2-for-1 margaritas... all day? Say less--I'm coming. (Even though I'm definitely a lightweight ) El Azteca Mexican Grill was such a great lunch spot. What better cerveza to pair with solid Mexican food? The service was excellent--we had three different attendants check on us, and every single one was friendly and attentive. One even helped me practice my Spanish, which I really appreciated. The vibe is festive and lively, with bright pops of color on the walls and classic Mexican restaurant décor that makes you feel welcome right away. Food prices were very affordable, and everything we had tasted great. My husband and I really enjoyed our lunch date here--we left full, happy, and slightly buzzed because they definitely do not skimp on the tequila. Thought we would give this place a try since it is next to our local Kroger. It was beyond a huge disappointment. Our server, though seeming to be a Spanish-speaking woman, could not understand our simple order in either English or Spanish nor by means of pointing to what we wanted on the menu. Our orders were served 5 minutes apart, and my wife's chicken quesadilla was completely inedible due to being horrendously over-salted. When we ordered a replacement plain chicken quesadilla for her a plain cheese quesadilla was served with only a microscopic addition of cheese present as well as no chicken or garnish whatsoever. My burrito / enchilada combination was OK accompanied by skimpy portions of rice and refried beans. I ordered a plain margarita on the rocks which was predominantly a glass of ice with a sprinkling of mixed cocktail added. There are better places to enjoy Mexican food in town and we suggest you visit them, instead. read more

I have been coming here since they opened. I've always enjoyed the food and the extra friendly people who work here. However, my last 3 or 4 visits have left me disappointed. We go early, usually around 4pm, sometimes we're the only ones there. I understand they probably aren't fully staffed at this time, but service has become almost non existent. I've had to go find someone for refills and even to get a check. One server seems to be covering the bar area and the restaurant itself. The saving grace has always been the extraordinary Chile Colorado. Ordered it today and they had changed it to the same not so pleasant recipe that most other Mexican restaurant have. Please go back to how you've made it since you opened. And please, if you aren't busy, take care of the customers you have. I really want to see you guys be successful. read more

Great service, VERY reasonable prices, and a ton of FINE choices!! We had the place to ourselves on a late Sunday afternoon, along with 2x1 margaritas. My two Chiles Rellenos were ok, not the best I've had, but every else's stuff looked great. Hope to make it back here next time I'm in Lexington, try some of their other especialidades de la casa, and maybe even catch the live music they offer on Friday and Saturday nights!! As a former server I try to give grace. The last 3x I've went it took longer than 30 min to take my order. The last 2x an hour went by when I finally said forget it. It has gone down hill from the original people who ran it I won't be back not that it's hurting their pocket books. read more

A lovely Mexican restaurant with great prices, friendly service, and great food (the menu has a wide variety of options!). The food was tasty and we also enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa! I came here for the first time with a friend of mine a few weeks ago and we both are excited to come back throughout the summer (they have a lot of great cocktails on their menu including a fun margaritas bucket set up that looks great to share with friends!). I've been meaning to try El Azteca since its opening a while back and finally made it over there this weekend! Our group dined early (5pm) since we have small kids, and were able to get a table for 7 without a problem. The restaurant filled up pretty soon after that though. As soon as we were seated, fresh chips and salsa were brought out to us and our drink orders were taken. For my entree I had the veggie fajitas which were really good! The veggies weren't overly cooked or greasy and it came with rice, beans, lettuce, and some pico/avocado. Overall, pretty good Mexican fare- nothing standout amazing, but I'd definitely go back! read more

I got my food via door dash, delivery went good nothing was spilled and everything was packaged good. My food was really good I loved the rice and beans. The rice was made perfectly. I got a fajita I wish it was cooked a little more but I personally like my food kind of charred. But it taste amazing and I would highly recommend it read more

I joined some friends here a few weeks ago on a Friday night. The majority of the restaurant was empty and they were seating most people close to the bar in the room with a garage door. We sat next to large garage door or windows and froze!! Almost no heat there. Food was decent but I prefer my neighborhood Mexican spot. Restaurant looks cool and chic from outside and inside. Everything was very clean (including bathrooms) and the indoor/outdoor patio situation was giving summer vibes. Staff were attentive, competent, friendly, and we had some great laughs! Food was delicious, margarita selection was top I recommend the margarita with bourbon but we tried them all and loved them all for different reasons. I had the tacos de carne asada and would recommend it to all taco lovers. No weird boingy gristle pieces (y'all know what I mean). Tonight was our first visit. It was not very good. In my opinion, if the salsa is bad, I am not going back. Their salsa was as bland and tasty as ketchup. I asked for spicy salsa and they brought out something that set my mouth on fire. The salsa should have been palatable on its own, but it was not. Additionally, I asked for well-done steak. My steak was medium at best. Save your money! Taco Bell is better than this place. read more

I don't understand the other ratings. Food: shrimp ceviche was good, taco salad was bad, fajitas were ok. In General it seemed they ran out of salad greens as there were hardly greens with any. The taco salad was basically ground beef with cheese and maybe rice - cannot tell what it was but for sure no salad. Drink: Margarita: good taste but mainly ice cubes therefore overpriced. Ambiente overall reasonable space and interior but the live music was loud and at least I wouldn't call it good, so the live music made it a worse experience rather than a better one.
