Our go-to Mexican spot in Shelby. The fajitas are always good, portions are generous, and the chips and salsa keep coming without having to ask. Service is consistently friendly. Nothing fancy, just solid food at a fair price every single time. read more

I eat here once a week. It is always so good! I've tried numerous dishes and all have been delicious. They are very accurate, polite, and consistent. LOVE this place! read more

Food was bland pretty sure they changed the chief or the recipe it's no longer good like how it used to be

Place was packed when we got there and when we left, it's no wonder because the food is the best I have had in years absolutely loved the service food and drinks. Extremely authentic and the price is insane how they are making money I have no idea because extremely affordable the drinks are practically free.. if you want Mexican and you see this review do yourself a favor and try this place! read more

Food - Torta and Quesadillas Ranchera really delicious! I went again. Corn tacos were eh...Other that I'm very happy with them. Your chef is great! read more

Perfect food and service. Quickly served chips and food was fast to come out as well. The decor is amazing but it's a small restaurant inside. Otherwise that's some of the best Mexican food I've had in a very long time. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for great food at an amazingly reasonable price!!! Will definitely be going back there very soon. read more

Just moved to Shelby and looking for outdoor seating/Mexican food Drinks and food were really great and served quickly Service was friendly and spot on. A lot of food with decent prices. We will be back read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant by far. They are super friendly, the food is fantastic, and it is very reasonable. I get the black bean burrito a couple to a few times a week. It is that good! Perfection! read more

Wow does this place get busy! Locals must really love it, but I found it just ok. They really have crowded a BUNCH of tables in here so I was a tad uncomfortable, especially when they tried to seat us right beside a large party when there were so many other empty tables available. I did request a table away from the other diners and was granted this request, even though it annoyed hostess. The place began to fill up as we were finishing our meal, but before that, service was a little slow for us and we had to ask for several portions of our meal that weren't delivered. The taquitos that I got were supposed to come with 2 beef and 2 chicken, but mine were all beef. They were good. My kids got Pollo Loco and they loved it. If you like a pretty basic Mexican fare, this place will make you happy. It does appeal to the masses. For my money, I rather enjoyed Papa's and Beer for authenticity. read more

We always get great service here. They treat us like we're the only customers in the restaurant. The chips are hot. The salsa is fresh. The queso is creamy. The flan is the best dessert deal in town. Lunch specials are fantastic and great prices. We like pretty much all the Mexican restaurants that are similar in the area, but this is our go-to spot most of the time when we want a good, quick and satisfying meal. read more

Decent, cozy, Mexican, comfort food. Staff was friendly food was fast , a good lunch stop

Salvaged 2 stars bc the beer mug was frosty. Dirty feel to the place. Crowed tables. Goofy parking lot. (Wouldn't be an issue if the other stuff didn't suck) had my plate pushed away and done and still had to flag down the waiter for the bill after he went by 5 times. Bathroom was disgusting. Whole building had an old don't care vibe to it. Visit Don Ramon's/Mi Puebleto/Del Sol. They r well ran. Food was decent but EVERYTHING else was way below average. And the sign on the bathroom wall!!! read more

El Acapulco - a sign in a public restroom - Mexican Near Me - Shelby, North Carolina

I absolutely enjoy the food here, but service leaves a bitter taste. My family and I have visited El Acapulco a total of 3 times and EACH TIME, the service sucked. Once , we ordered, we did not see the server until the food was served. No extra chips nor salsa for us. The staff would move so quickly, I felt like I needed to flag them in order to have my drink refilled. All I can say is good food, not so good service. read more

Great local Mexican place with friendly and fast service! We eat there weekly if not more!

Absolute worst food I have ever had in my life! Do not waste your hard earned money! They did not even offer to fix or credit our bill! Never go here again!!! read more

We go often and have for a few years. Always greeted and seated quickly. Great food and awesome service!!! And affordable!!!!!

