All the brunch spots on Ashford were crowded with long wait times on a Friday. I was on a time crunch so I needed something quick. El Corner had just what I needed, iced coffee and empanadas. The iced coffee and iced latte were average. As far as the empanadas, I got the spinach and mozzarella, Boricua (ground beefm, plantain and cheese) and guava cheese ($5 each). They were perfect for the road and tied us over for lunch. They also offer smoothies, açaí bowls and alcoholic beverages. It's a corner kiosk and there are no places to sit. You order on one side and pick up your order on the other side. The staff were nice and quick. They came through for me!

Make sure you head to El Corner before heading to the beach! This is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite and refreshing beverage on a hot day. I came here twice during my stay and loved both of my drinks. We also tried a few of the empanadas, which were just okay. I wish they more spice, but the drinks made up for it!

Just had the piña colada and iced latte and it was incredible. The piña colada was perfectly icy and exactly what I needed. Marisol and Alex were the sweetest and the service was so quick.

    Best local empanadas and mojito

Located on the main strip with all the popular hotels and eateries, El Corner adult became my favorite budget friendly local spot to grab empanadas and a mojito after being at the beach. You have a ton of options walking the strip and just about all the local spots have some type of traditional Puerto Rican food but here's why you'll want to patronize El Corner. First off they're a cute father-son duo. They're super quick with your order and the prices are a chefs kiss. You have the option of fried or baked empanadas. I chose the baked. The crust has less dough, is thinner and crispier. You can choose your protein or filling and grab a drink of your choice. My recommendation is you try the Passion Fruit Mojito. When in PR get passion fruit everything. Your senses will romanced by both the taste and aroma. The rum is there with quite a strong presence and you won't feel it's full effects until you get about half way through and by the time you notice it- you're now quite tipsy. Balance it out with another empanada and you'll be good to go. If you're a novice- I suggest get the Chciken, mojito and then add a guava or plantain empanada for dessert and you'll be good to go.

The service was quick. I decided to stop by for a Henry-Colda and a Chicken Empanada. Both were pretty good. I will go back again. The four star is because the drink price is a bit high @ $15.

El Corner is a great spot to grab a cafe or a smoothie. I wanted something cool and refreshing without alcohol and they serve smoothies with fresh fruit. The strawberry and banana smoothie was blended with almond milk. They' have many varieties to choose from. It's central location and convenient outdoor walk up and go approach is a win-win.

This is such a great place located on a corner, on the popular strip in San Juan, great service and great food and trust me you will be tipsy off the Mojitos. This place is a must!!

The açaí bowls were one of the best in town and they really fill it up with fruits and toppings.

AMBIANCE Parking: Old San Juan rules--come early or be ready to walk. Seating: Multiple seating areas for individuals and small groups but it's also a cafe too so there is seating in the back too. Vibes: Clean, modern café with a mix of locals and tourists. You can tell people come here for the coffee, not just to pass through. It leans more intentional and coffee-focused rather than just aesthetic--which I appreciated. FOOD / DRINKS Coquito Frap (Recommend) When in Puerto Rico, Coquito. Creamy, coconut-forward, and lightly spiced--like a frozen coquito with a coffee twist. Sweet, smooth, and definitely more of a dessert drink than a regular latte. CUSTOMER SERVICE Friendly and efficient. Even with a crowd, things moved quickly. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. Solid spot. Great drink options at a reasonable price. They know what they're doing. Whether you're a coffee person or just need a reset, this place delivers. Salute to the Munoz family for sharing their coffee to the world! We loved it so much we actually went twice during our trip - and even made a final stop before heading to the airport to go home. On our first visit, Hector (the roaster) happened to be there, which made the experience feel even more special. The staff overall were all so kind and attentive. The coffee is absolutely excellent - velvety smooth, rich, and delicious. I could easily drink more than one cup. I had a latte, and my husband had a macchiato, and both were great. They have a cute little outdoor atrium seating area, but we preferred indoors where all the comfy pillow seating was. Just a note - they don't offer decaf - but for regular coffee drinkers, it's a must-visit. Such a gem in Old San Juan!

Oh boy... this was a 10/10!…read more After spending a long, hot day exploring Old San Juan with the kids, we stopped by Cortés ChocoBar in Condado for something cold, and it was exactly what we needed. We ordered three of their frozen chocolate drinks, and every single one was absolutely delicious. Thankfully, it wasn't busy when we stopped by, so it was the perfect place to cool off and take a break from the heat. The café had a modern, inviting atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I asked if one of the frozen drinks could be split for the kids, and although they didn't split it for us, they happily gave us two extra cups so we could divide it ourselves. It was a simple gesture that we really appreciated. The frozen chocolate drink was rich, creamy, refreshing, and perfectly chocolatey without being overly sweet. Even the whipped cream was delicious, especially with the chocolate pieces on top. Everyone in our group loved it, and it quickly became our favorite sweet treat of the trip. Whenever we're craving something cold and chocolatey during our stay in Puerto Rico, this will definitely be our go-to spot. We can't wait to come back and try their bonbons before we head home!

I've bought them at the grocery store for my mother over the years when I couldn't find Menier. I was hoping to see some unique desserts at Chocobar Cortés. Let's just say that the chocobar at this location was not what I was expecting. It's like an express version of their original one in Old San Juan. This is located in the lobby of the Condado Palm Hotel. There are 2 entrances. Don't make the same mistake we did by trying to access at street level. That door is locked. You'll need to enter through the hotel lobby. The service is very slow here. There was only one other person there. We ordered a box of 6 chocolates and payed for it. I'm guessing he was making a drink for the other guest because he asked us to wait a few minutes. It ended up being longer so he told his colleague (who just came back from a break) to make up the chocolate box for us. Unfortunately, it took even longer as this other guy was more interested in the 2 young girls who just walked in. The chocolate bonbons were good, but nothing unique. It's the same artisan chocolates that you see everywhere for the same high price. Perhaps this location is better for their specialty cocktails in the evening time. I was looking forward to trying the choco-latte at some point. I doubt there will be a next time.
