I love this place. The food is so good and so cheap and pretty filling. The seitan tacos are my favorite, but the red and green "chorizo" ones are very good too. My only complaint is that the last time I was there, they didn't have the fan on, and it was crazy hot inside. Service was great though!

Best Prices and tasting Vegan Tacos in Tulum I'll be recommending this place to everyone !! Even my non vegan friends

chicharron (top)
 Pastor Jack Fruit (bottom)
Nicholas M.

Pastor seasoned jack fruit were incredible. Very complex and harmonizing. Chicharron was beautifully sweet and peppery. Oatmeal was an interesting flavor, but felt too mild to truly belong. The oaty-ness didn't blend as well with the chicharron seasoning like the jack fruit did with the pastor. Two tacos for $3.7 USD

We got to try El Bajón by pure luck-- they close at 18:30 and we got there at 17:27 due to getting lost along the way. As we walked up they were closing the doors, but then motioned for us to come on in. We got the papas con chorizo pambazos and six tacos: bistec, pastor, jacuita pibil, suadero, chicharon, and chorizo verde. Every. Single. Bite. Was. AMAZING!!!! The service was amazing and we were so thankful for being given a chance to try El Bajón since they are closed Sunday and we are leaving first thing in the morning on Monday.

Four plant-based tacos: Al pastor (jackfruit + yaca), bistec (wheat gluten), yaquita pibil (jackfruit), and suadero (soy)

Holy cow. I may never eat a cow again. My wife and I are veg-curious -- We've never consumed that much meat, but we recently watched 'My Octopus Teacher' and it made us seriously consider the impact of eating even seafood. We're experimenting with vegetarian and vegan meals. So far, my biggest qualm with plant-based meats is that they're often under-seasoned, dry, or heavily breaded to make up for the fact that they just aren't meat. All I can say is, I wish we had a place like El Bajon in the SF Bay Area. They've nailed the plant-based protein puzzle! I tried the bistec (wheat gluten) al pastor (jackfruit + yaca), yaquita pibil (jackfruit), and suadero (soy) -- And I loved EVERY. Single. Taco. Atmosphere here is super laid back and a little on the punk side. We seated ourselves in a table near the front counter, where you can sample a variety of salsas. The service was somewhat lackluster, and the águas frescas were pretty heavy on the agua, but I wish I had four stomachs like a cow so that I could've fit more tacos into my trip. Whether or not you are vegan, check this place out!

Cute little place. Service is really good, food is delectable. Hands down one of the best vegan places in Tulum. Prices are so affordable it's almost unreal. We had 8 tacos, tostadas and 2 tortas and our bill was somewhere over 400 mxn excluding tips. Definitely recommend this place. They have really healthy options with their lentil wheat tortas (Milanese) and fillings like chickpeas and sunflower seeds. I didn't take as many pics because I was very hungry. Tacos are a must here.

This was a mix of some of the taco options they had

Vegan street tacos! I REPEAT! Vegan street tacos! Thank the Lord for this place! It's off the main road and right next to the tortilleria that makes their tortillas. In my book that means it's a BIG YES! You also can't go wrong with any of the tacos. Just be sure to top them off with their salsas, cilantro, onion and lime; the way God intended it!

This vegan restaurant is delicious recommend to all vegans good flavor. They even give you free fruit tea and it's so good. I ate the carnitas (mushroom) and chorizo

Literally addicted to this spot. Hands down my favorite place in Tulum. The tacos are outstanding and definitely try the papas con chorizo which is a sandwich. It's insane.

I wish we'd found this place the first day of our trip--we would have saved SO much money! For $2…read moreyou get FIVE PASTOR TACOS that are absolutely incredible. Easily the best meal of our trip, and one of the least expensive. It was our last night in town and our budgets were tight. I searched Yelp for a good option that wouldn't break the bank, and just as I was passing the tantalizing smells of La Riviera Costena the location popped up on my app. We ascended the stairs and made our order off the extensive menu, but the walk-up pastor spit had us intrigued, we definitely had to try the taco deal. My friend and I each got the five tacos (he had to finish mine, they're small but stuffed!) and we shared a queso fundito and a horchata. Every bite was delicious. The horchata was refreshing and tasty. It's hard to find BAD food in Tulum, but the more touristy areas definitely have food that's less amazing. La Riviera Costena is right in the middle of the main street in town and does not disappoint. The one downside is there's no beer or alcohol served here--but that's a small price to pay for the incredible, affordable food. Plus, there's a number of bars around the area to fill up at afterwards.

Ugh what a standout place. It's kind-of like a drag restaurant, but actually delivers on flavor…read more Only weird thing about this place is the view but you can only blame weird city planning for that. Prices here are good, and the food is even better. Al Pastor + Condiments - One of my favorite al pastors. Cooked on a trompo, these tacos made me go crazy. There is a red sauce and a green sauce you can add to these and they're both lovely. Lime is available, and also something I did not expect - pickled habanero and onions. I gobbled up these habaneros and onions and was a very happy boy. (I can't believe they just give this to every customer.) I also got al pastor in a quesadilla and although the flour tortillas were awesome, I wasn't as much of a fan of al pastor meat in quesadilla form. I've been here multiple times and the food was consistently delicious.

Really excellent tacos across a wide range of beef and pork cuts. They dont have any chicken or…read morevegetarian options but they have about 6 beef cuts from your standard bistec or saudero to lengua, eye balls, brain, or beef cheek. They have a few more pork cuts probably 8 or so but I dont eat pork so I cant really comment. The tacos were dirrrrrt cheap. Everyone clocked in at under $1US. Most tacos were $12pesos and 3 or 4 were $15 pesos each. The corn tortillas were fresh and meat was piled on with cilantro and onions. At the table there is a selection of 4 salsas limes, and pickled onions. They were all good but be warned they are spicy as hell. The waiter said two were spicy and 2 were a little spicy, but in reality 1 nearing blow your palate out spicy, another was drink a mouthful of milk spicy, 1 was couple gulps of water spicy and the 4th was actually not spicy. Definitely the spiciest offerings I have ever seen. Everything had serious heat. I loved it but i even caught myself ordering a couple extra drinks and taking a break. The tacos are good any way you have them just be careful. The meat in the tacos was really good. You always tell the value of a taqueria by how they cook their lengua or other easily ruined cuts. The lengua were very good not chewy or slimy, although I wish it was cooked on slightly higher heat to get that caramelization on the outside. The saudero wasnt the best ive had in Mexico but still really good. Bistec was banging. Beef cheek was mild and tbh it was the last taco I ate and I have dump so much hot sauce on the pervious tacos my taste buds werent in the best of conditions. The interior was standard taqueria, an open kitchen, a couple plastic tables, and doubled up red plastic chairs a big ol' fan in the corner and a handful or sidewalk seating. Its local favorite and now a favorite of mine as well!
