We said we didn't mind getting a smaller one that was already cut. The guys up front insisted it was no problem. The butcher came out from the back and said they never cut them bigger than what they had in the case currently, but that he would do it anyway. They sent us home with a lower quality cut of beef and charged us the price of the 361 strip, when it was clearly not the same amount of marbling. We felt like we ruined their day. Now we go to Montray's Meat Market and have never been treated like an inconvenience.

If you've ever bought plates for a church benefit and thought..."well, it's for the church"...you accept the smaller portions as being adequate for the money. That said, the plates aren't expensive, but they're small portions. And I was extemely cautious to keep the plates level and half the beans were in the potato salad on both plates. The meats: sausage has nice snap and just a slight touch of heat. Nothing objectionable. The brisket is a little chewy, not juicy but tasty. The sides were better than the meats...just small portions. We didn't get any sauce on the meat or on the side and no utensils. It did come with a canned drink, though...I guess they figure you're taking it home?? Facebook recommendations got us to try it out. It was decent, not "drive well out of your way" good.
