I've been here three times now and the food is always good, the service is always ridiculously fast, and the vibes are always comfortable. This time I got the grilled steak quesadilla with rice and a side salad. It was delicious. I wish there was more cheese in the actual quesadilla, but I used my queso dip, so it was fine. The steak itself was seasoned wonderfully and cooked well. There was a noticeable amount of grease/oil, which is to be expected, but if food textures are a thing for you - maybe try something else. We didn't know the area. Decided to lookon Yelp and found this place. I had the burrito Loco it was absolutely delicious. The wife had chicken taco, which came with rice, tomato and lettuce. Ambiance is perfect for this amazing Mexican sports grille in New Richmond! We have been to 4 of the 5 restaurants that owner Juan Mendez has in the Cincinnati area, and this was the first time coming here! As usual, he offers an eclectic menu here, and the food was phenomenal. The ceviche tostada was crisp and light, punching your mouth with flavor. My husband ordered a steak torta, which was prepared perfectly and had a wonderful flavor. I ordered Burritos Barzon, which was the perfect elevated comfort food. I hate leaving bad reviews, especially for new restaurants, because I understand there are always growing pains. But our experience at Casa Del Rio was just too bad across the board to not say anything. This place completely missed the mark in every category. We had a reservation for a table of 8 and were seated upstairs. The restaurant didn't even appear to be that busy, yet there was a line out the door with people waiting to be seated. Seems they are completely understaffed and the staff they have are not trained at all. Once seated, we ordered a few beers and margaritas. Our server told us he had to make the drinks himself by hand and that it would be a while. Apparently, he had to go down a flight of stairs and outside just to make the drinks. No exaggeration it took 45 minutes to get a few beers and margaritas. And he was clearly busting his ass. Running all over the place. We had one small basket of chips and salsa for the table and we asked for a refill 3+ times which eventually came out 45 minutes later. The servers were clearly working hard, but the system made no sense. Why is the server responsible for both making drinks and waiting tables? When the drinks finally arrived, we noticed bugs at the bottom of the margaritas. At that point, we just drank them because we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes. We eventually ordered food, which took over an hour to arrive. I ordered chicken and steak fajitas but was served ribeye fajitas instead and the steak was practically raw. It looked like they seared it for 10 seconds, sliced it up, and sent it out. I showed the server, and he took it back to the kitchen. They reheated the same steak and tossed a few strips of chicken on top with zero presentation. A buddy of mine got the seafood tacos, which he said were awful just two shrimp and some sauce, nothing else. Seemed to be the exact same thing as the shrimp tacos. A bunch of other people said their food was cold. The whole place felt completely disorganized, like no one had a clue what they were doing. It's a real shame because the outdoor area is actually really nice. But overall, this was hands down one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had and we eat out all the time. Since I had munched on a lot of chips & salsa, I decided to order an appetizer, Tostadas Ceviche. So glad I did because it was DELICIOUS! Hubby ordered the Burger & Taco Combo. He got a steak burger with fries & chose a steak taco & carnitas taco. I ate half of the steak taco & it was good & authentic. He liked the steak burger, fries & tacos. I rarely leave reviews, but the amount of money spent here for the terrible experience pushed me to do so. The only good thing I can say is that the renovations, decor, and outside set up was pretty. The service was very slow and were long waits to even get a glass of water. The menu items do not even match what you are served or described. I had no idea what some of the stuff thrown on the plate even was. It was nasty. Never came back to give us what we requested either. My husband and I both were both upset at the quality and taste of the food we finally did get. The drinks we got "looked" pretty, but getting about 6 ounces of liquid with mostly ice and zero hint of alcohol was very annoying. Especially for the high price. We both said never again. If you want to just enjoy the scenery, order a glass of water and just sit because everything on menu was very expensive and not worth it at all. read more

First visit to El Barril Mexican Sports Bar and Grill. The newly opened restaurant is very clean and has very unique booths and tables. We were greeted and seated promptly. Warm chips and salsa were served. The salsa need some jalapeño but had onions and cilantro and was better than expected. My husband ordered the steak burger that came with crispy tasty hot fries. I ordered the Burrito Charro with steak. It was piping hot and was delicious. Our meal was very filling and we both took home leftovers. Next time we will try the tacos. read more

They are very rude over the phone: calling me "honey" and making it extremely difficult to speak to them and modify an online order from a difficult to use online menu. Argued with me and then abruptly ended the call when I couldn't get a resolution and needed to cancel. If you're taking online and phone orders, you need to have someone who can manage that without being rude. read more

If you are camping in New Richmond, this place is convenient and decent. We were there on Cinco de Mayo, and it was crowded, but we were seated immediately. Agree with the posts about the salsa. Campbell soup has more flavor. The only margarita worth ordering is the skinny. Tastes like a real margarita, the rest obviously are dyed. The positive is the food is typical Mexican. If you like chain Mexican restaurants you'll like El barril. read more

Sigh. I was really excited about this place. But it needs to work some kinks out. I was surprised to see that it didn't have a bar area at all. It's called a Sports Bar- so I just figured it would have an actual bar. The entrance was sort of weird bc there are booths right there in the entrance area. The chips were stale, and the salsa was bland. The service was pretty slow all around. Our burritos and chimichanga were good. The margaritas were weak. I was hoping for much more. What happened to all the servers they had in the mornings for the lunch rush they went from 5 servers to just 2 There used to be two servers , male and female, that would always greet us with a smile. Alex and Lauren or Laura, do they still even work there ?now when I go, it's always the same young lady who does not speak english and always has a hard time understanding what im.ordering. No matter what it is, I order she gets it wrong. Her personality is dry and almost never checks on us. Service is key and having two young kids taking the names for tables is one issue as they are not able to deal with the carousel of people trying get a table or name on list let alone manage the names on said list. It started. With, were greeted by a gentleman who asked how many and he then he disappeared I then ask the two young girls who seemed to be about 12 years old to add us to the list since we were not sure what happened to the guy in charge. We waited a bit by the desk then asked to go to the bar to wait. We asked if we could wait at the outside bar and they said yes so sat down at the outside bar and waited a good 20 mins for acknowledgment we sat finally after additional mins and no contact nor acknowledgment from the bartender.l he asked us if we wanted a drink We were served a drink and I went.checked on our table again we were 2nd on list at this point. So we waited another 20 mins and nothing we finished our drinks and decided to call it and went back to the desk and check on our table they already marked our name off and moved on the the list and when I asked as we are leaving they couldn't find our name which they had marked out and moved on the list 5 names past us after my second visit to see by how it was coming for a table. Stopped in to this gem while staying down the road. Ordered a large gold margarita and when they say large they mean large. It was delicious! Chips and salsa were delicious and the service was excellent. I ordered the chimichanga as it was on the specials list. It was fair, not fried crispy, but still decent. My husband ordered the burrito loco and it was enough for two people. It was huge and delicious! We couldn't stop eating it was that good. The decor was beautiful from the hand painted chairs and booths to the soothing colors on the walls. Thought about sitting on the lovely patio but it was a bit cool on the evening we were there.
