Their staff is well trained, friendly and professional - they bend over backwards to satisfy customers. We have also placed innumerable special orders, and they have satisfied 100% of the time. And in support of local woodworkers, they even give a discount to our woodworking club, the Northwest Corner Woodworkers Association. Their inventory for fasteners of all kinds exceeds what the big box hardware stores offer. Staff is unfriendly and poorly trained. I've been to this store a number of times for different things and have had three separate terrible experiences. The first I rented a jackhammer, which required a deposit. I brought the equipment back within the allotted time and the staff couldn't do the math on how much to give me back (they kept trying to refund me the hourly cost and not my deposit, which was much less than what I was owed back) then they double charged me and had to wait until the next day for a manager to fix it. Next my husband bought two different types of lawn care products, decided not to use one and returned it. They charged us again instead of refunding us and I had to call and talk to a manager again to have it fixed. A few days ago I bought paint for our nursery and realized I needed a little more of the white color we purchased so I came in and got another can. The paint was tinted incorrectly and had a pink hue to it. We only realized it was slightly off after we painted up halfway to the ceiling and the corners. This mistake would likely only be fixed by two gallons of paint, not one since now we will have to repaint the entire room. I called and asked for a manager and instead was given the paint desk clerk. He told me to come in and "he wouldn't charge me" for a new can of paint. I'm sorry, but why would I expect to get charged for something that was their mistake in the first place? I came in with the remainder of the paint and he says to me "yeah, this isn't your fault"? I'm aware it's not my fault I didn't go back and mix my own paint improperly. That was his only form of apology for someone on their staff wasting 2 days of painting and ruining all the work we had already done. I would have appreciated someone actually caring and apologizing. He only replaced the can of paint that was incorrectly tinted, which will likely not be enough to correct the mistake made. I will never go back into this store for anything ever again. I work in retail and I know this is absolutely not how you treat people when you make a mistake. It's disappointing because I want to support local businesses, but I just can't. read more

Customer service the way it used to be and the way it should be. It is a rare occasion that a friendly and helpful staff member doesn't ask to help withing ten steps inside their clean and well organized store. There is a surprisingly large inventory packed into their downtown Burlington store. I always try here first before heading to the big box store. read more

On 2 seperate occasions I came into store needing help (getting snapped screws out of cabinet door..literally brought the door in) finding the right screw/nut for a pull up bar (again...just brought the bar in). Jose and Bill took time to find the correct random screw/nut I needed. Jose put my cabinet door on a work bench in isle and proceeded to remove to snapped screws that once held handle. Jose would not accept a tip. He was gracious, professional and I left feeling happy to get these two items iff my to do list. BONUS...paid less for screws than I would have at any larger hardware store..you know who. I so appreciate the service guys! Thank you!. read more

Still by far one of the best places in Burlington, I've tried box stores thinking they would have the items looking for first, but usually end up here anymore I should start here. I love how they show you, not just tell you and there so insightful about the products. I remember my parents, and grandparents coming here, and I as a kid getting popcorn.
