Was told the Amigo Chavez was the place to eat. I have to say it lived up to what I heard. I had the Camarones Empanizados this time and it lived up to expectation. The food was fresh and came out in a timely manner. The flavor was rich and after finishing the plate I was left wanting more. Fries are always good to wash the food down. Phenomenal! Found a way here despite horrible construction--and it was worth it! Camarones al mojo de ajo is one of my favorite dishes, and this was among the best I've ever had. Passing through town last night and stopped for dinner. Christian, our server was right on spot. He immediately said, "Hello", brought chips/salsa/waters and took our Margarita order. The place was packed and he and a female server had everything in the room running smoothly. Chille Rellanos/taco/enchilada, with beans, delicious for just $9.99 Margaritas were great and very reasonable. They were personable, kind and efficient. Salsa had some kick, just the way I like it. I came here for lunch with my nephew. When we arrived, the place wasn't busy at all and we were seated right away. We ordered cheese dip first thing upon sitting down because my nephew was starving, and the waitress walked off without asking any questions. When I opened the menu, I noticed there were two sizes of cheese dip and she never asked which one and automatically defaulted me to the larger one. The cheese dip was ok, but was just melted cheese with no peppers or chilies or anything in it, which I found kind of disappointing. My nephew and I each ordered shrimp fajitas and these were ok. They didn't give an extra plate to build your fajitas on, which made things really difficult for my nephew. The taste was ok but nothing outstanding. With cheese dip, two sodas, two meals and a tip, the total came to about $45 dollars, which felt a bit pricey for this location. I would rate this place as being just ok, and would likely look for a different place to treat my nephew for lunch next time. read more

We were referred here and it did not disappoint. We had enchiladas. The combination plate had on cheese and two beef enchiladas. You could choose red, green, or cheese sauce for your plate and I chose red. It was so good, it came with rice, beans, and some lettuce and tomato. The chips and salsa were so good! My dad had a beer that our waitress helped him choose and he loved it. We stopped at a liquor store and picked some up! We will be back after the move!! read more

For Liberal, this is about average with salsa that's a bit better than Vargas's salsa. The meals are cheap, without much of a loss in quality. I had the Santana, which was a tostada; taco; and an enchilada with the choice of red or green sauce. The taco shells were corn and I think the enchilada was flour, came with rice; beans; and lettuce. Paid $33 for 3 people so that's good. The restaurant is small and it can get loud at around noon and in the evening with all the people in there. But it's an old 80s Pizza Hut building, as my friend Woodrow pointed out. The waitresses are on it though, so make sure and tip them! read more

We came here as a party of five plus a highchair tonight (Sunday evening). They stayed at a constant pace but never had a wait. Our chips and salsa were prompt, but everything else went downhill. We were brought out two strawberry daiquiris that tasted like lemonade and were told they ran out of strawberry. We ordered our food and waited an absolutely absurd amount of time. There were multiple other tables that arrived after us and got served before us. We complained once and they said our food would be right out. They brought out the food and changed two of the orders to beef from chicken because they ran out of chicken. Which we were told after the fact and were still expected to pay for 1/2 of the entrees. Then, we had to wait on the hamburger. The food was subpar, definitely nothing special, and definitely not waiting over an hour for. We will not be coming back here. read more

This place is a little hole in the wall place but let me tell you it's real good! As soon as you walk in it's not aesthetically pleasing but once you get your food wow! The chips are freshly made and the salsa has a spicy kick! You seriously can't have just one! The waitresses are super friendly and smiling and always asking if we are good or if we need anything else. The menu has a decent food/dish selection but my all time favorite is the shrimp fajitas. It comes with rice & beans and a side of tortillas. The dish has huge shrimp and lots of them. One thing both my husband and I have noticed is that they are not stingy with their shrimp. Wow. I had the enchiladas with red sauce and it's amazing. I added the melted cheese when I ordered and I think that sealed the deal. The red sauce is exceptional and the ground beef tastes super fresh. The service was fast and friendly even though the place was almost packed full of customers. We had a great experience here. We were traveling through and stopped for supper and found it to be a good quality meal for extremely good prices. Our family of five ate for $31 (our boys ordered from the kids' menu). It's not fancy, but the staff was friendly, the chips were hot out of the fryer, and the salsa was homemade. We ate here last night. Was surprised to find such an array of alcoholic drinks available. Had hard shell tacos that were good & agree with the others the salsa was great. If you want the authentic flare this is the one. I would also recommend it if you are staying at one of the hotels as we were as a safe place to have a good drink. read more
