Obviously if I'm gonna wait in line for a coffee I might as well try the food. I almost regretted my decision as soon as I saw the price of my order. I came here in February of 2021 during the peak of Covid where take-out orders are now becoming much more common. Perfect opportunity to hit up a food truck. I ordered the steak nachos and they were bomb. About as good as I'd expect from a food truck. They had a perfect container for them "to go". The highlight was actually the chips. Go the Birria tacos and birria quesadilla. They were both really delicious. The hibiscus tea (Jamaica) was very good as well, not too sweet and not too tart. Definitely a food truck where the menu pictures look way better than the finished product. I had El Chef at the LA County Fair yesterday and got the steak fries. The 'steak' looked more like a ground beef grade of beef (probably thinly sliced steak) and was pretty dry. They didn't give a lot of steak so I had a lot of fries left over when I ran of steak and they were stingy with the salsa too (only gave me two of the tiny plastic cups). I was pretty sad since you expect to get something really special when you eat at the fair and this was average at best. It's just a gimmick why pay close to a restaurant price for a mobile food truck I rather just spend the few cents more and go to a proper place. The food is decent. Nothing to write home about. I had two different paninis and tacos. Their truck is beautiful and clean and includes a "patio", however I can't justify the price. It's odd to see the chefs huge face on the side of the truck. A name like El Chef would would make you think that the food is going to blow you away but it's eh. You're better off going to a truck that is less showy where the food really does make you want to come back for more. read more
