I decided to get the cubana torta, which turned out to be massive! I thought I'd have half for lunch and eat the rest later, but it was so good that I did, in fact, manage to finish it one sitting. The service is casual but courteous. Also good for kids - they have high chairs, a kids' menu, and a changing table in the ladies room (did not venture to check if there was also one in the men's).

I tried a pastor, carnita, and asada taco. All three were delicious, but the pastor especially hit. I've struggled finding good, flavorful pastor here and I'm SO happy to find a place that makes it well. They have a salad/salsa bar set up where you can get your own toppings. I actually really love that! My husband and I each got margs. His lime was good and got the hibiscus. I'll definitely order that one again! They were good and strong. My husband ordered the birria. The tacos themselves were great! Very flavorful. My only complaint is I wish the consume wasn't as watery as it was, but the flavor itself was still good! We also ordered chips for the table. They came out hot and freshly made. I'm already thinking about when I can come here next and try more menu items! 10/10 recommend.

I will say that their spinach enchiladas are some of the best that we have had in some time. We definitely recommend this place as a great family spot and a nice venue for watching sports as well.

Good value for dollar spent. We had the torta with pastor (marinated pork). The sandwich included the pastor, onion, jalapenos, may, muenster cheese, pineapple, tomato, lettuce, sliced avocado and cilantro. What a great taste combination! Chips were good. Got a side of refried beans which were pretty good. But, the big deal was the salsa bar. Two green salsas (one a little hotter than the other), one red (mild), great pico, fresh cilantro, chopped onion and a habanero salad that was extremely hot, but incredibly tasty! Very nice and colorful decor and paintings. I would have liked more Mexican music playing. I think the only music we heard was from the kitchen. Tres leches cake was amazing (moist but not soupy). Coffee was good, served in a unique mug with a side of three little cookies.

The rice and refried beans were good too. Chori Pollo: The chicken was well seasoned and the chorizo on top was tasty. Their salsa is spicy, but enjoyable for me, and the service is fast and friendly. I enjoyed their Tuesday margarita special ($5.99 for a 16 oz margarita). The rice and refried beans are average, but I enjoyed them more after adding the spicy salsa. I had the Carne Asada, which was decent, but my favorite dish was ordered by my mom: the Fajitas Deluxe, a mixed fajita with chorizo and smothered in cheese (yum!). That's going to be my go-to dish from now on. I've gotten takeout a few times and dined in twice. If you get takeout, there's a $0.75 charge added to your bill (fine, no big deal). While Las Palmas isn't my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area, it's good enough to visit again, especially given how close I live. I could walk there (easily if there were sidewalks)!

No one spoke to us or acknowledged us even though multiple staff were standing right in front or near us doing other tasks. I guess they weren't the hostess but if felt rude to stand there as long as we did without being spoken to (10 minutes). Food was okay nothing amazing. Average Mexican restaurant food. I was a little disappointed with the guacamole portion. Our server was okay, not knowledgeable of the menu or very attentive and table service took a while for drinks and food. Ambiance was probably the best part of the experience. It's a full blown party and I don't think we were even there at the right time for things to really get started. We ate earlier in the day no line to get in or be seated. This was not the case when we left. There was a very long line. There is loud music but good music and staff who come out and dance and give shots to people celebrating special occasions. It's very fun.

"Mexican restaurant on Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd with a party atmosphere"…read more Came here on a Saturday night at 6pm. This is near the bowling alley in a location that used to be a Red Lobster. From the moment the door opened, I was a little surprised at the loud music, some playing outside but much louder inside. We were greeted promptly and seated immediately (as a group of 5). The restaurant has dark walls but is well lit inside. The artwork on the walls was quite impressive-- notably so. We got chips and very tasty salsa. The menu was eclectic, to say the least. It's "mostly" Mexican, but there were also some pasta dishes, I think sushi, and more. As other Yelpers have said, there was a note on the first page of the menu saying the prices were raised by $2. I ordered the fajita burrito, and my girlfriend got the ACP with chicken (it could be with steak, shrimp, or all 3). As we waited for our food, there were a few birthday celebrations, and the staff came out all singing, dancing, holding flashing lights, and a giant airplane of drinks. Definitely fun, nightcluby-vibes. Our server was also super sweet with us. The food came in maybe 15-20 minutes and was good. My girlfriend's ACP was excellent-- really loved the cheese that they had on it. My fajita burrito was good. It looked large, but I confess I found myself a little hungry at the end. The oddity for it was that it didn't come with anything-- it was "just" the burrito. No rice or beans or salad on the side. One unfortunate thing-- my girlfriend ordered a mocktail, but she's pretty convinced that what she got was not "mock". She mentioned to the waitress, and the order was placed correctly, but the waitress was still apologetic. By the time we were finishing, the restaurant was HOPPING and SUPER loud, not just from the music but from the people inside. Service got lighter at that point-- I never did get a refill of my drink, though I'm sure if I could have flagged her down, I'd have gotten it. It was loud enough that I needed to leave rather than stay and explore the desserts. Overall, a "fun" mostly-Mexican vibe, and good food, but be ready for a loud nightcluby atmosphere.
