Moro con pernil
Rosie B.

After 3 trips to Monticello NY I was recommend this place by a Instagram friend and I'm so glad I decided to check them out. It's literally home away from home. Food like this you find everywhere in NYC but outside of that it's a miracle to find good Latin food. Funny story: After 2 days at Kartrite I decided to head over , my fiancé decided to send me in first to try the food and once I never came back out he figured I was kidnapped. J/k the food was fantastic. I ordered morro with pernil (rice and peas with roasted pork shoulder) and my kids ordered white rice with red beans and bbq ribs which was also delicious (I tried everything). The food on display looked so fresh it made it very difficult to choose what to eat. If you're ever in the Monticello area and miss home or just want so good ol Latin food check them out!

Good food and service. Life the chicken soup and chicken and cheese empanadas, so good.

Pernil and yellow rice and beans. Really delicious. Only $10.

Delicious food. Very affordable. I got the Pernil with yellow rice and beans. Huge, generous portion. The pork had beautiful bark and tasty fatty pieces, but the meat was so tender, flavorful, and moist. I always worry that it's going to be dried out, but this was not. Enormous portion enough for at least two or three meals from me, anyway. Can't wait to try all of their food. Cute little restaurant but much bigger inside than you would expect from the outside. The chicken and cheese empanada... absolutely delicious. I make my own empanadas and I have to say these are even better than mine ‼ I'm a food snob so it's a huge compliment. Trust me when I tell you ‼

Pernil with white rice.

So glad to discover this gem while visiting Catskill! I…read morestopped in on a Saturday afternoon and the food on the buffet line looked and smelled incredible. There were so many options, including goat, oxtail, pigs feet and more popular proteins like pernil, chicken and beef. My fiance and I decided to share a large plate and I'm so glad we decided to share because the portion was HUGE!! We got yellow rice, black beans, stewed chicken, pernil and maduros all piled high on a plate. We also got a bottle of water and a tamarind Jarritos soda. They had a ton of different bottled beverages and a few desserts options too. They also have many made to order menu items, including Mofongo. The food was absolutely delicious and bursting with flavor. Everything was cooked to perfection. We also loved their housemade jalapeno hot sauce. The staff was friendly and there were a few tables if you prefer to dine in. I can't recommend Angel's enough!

The large plate was really large and you get to select 2 items. The chicharron was so perfectly crispy. Beef stew had great flavor and the yellow rice was awesome. Chicken stew was juicy. Service was fast and place was not large but was nice inside. Good for smaller groups. Overall was a great dinner.

There was a little bit of a communication problem when we arrived. The young man at the counter did…read morenot speak English. He did smile a lot though! I thought to make it easier, we would just point to what looked good and he could charge us whatever but after a minute or two, he went to the back kitchen and an older gentleman came out who did speak English. He told us that we had a choice of three rice and a meat selection. So I went with oxtail and he went steak. We both got the yellow rice. You also get a choice of beans on top of the rice. I opted for no beans. I thought the portion size was good (lots of rice). Oxtail was fine but not fall-off-the-bone good. I would have liked more sauce. The steak was also fine and had a distinctive spice which we could not figure out. We ate outside on the picnic table. There is not much seating inside. After finishing our meal, I went to use the restroom. The toilet was not nailed down so when you sit, there is a loud sound as it hits the floor. There was also no toilet paper or paper towels. I guess I could have asked but then I would have to encounter the language issue again. Luckily I had extra napkins in my purse!

REALLY A TEASPOON Service: ATROCIOUS!!!! The woman behind the counter is very RUDE, EXTREMELY UNPLEASANT. I asked this person for a menu, no menu, and I looked on my phone for the menu and prices. the prices of the food were different. Then she started quoting me prices. Different as well. There also was another woman sitting at the table, a worker. The woman who was attending me was angry with her. The plate of food was very small. For $18.00 I asked this person if there was a charge to use a card. Her answer was yes. This charge is not posted anywhere. NEW YORK STATE LAW READS: Businesses are not allowed to advertise a price and add a surcharge at the point of sale when a consumer elects to pay with a credit card. Instead, businesses are required to inform consumers of the higher credit card price for a product or service by posting the higher price. Ambiance: HEAVY with NEGATIVITY UNPLEASANT I will never return.....