My meal was way to salty for me to eat. I only ate a small piece, when the waiter came to the table to bring the check thats when I told him it was to salty and he made a rude comment about me been Spanish and not laking salty food and the asked if I was done and took the plate aggrievedly away, left the check and never offer to get me a new meal. I feel he didn't wanted work today. He was rude from the begging and rushing me to order. read more

Second time here. From the decor to the service to the food. Everything was top notch

Excellent service, food, drinks and ambiance. Burritos - delish! Margaritas on the rock are wonderful.

Odd location for a Mexican cuisine but the only thing around on a Sunday. But I was fairly impressed because it was good food.

Worst food I have had - ever. Not authentic Mexican! Freezer burn taste and very old tasting. No seasoning, not fresh at all! Server did not know what chili relleno was! Which means stuffed pepper in Spanish. I was served an old pastry dough with terrible meat and microwaved cheese! My stomach has been torn up after eating very little of the food. read more

This is a wonderful place to dine! I had El Sombrero Chico and my friend had the special dinner. The experience was really nice! I can see why the place is so popular! The low prices and amount of you you get are THE BEST! read more

My daughters absolute favorite! We are well known so much so they bring us some of our order without even having to ask lol! Would like better ventilation as you do carry a smell of the restaurant on you when you leave. But overall definitely recommend! read more

The salsa doesn't have too much cilantro and just enough heat so even the kids can handle it. The chips were fresh and crisp and warm and the bean dip actually he decent proportions of cheese and beans. The chicken in the burrito and enchilada were seasoned slightly and had just enough heat. The beef isn't to salty and wasn't seasoned like we do with the seasoning packets at home. Finally, service was admirable and friendly considering how busy they were. read more

Great food and great service every time. Only place to eat Mexican in Shelby. I love the Parrillada dish. One of the best places to eat in Shelby. read more

The food is always great, and the service is even better. The staff are always friendly and welcoming!

Rule of thumb: throw a rock and hit a Mexican or Chinese restaurant. Yes, they are everywhere because these are the food genres that American palates like. I have not been to El Alcapulco for many years. This past year I've really seen the parking lot start to fill up in evenings and started to get curious. Last week I got an invite to dine. The place was packed. The usual chips and salsa. Frosty mugs of Dos Equis drafts. Reasonable prices. Fast service even when it's busy. I ordered the Chile Colorado. Although the beef was not soft, like stew meat, the sauce was very good. I imagine they don't sell much of this dish, so instead of cooking all day they grilled and cubed a steak then put in in the sauce. Still good, but not what I was expecting. Decent place to bring the family for an inexpensive better than average meal! read more

Excellent and fresh food ..... Staff is very polite and attentive. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the amount the food they give you. May want to bring your sunglasses, the interior design is a little on the Bright side....lol... But overall, great experience. And certainly would got back again if in the area. read more

We had a great meal here. They were busy, but they worked hard to get us a table and take care of our large family. Food was great and the staff was very friendly. We will go back the next time we are in Shelby. read more

Just wanted to say that we came here on Mother's Day and while the restaurant was absolutely slammed with people coming out the door, the quality of the food and waitstaff was phenomenal. This place nails it every time and is absolutely, always consistent. The queso was hot and fresh, the drinks were plentiful and refilled often, and the El Sombrero was excellent, as always. read more

Went to eat here with a coworker for dinner. Our server was friendly and service was quick. Our food was mediocre...nothing to write home about. This wasn't authentic Mexican food by any stretch of the imagination. read more

Best food, coldest beer, and great service!! Be sure and try the spinach cheese dip and fajitas! Our families favorite!

Greatest Mexican place in Shelby. Literally don't waste your time and money anywhere else.

Sat, ordered and then waited over 45 minutes to get my food and I am pretty sure they whipped it up in a hurry because the onions weren't cooked and it wasn't even warm. Two people that were seated after we ordered and they ate and left before we finished. My friend ordered her meal without onions and surprise, onions. We never got a drink refill, or a refill on chips. When I complained when we were paying the man threw my card at me after he scanned it. Only giving them two stars because the food was decent. read more
