So fun and worth it!!! Go at 2pm or 11pm. The mojitos and coquito shots are really good. Take pictures in the Photo Booth for the memories. It does get very crowded since it's a small place so go early and get a tables or have patience. The bar tenders are great!

Small - medium size bar. Early it's not packed like 7:30pm. As the night comes on, it steadily becomes very packed. They play mostly reggaeton and bachata. Nice vibes, but it gets pretty crowded. Age range is 20s.

"Just a friendly reminder: Innocent until proven guilty! A fantastic spot to sip on a margarita and vibe to some great music--plus, the bartenders aren't too bad either! Pure fun!"

Always a great time! Be prepared to wait a moment in line for a drink especially in the evening hours but it's not even bad when you're dancing to reggaeton and in the mood for some of the best mojitos! They also have great shots and all the bartenders do their best to give everyone the service of a life time--if you're patient! Definitely a must when in VSJ! Coming from a fellow rican xo

The bar was amazing. Great music, great drinks, service was excellent, security was cool. Crowded after midnight but still good vibes! Definitely a Recommendation!

Always busy at night. The mojitos are delicious, service is good and they have a photo booth. Come by 11pm for all the fun.

With it being 1 year since my previous visit to El Cafetin, I definitely had to update my review because we all know that "sharing is caring" ;). My previous visit was in April 2022 and my most recent visit was on Thursday, 04/27/2023 (around 10pm). I am happy to report that inflation has not yet affected the cost of the $5 mojitos that you can get from El Cafetin! YES!!! $5 mojitos are still a thing if you do decide to stop by El Cafetin. :)) $5 folks! I only needed one to feel a lil bit prettier ;). I would recommend that you stop by right when they open up at 5pm to get your evening started off the right way...this way you can get a table to enjoy a game of Jenga, order a Sampler Platter of food for $25 to munch on (definitely is a lot of food for at least 3-4 people to share), drink some $5 mojitos (mango is my favorite), & listen to some awesome music! During our most recent visit, it was later in the evening (10pm) and we we still able to order food. You can let the bartender know that you want your food to go and they'll put it in a to-go box instead of bringing it out on a flat platter plate. We sat at the bar & ate our food there. Even though it was late, our food still came out freshly made and hot. IMO, adding El Cafetin to your itinerary is a MUST because not only is it conveniently located w/in walking distance of El Morro, it has a laidback but fun atmosphere/vibe that is the perfect way to get your evening started or stop for a drink & quick bite to eat while walking around in Viejo San Juan. Hope this info helps! Till next time, Rebecca

Great bar in the middle of Old San Juan with an extremely great deal! Mojitos are $5 for original and $6 if you get a flavored one (mango, passionfruit, guava, tamarindo, coconut, and fresca) and also they have a $5 beer + a shot deal. Tried the guava, mango, and passionfruit and personally guava was the best one. Bartender was pretty chill and they play great music here.

Cutest place! They have five dollar mojitos and my favorite five dollar ICE COLD beer with a shot of coquito!! With everything being so expensive in all the tourist areas this is the perfect gem to find. They have Domino's, Uno cards, Jenga, and other games to play while hanging out. If I lived near here, this would be one of my hangout joints. My only regret is not being able to hang out longer. If you find yourself an old San Juan for any reason, come check out this place.!!

AMBIANCE: Parking: Welcome to Old San Juan, it get get pretty busy - best to carpool or do public transportation. Seating: Indoor seating or private cabana set ups for groups. Room for a total of 100 people. Feels: Welcome to Old San Juan, a mix of touristy and culture. The spot itself is popular for locals and tourists. As for the space itself, what's unique about this spot is this place isn't just one bar. It's actually a series of connected rooms (about 6-7 different spaces), each with its own vibe - speak easy, dance, casual, house, live music and more! I'm surprised each room can contain it's sounds while maintaining its own energy. It feels like a speakeasy maze meets nightlife experience. Dim lighting, vintage touches, and just enough chaos in a good way. DRINKS/EXPERIENCE It was such a fun night, not sure what I ordered but there is an abundance of flavors as every room has different selections. But popular drinks if you're looking for guidance - lavendar mule, espresso martini, a classic mojito. They got the classic to your well-crafted cocktails. Some spots provide food while others is sip and chill or sip and dance. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Fast-paced but solid. Staff keeps up with the crowd and still manages to be engaging. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars! Good choices, reasonable prices, and a vibe like no other. As a gemini that can be quite indecisive, I enjoyed this spot - especially with its multiple options. This is more than a bar - it's an experience. A spot where the night can go longer than expected. TIPS: * Walk through ALL the rooms--you'll miss half the experience if you don't

We were thrilled when we finally walked through the door again after wracking our brains to remember our favorite spot in Old Town. Upon entering, we were greeted by a young woman who, mentioned it was her very first day as an assistant to the bartender. Despite being brand new, she was warm, engaged, and genuinely welcoming, excited for us that we had made it back after several years, and impressed with our efforts. Shortly thereafter the bartender on duty approached us mid-conversation, visibly irritated. When I mentioned that we hadn't yet decided on drinks but were being well taken care of in the meantime, she interrupted sharply to bark at us that she was the bartender and the ONLY one who could help us. The tone was unwelcoming enough that after a moment, my companion and I determined that we would prefer to move on and left without ordering. The atmosphere is truly special, and it deserves to be matched by the experience guests receive at the bar. Our experience was simply not the vibe that night, and I truly was disappointed FOR the new hire who was doing what she should in engaging us until we could be served. I sincerely hope to return on a future visit to San Juan and to rediscover the experience that first brought me back to La Grieta.
