We were greeted by smiles and friendly hello's. Sebastian was our waiter and he was outstanding. He was very professional and personable. He suggested the best empanadas we've ever had and the tastiest arepa for appetizers. We then had the picanha steak and grilled chicken smothered in cheese. Both were served with white rice, a salad and plantains! The steak was out of this world and the chicken was sooooooo flavorful! This will be a new place we frequent for sure! Excellent food and service! 3 of us went for breakfast this morning and we all loved it. By the way you can order anything off the menu not just breakfast items. We each had the calentado which is eggs with rice, beans, and chicarrón, yum! They also give you chimichurri and another sauce with garlic, both were absolutely delicious. Also tried the maduros con queso and the beef empanadas, which I would say are the best empanadas I've ever had! They were so good we took more home. The cafe con leche was also very good not the blah diner coffee you usually get with breakfast. They also have a happy hour during the week so we can't wait to go back for that! read more

It is a nice family restaurant keeping up with Colombian food tradition and specialties, although I don't think the menu should include their version of some dishes from other countries, it kinda sets them from failure. I asked for a Cuban plate at a Colombian restaurant so sadly I can support my statement . You should not try to appeal to all Hispanic culture. El Atico is an inviting Colombian restaurant the minute you open the front door. The decor is warm and authentic. From the chromed-out coffee machines behind the counter to the small wood carvings with little food related messages, you would be hard pressed to feel anything but comfortable upon finding your table. But it's all about the food and El Atico knows a lot about that. The menu can be daunting for a new comer. From various entrees like the mammoth of meat, Bandeja Paisa, and the white corn cake spreads like Arepa de Chodo con queso to various chef specials and chicken and fish dinners, El Atico certainly doesn't faulter in the choice department. With all of that said here was my dining experience: The better half and I began with two chicken empanadas. Extremely Colombian style of empanada if you have ever experienced these bundles of love. I highly recommend them for a snack to-go or a sit-down app if you are feeling mighty hungry. If I am correct, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but Colombian style empanadas are made from corn meal and fried as say opposed to some other countries that bake them using dough. Whatever the recipe, rest assured these are delicious (AND FILLING). We then moved along to dinner. I kept it simple by ordering (and devouring) the wood-grilled marinated pork tenderloin topped with onions and served with white rice. It was also supplemented with a salad and fries. I subbed the fries out for fried Yuca. A lot of starch for sure but the meal was all about that juicy pork tenderloin. It melted in your mouth and was just so perfectly seasoned. The wife decided not to play any games and ventured to the carnivore land of no return. She was hell bent on throwing down her appetite on that meat lovers Bandeja Paisa. The platter consists of (buckle up for this one); white rice, red beans and your choice of steak or ground beef. It is then complimented with sweet plantains, fried pork belly, a Colombian sausage, small corn cake (for dipping or whatever might your vehicle of bread in a dish like this would be used for), a fried egg and finally.... an avocado for the vegetarian in you ;). In all seriousness, this is a monster dish and I would of whole heartily shared this with her as anything else on the table was just way too much food. But that's what us gringos are faced with when having no prior experience in a food extravaganza like this. Suffice to say there was no finishing this entree and luckily some hungry mouths were back home to finish off the leftovers. But this Paisa was serious!!! How can I describe it? It's just a meat lovers paradise loaded up into a large skillet and collectively organized. One side of the plate is meat and the other is a river of red beans held back by the protein like the Hoover Dam of food. It's a wild dish. The steak was tender and succulent. The pork belly was Chicharrón at its best. The sausage, buried somewhere in the picture provided, was smoky and superb. And the corn cake was the cherry on top. Fluffy and just the carb to compliment this dish. The red beans made it all come together. It was like the gravy for a Thanksgiving turkey. And that was our trip to Colombia for the evening in Boynton Beach. El Atico is one heck of a dining smorgasbobord. I would recommend bringing friends on a food excursion to this establishment as the portions are large and the food can be heavy depending on the dish (like the one described above). It's a fun place, visually speaking, the service is very attentive, and the food is even better. A sublime experience to say the very least. read more

