Last night, El Carnes was our first meal on our latest trip to Aguascalientes. Located in a food court next to Soriana, the one across the street from the university.
We went with the Arrachera plate. The arrechera was a super tender and super tasty thin-cut hangar steak. The plate came with French fries, a cooked nopal (cactus) leaf, sautéed little cubed slices of onion and a delightful chunky guacamole. Accompanying the dish were small corn tortillas.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Overall, an excellent meal. But not necessarily cheap. It was 298 pesos, which at this time comes out to $16.23 USD.
I was able to eventually pay, but first tried to pay with some Mexican coins that I probably got on a trip to Mexico over 30 years ago. The staff didn't recognize the coins and I think that, other than as keepsakes, they are essentially worthless now. read more
