So bad I ate it all LOL joking.

With all the negative reviews I was skeptical but this place is OK. The 18% gratuity is for parties over 6. That's NORMAl. I can't say nothing bad about this place. Food was good. I ordered a beef burrito (normally I'd have steak burrito at any Mexican restaurant) So here is my negative review. The burrito was so horrible I ate it all. Wanted to lick the plate clean but I didn't want people to look at me funny. And when my glass of soda was empty the waiter refilled it for me the nerve of him I swear. Chips and salsa was fire I'm traveling thru. I'm from Chicago and for Mexican food I go to grocery store with a grill and have lunch there. This place for being out in the middle of nowhere Indiana pretty darn good if you ask me. Over all I'd visit again if I drive thru again

Tortilla soup chicken nachos

The portions are very generous. Today we had tortilla soup and chicken nachos. Could have just had one or the other. Service was good we went at an off time 2:00 p.m. Ingredients looked and tasted fresh. There was a lot of trash on the ground at the front entrance that needs some attention. Pleased that the food was so good!

Classic Mexican menu with all the standard fixins!

Probably the best Coctel de Camarones I've had in a dozen years! An enormous portion of shrimp in a perfectly blended broth of tomato and lime, flavored with cilantro and onion. The ripe slices of avocado melted to mix to create a delicious concoction that only needed a dash of pepper sauce to set the whole combination over the top. The Beef Taco Salad was nicely seasoned and arrived in a crispy tortilla bowl that was tastier than the bagged chips served with their gringo salsa. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was warm and festive. A great lunch outing for less than $25, which included a frosty mug of Negra Modelo. Great place for lunch and dinner!

Two words: Hard Pass. Between the late 19th century decor, lack of anything resembling an atmosphere, forgettable food (the salsa and Pico were flavorless and nothing looked fresh) and the poor service, it's hard to find anything positive to say. Though friendly, the service was very slow and half-assed. It's screaming for chef Robert Irvine and his sledge hammer.

Really good salsa! We had carnitas and the fajitas Jalisco and both meals had really good flavor. We're stuffed! So glad we decided to try it out on our way north.

This place is a great find in the middle of my trip passing through from Indy to points north. I've had lunch here several times and it has always been an excellent experience. The food is very flavorful and the salsa is fresh and tasty with a little heat. Interesting and unique flavor twists keep this restaurant fresh and enjoyable. Today I had the veggie fajita taco salad. The sauted vegetables included onions, peppers, broccoli, carrots which were very nicely seasoned. The broccoli especially was delicious. The lettuce and tomatos were fresh and tasty. I always enjoy the rice here, again the unique flavor and added ingredients set it apart from the rice found in most Mexican restaurants. Service is friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable and lunch specials are cheap. Mucho comida for poco dinero. The chicken tortilla soup always looks amazing. I don't eat meat but it is very popular, it seems that at least one person at every table orders it. I actually ate lunch here two days in a row this week. Traveling through Rochester with a coworker I introduced her to this place and then on our return trip the following day she suggested we return. Now she plans to be a regular here.

Do not go on a busy night. Just order to go. Good food but that is it. Had to remind waiter of drink orders. Since he was missing 3 of the 5 we had. Then had to wait for food order for my youngest. Once we got our food the waiter did not return. After being there for over an hour and a half. We got up AND went to the register to pay because the waiter would not give us our check. We waited for 25 minutes for him and just went to the register. It's a shame this was my favorite restaurant in town. Now it's not.

Best frozen margaritas, hands down

You have to try the chips and salsa. It's a Mexican restaurant that knows how to make a good burrito to.

If you are looking for something more like a family restaurant, far removed from the tourist areas in almost any Mexican city or town, then you have found the right place. The place is clean. The chairs, tables and booths mismatched and well used but serviceable. The menus photocopied. The lighting is a little harsh. There's the compulsory photo of the Pope and the Madonna hanging in the corner. All of this and great food combine to make this my go to place for authentic Mexican cooking. I just sat down for a carry it dinner of 3 tacos pastor ($7.95 - Mexican style with cilantro, onion and tomato, thank you) some very good rice and the best beans I have had since I moved here from Chicago in 2005. I wish I could have shown you but I thought about pictures after I ate ... the smell was driving me wild! If your looking for real, authentic, family cooked food ... Get off of I-65 at exit 215, drive about 3 miles East to the stop sign, turn left and look for the orange building on the right. You won't be sorry. I'm thinking about going back again tomorrow!