This was my Bandeja Paisa spot when I lived in Boynton. I ate here once a week at least and it was always excellent. My only complaint is sometimes they try to give you empanadas that have been sitting for a few hours. I would always ask for fresh ones and they would make them with no problem. Authentic Colombian food. Love the feel and menu. Attica in Spanish means attic and the name fits. It's in a plaza that is too small and slow for a place this good. As soon as you walk in you get that explosion of Spanish spices and the Hispanic music really sets a good tone. Service was good although most of the staff speaks very little English unfortunately. If you can hold your own and point you should be alright. Food was out of this world. Every time I come I get the Empanadas to start and they always come out fresh and their green spice sauce is sooooo good. I've tried to open my mind and get something else but the fatty in me is dedicated to getting the Bandeja paisa every time. Rice beans and an arepa, half an avocado, a piece of chicharron, steak, a fried egg and a columbian sausage. It sounds like a lot because it is a lot and it is absolutely delicious. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by all the staff. They let us choose a table and handed us our menus. They asked if we wanted any drinks and what we wanted to order and were very patient since it was our first time there. I ordered the Beef Rib soup and it was absolutely amazing. The meat was nice and tender and the broth was nice and hot. It had spices and seasoning that made it one of the best soups I've ever had. The Colombian music playing in the background and the lights made it such a relaxing place to just eat good, real Colombian food and talk with family and friends. The first time I went with my boyfriend we got really lucky with the waiter he was super nice and really knowledgeable about Columbian cuisine, he made great recommendations for us gringos venturing outside our usual! He recommended a lot of really great things on the menu - he recommended we start with the empanadas and definitely try the green sauce they give you! For our main we got the punta de anca which is a top sirloin that comes out sizzling hot with a separate platter that comes with rice, salad, and fries! - we always share this because it's big enough for 2 people! & My boyfriend Loves their natural juices! His favorite is the passion fruit made with milk instead of water! Overall, this place is truly such a hidden gem and the food is amazing! The prices also can't be beat! We usually spend $30-35 for two people!!!! I only wish that they stayed open a little later, but we've been there 15-10 minutes before they were about to close and they always made us feel welcome and allowed us to order without trying to rush us our! Randomly decided to try this place out. I was a little worried because it was empty when we walked in but to my to my surprise this place was very nice. The place was super clean and nice décor. It is cozy and small but they have plenty of tables and booth. We were immediately greeted and seated. The staff was very nice and friendly. They were very attentive and kept asking if we needed anything. I always tend to order the same thing at Colombian restaurants. The Bandeja Paisa is my favorite and the Colombian empanadas. I always put Colombian places to the test when I order the bandeja paisa because I love the one from Latinos on Hillsboro. The one from El Atico was very good. The only thing I noticed is that they use pinto beans instead of the red beans and they did not put the slices of avocado. However, they do include a sausage and arepa. The sausage was tasty. I also ordered a jugo the mango con leche. It was delicious!! My favorite. The Colombian empanadas were a little hard but they were very flavorful. Slowly the place started to fill up. Saturday morning we wanted a light breakfast of coffee and baked goodies, so we figured we'd give this local spot a try. I've driven by it a million times so it was nice to finally see what it's all about. Cafe con leche was the bomb and we had the arepas and some sweet cheeses bread things I forgot the name of. It wasn't a large filling breakfast but it was exactly what we were looking for. The others in the restaurant were all Spanish speaking and locals, which in my opinion is a good sign! The waiter spoke in English and Spanish which means I wouldn't be intimidated to go in alone since my Spanish consists of Olá and gracias. Wow what a taste explosion! A friend told me i had to try this.place and she was not wrong, it was the bomb! The inside is adorable, decorated with careful detail and very clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. The green hot sauce, as they call it, was delicious, we added it to everything. The breakfast is small but also includes an american selection. We chose the scambled eggs, onion, cheese and rice cake with butter & cheese. Also tomal with chicken, cooked in banana leaves, extremely tender and loaded with chicken. They offer hot chocolate with all breakfasts so i was curious, its homemade, very rich and i added an espresso shot with whipped cream. Yummy! We will be back to try the fajitas:) read more

What a little treasure in the heart of Boynton. This was my second visit, but my special someone and his friends had been a few times, always with much enjoyment. The service is friendly, ambience unpretentious and very pleasant. The food is excellent and appeals to our gastronomical sense of adventure, though there are plenty of choices for those who are looking for more traditional taste treats. My bowl of Sopa mondongo was excellent and provided portions for both of us at another meal. We will be going back as often as we can to sample the many other dishes.
