A gem in Placita- don't let the exterior fool you - they have amazing drinks, the ceviche is delicious and in the heart of people watching and gathering any night of the week in San Juan!

Piña mojito! They're as good as people say!

Can't speak to the food (although it looked good from what I saw on the plates of those around us), but the mojitos were the best we had in San Juan. The other reviews on those are accurate. I loved the pina mojito I got and I think my wife got pomegranate and that was also delicious. I recommend stopping if you're bar hopping in that area for the mojitos alone. You'll thank me later.

The bar was cool is in the middle of the Placita it was cool and energetic with a positive vibe

    Ceviches are good.

Great local place for drinks and good ceviche. The octopus was fresh and well prepared. Grab a drink and just hangout anywhere in La Placita!

I came here on Memorial Day with a group of 13 people. We were extremely satisfied with the mojito, ceviche (fish and shrimp), and octopus that we ordered. One order of ceviche was not enough, we went back for more!

The best things in life are found whilst wandering strange places. We stumbled on Coco de Luis after putting our names on a list at Jose Enrique for dinner. $4 margaritas and sangrias... sign me up! I can only imagine what this place is like on the weekend. We swung by La Placita on a Tuesday so it was lowkey despite the bumping salsa jams pumping through the speakers. There were kitties roaming around everywhere. Adorable. The folks next to us were bro-ing it up with cigars and copious alcoholic bevs. Others wandered in and out enjoying a few drinks before making their way to the next destination. If only we were heading to dinner, I would have devoured their chicharrones. Until next time Coco! I think you're legit.

An emblem of Puerto Rican Culture. There's nouveau and delicious restaurants to choose from in La Placita, but the best thing to eat is and will always be the fried chicken from el Coco. Add to that a drink prepared with fresh coconut water or freshly squeezed grapefruit and orange juice. Then sit in the plaza and enjoy all the colorfulness of island living :) ______________ Emblema de Puerto Rico. Hay deliciosos restaurantes nouveau en La Placita, pero lo mejor para comer es y siempre será el pollo frito del Coco. Y súmale un palito con agua de coco o jugo de toronja y china fresca. Tostones con carne cerdo....y una Medalla!

Went to "La Placita" to get our bar time in...great experience all around! El Coco de Luis was thee first and last place we visited while there....low low low prices for drinks and absolutely phenomenal food! We got two orders of Tostones con carne cerdo....or fried plantains with pork, and it was delicious...they say and advertise that they have the best mojitos around and I have to say that it would be an argument to debate that statement, as they are awesome. Staff is friendly and eager to please. 100% would recommend.

Very friendly people. We loved the conch vinaigrette salad, drinks are inexpensive. We had returned to this place twice to eat their conch vinaigrette salad ( a local delicacy.

I finally tried the much talked about mofongo (fried green plantains mashed with garlic, olive oil, and "chicharrónes" or pork skins). We ordered the beef, which was tender and flavorful, and more than just enough as it's quite filling. The Puerto Rican lemonade made with passion fruit was another new tickler for the tastebuds. As guests at the hotel (The Condado Palm Inn), we were lucky enough to meet Denise, during breakfast one morning. Let me just say, she ROCKS! Denise was our hostess turned unofficial tour guide, enthusiastically sharing some great ideas and recommendations on beaches, adventures, local spots and other must-see-if-you-can sights of interest.

We arrived at 11am on a Monday because that's when we thought they opened. They actually opened at 11:30am, so we were 2nd in line at 11am. Once 11:30am rolled around, the line was very long. It's an old house that was transformed into a restaurant. It's pretty big in there and they have an upstairs as well. It really feels like you're eating in a Caribbean home, from the colorful tablecloth to the things on the tables. The menu is on a board, and they have a Spanish and English version. They give you a cup of complimentary plantain soup which was amazing. We also ordered the fried cheese app which came with a delicious guava sauce. For mains, I had the fried pork with tostones and my husband had the mamposteado (corned beef, fried eggs, and rice). My husband cleaned his plate, while I took leftovers back to the hotel (which we actually ate later because it was that good). They were out of tres leches that day, so we had the coconut pudding for dessert. It was my first time trying coconut pudding and it did not disappoint! For drinks, we had the passionfruit sangria. When we left, there was a very long line outside. Despite the line, they did not rush us out. Definitely recommend and would go out of my way to come back next time I'm in PR.

There are so many spots that are authentic and incredible, but La Casita Blanca stands out in its own lane. It's gotten more popular and touristy over the years, but that's because they've stayed true to who they are. The authenticity here hasn't changed, and that's exactly why people keep coming. This is the kind of place where the menu brings you right back to your upbringing. You'll find dishes like corned beef, tostones con bacalao, and other classics that just hit differently. And the vibe? It feels like family. Someone who looks like your aunt might be cooking your food, your cousin might be serving it, and everyone treats you like you belong there. Food-wise, everything we had was fire. One of the people I was with is basically an "aguacateologist," and even he said it was one of the best he's ever had. That alone says a lot. Chuletas fried to a perfect golden crisp. The pollo fricasé (pollo guisado, if you know, you know) was on point and even came in a little pot that made it feel extra homey. Arroz con gandules? Off the hook!!!! And to top it all off, they had salsa playing in the background... which honestly had me sold the moment I walked in. Disclaimer/Warning; There will be a line!!! And if you're lucky enough to get a table, sit back and enjoy every second of it.

Since I've always seen the long lines outside this store when I passed by, we decided that we try to go in as soon as it opened. So, we lined up around 11:30am. We barely waited much and we got seated. The server that day was quick/efficient/friendly despite the fact that she was running a one woman show. And the food arrived within a decent time. My friends and I decided to order the PUERTO RICAN PLATTER with a side of a side salad. This platter comes with everything you could want & maybe something that might be a bit adventurous for you to eat like blood sausage. Despite that, it's a nice platter to share and try a bit of everything. It's really nice that if you order for 4 people, they give you exactly the amount of pieces that are divisible by 4 (so everyone can try 1-2 pieces of each thing evenly). It also comes with a decent amount of rice/pork as a supplementation, which was nice. It's a balanced meal. And I think the side salad did well to balance out all the fried foods. Overall, we really enjoyed this place. It's a great place to come with friends/families to share. It's a great place as a visitor to try a bit of everything. The platter is a great introduction of puerto rican fried finger foods. And it all taste great! From the presentation of the food to the service here, it's all good. I would recommend this place to others.

This spot we had seen on social media a ton for being famous for their Mallorca sandwich, a special type bread, we got the one with bacon & American cheese. Man, I made the mistake of doing the bacon instead of ham, overthought that deal. I tried my buddies with ham n cheese and I think that was way to go. I loved how this spot had that super old school feel of like a diner. You can sit at one of the table tops, or you can do the countertop too, which has tons of seats, we all were able to sit there. I'd 100% recommend this spot, but get the ham n cheese mallorca sandwich, don't overthink it.

The guava pastry was good. The vanilla bread with strawberry and pineapple/lemon was okay. They looked better than they tasted in my opinion. Payment for everything would be at the cashier after dining. If you're in San Juan, this is a place to try!

Server wasn't really present as the majority of our time there was waiting vs eating. That was true for most patrons. Most people seated at tables were waiting instead of eating.