My favorite is the veggie quesadilla, it is very different than the average quesadilla that is served at other Mexican restaurants. I always order the platter that comes with rice and beans, because both are excellent. The red sauce has heat but is very flavorful. I always order extra red sauce to take home. If you don't care for hot sauces but enjoy flavor you can mix a little sour cream into the red sauce to make it milder. Service is always friendly and helpful. I lived nearly half my life in Arizona and California, where they know how to make good Mexican food. The food at Habanero was the blandest Mexican food I have ever encountered. Located in an industrial district, I wasn't too surprised when I pulled up after 7 one evening and it was fairly quiet. "Probably does most of its business during lunches," I thought. The hostess greeted me quickly and, when I asked if they had a bar area, she ushered me to it and I took a seat at the bar. I should probably have taken a clue from the fact that dirty glasses were clustered at the end of the bar, and there were neither bartender nor other patrons in sight. The other dinner patrons were in the dining room. Chips and salsa came quickly, followed by my bartender who took my order for a house Margarita, on the rocks. "Would you like salt or sugar with that?" should have been my second clue. Sugar? On a Margarita? The chips needed salt, but fair enough. Lots of people are watching their salt, and that was easily remedied. The salsa, though, tasted more like pureed tomatoes, lacking any kind of discernable heat. Strike one. The Margarita was also a disappointment: watery and weak. Though she poured the mix from a jug, it's not uncommon to prepare a large batch of mix early in the day and add tequila just before service, but that was not the issue here. Flavor and any punch from the tequila were conspicuously absent. Strike two. For my solid food, I ordered a chili relleno, my litmus test of a good Mexican place. While delivered quickly and piping hot temperature-wise, the sauce had an unusual sweetness to it while the poblano pepper had no. Heat. Whatsoever. Strike three. When I stood up, signaling that I was ready to leave, the server simply said, "You're ready for your check?" My Margarita was only about one-third gone, and I'd only taken a few bites of my relleno. An astute restaurant professional would have noticed that very little had been eaten and would have asked if everything was all right. It wasn't, but they either didn't notice or knew not to ask. A good four- or five-star experience - even after a single visit - will encourage repeat visits and a positive review will encourage others to try the establishment. A one-star experience, especially when it's the first visit, will not inspire the patron to give the place a second chance, and a review based on that single experience will likely have a chilling effect. Sorry to be "that guy," but I won't be back.

A Culinary Catastrophe…read more After a blissful 10-year hiatus from Hacienda--because my last meal there nearly traumatized me--I decided to give it another whirl. Big mistake. Huge. Turns out, in a decade, the only thing that's changed is my tolerance for culinary crimes. I ordered the "wet burrito," which was about as wet as the Sahara at high noon. Normally, "wet" implies sauce, right? Silly me. Instead, I got a sad tortilla with cheese desperately clinging to it like it knew it was part of something deeply wrong. The burrito itself had some heft, which, in hindsight, must've been the sheer weight of disappointment. One bite in, and my taste buds staged a full-blown rebellion. I'm still not entirely sure what meat-like substance was inside, but after 60+ years of eating everything from gas station hot dogs to questionable fair food, I can say with confidence: I have never experienced something so vile it made me question my will to live. The sour cream--an extra $1.19 of regret--arrived in a state best described as "melted sadness," watery enough to mop floors with and tasting like it had turned sometime during the Bush administration. The guacamole? A salty green paste with the distinct vibe of something scraped off a sea rock, and the white cheese dip and refried beans were both so oversalted they could've cured a side of pork. Now, don't get me wrong, I love salt. But this meal's sodium levels would make a salt lick blush. I'm honestly considering sending a sample to a lab to confirm it hasn't surpassed FDA limits. As for the mystery meat? Let's just say I wouldn't feed it to stray raccoons for fear of violating animal cruelty laws. And yes, I will be double-securing my trash can tonight because I don't want any innocent wildlife stumbling across this culinary abomination and dropping dead in my yard. Hacienda, thanks for the memories--specifically, the one of me scraping this monstrosity into the trash while gagging.
