I've been to a few taquerias here and this has to be my favorite and actually AUTHENTIC! Today I had my comfort food; Quesabirria ! The melted cheese and beef dipped in the consome was orgasmic! I had to take one home aswell! I had their homemade horchata which was sweet and creamy, with a smooth texture, topped with cinnamon ( which I also had to take a few home ). I used to like this place. Not sure if there is a new owner, a new cook or if they just gave up on quality. Ordered 5 asada tacos.. And what i got was nasty... Dried up meat... Tried to lather on the sauce and lime juice, but it was still gross. Had to chew for days. Lacked flavor and definitely was not fresh. Some of the pieces resembled beef jerkey. NEW OWNERS and it's now inside a unit in the same plaza. We've been eating here weekly for a few months (close to work : )) and it's been fresh, flavorful, & delicious every visit. Our favorites are the shrimp tacos with fresh slaw and slightly spicy sauce and the burritos are chock full of tasty ingredients. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're craving Mexican food. The last couple of times we've paid extra to take home salsa, but be careful, the red salsa is extra spicy and probably not for the average person. First of all, I must say their chorizo burritos are fantastic. The problem is due to a lack of planning on their part, I can never get one! I ordered one at 3PM and they said they were out of eggs. The next time I came by at noon, they were out of cheese. I asked what time they opened and they said 11AM. Today I came by right after 11 and guess what? They had no chorizo! It's not worth my time and gas to keep driving over there only to get skunked every time. It's a nice little Mexican joint in Carmichael. It's very clean inside and service was friendly. The pasole soup was good and I'd recommend you try it. If I could give zero stars I would. Between my wife and I we ordered 3 tacos and a burrito. The lengua and carne asada have no flavor at all. For a $10 burrito I would expect it to not be mainly unflavored beans and rice. Even the three sauces they offered had no flavor. The two green had zero flavor and the red tasted like spicy lime juice. For these prices I'll just swing by adalbertos since it's only 3 blocks away. Many of you may have been driving through Carmichael on Fairs Oaks Blvd in the evening of any given night, passing by near North (near the post office), have seen a large number of folks standing in front of a trailer in the parking lot, and thought, 'what in the world? I've got to try that one of these days.' I know that is certainly what I did several times. Finally convinced the wife to try it out a couple months ago. Boy am I glad we did!! It is now one of our favorites. They serve up several different items, but all that we have had to this point are the tacos. They are reminiscent of the true street vendor tacos of Mexico. MUCH smaller tortillas that we are traditionally accustomed to here in the states. However, these little gems are packed, and certainly not short on flavor!! Man are they tasty. They have approximately 10 different types of tacos that you can get. So far I have tried: chicken, carne asada, lengua, pastor, and chorizo. All are extremely tasty, but pastor and chorizo have become my favs and as of yet... I haven't managed to get past those to try anything else. I would say pastor is consistently the stand out item. Delicious! There are also several salsas to select, in addition to the traditional radishes, carrots and onions, and lime wedges. At $1.50 per taco, it is certainly easy to take the family out for less than $20!! (CASH only) If you enjoy food trucks, and delicious food - this is a must try for you. I know... Tacos from a food (taco) truck are not exactly original, but man are they tasty!! Oh, and I believe they are here Tuesday through Sunday from approx 11am - 10pm (sometimes later).
