They sheared off a sprinkler head and never acknowledged it. It took almost 2 weeks for them come and fix it. From the beginning I asked that they not mow up against our black security fence and gate so that the powder coated finish wouldn't get scratched. Guess what? They scratched it. I asked that they blow the grass clippings away from an area of rocks up against our house (I was trying to keep grass and weeds from growing there). I called them multiple time over the course of several weeks about these 3 items. Their answer was always the same: let us check and we'll call you back. Never a return call. After they quit mowing my yard without notice I called and asked when they were going to mow. Connie, who must be the owner, told me they were not going to mow my yard any more because of all of these problems and complaints. She then said "Why would you want us to?" So you decide. read more

I had requested a one time lawn service on the 25th, and prior paid the 45$ in advance...I was told that during the week I could expect my lawn to get done instead of a specific day (first red flag )....I called over several times, each call they said someone would be out and no one ever showed to attend to my lawn...Today is the 30th and still no one has shown up... I have used their services for several months. The only reason they get a 2nd star is because they have monthly billing that is autopay & they text the amount & date, & how many cuts that will cover. Everyone else is incompetent. I tell them I have dogs, so they need to close the gate. They say they have notes to that effect in my account, but several times (3 weeks running now & many times previously) the leave it open after they have left, propped open with a stone, no less! They also run over my tree roots leaving inner bark exposed, again, several times. I spoke to a worker this morning reminding him to close the gate when they left. Nope, still propped open. Terrible!!! Scalped our yard and used dull blades! We even requested they raise the blades and cut a little taller. Any professional landscape company knows to cut St. Augustine grass taller. When I saw the damage, I called the office. Our request for cutting the grass on a higher setting was verified, but the person in the office started blaming our yard! LAME!! I guess our grass reached up and lowered the cutting height and put dull blades on, too! She asked if I wanted a supervisor to come out and see. Duh! worst yard service I have ever had. they always cut up my water hose three times and when I asked them to replace it after the third tim. I was told it not there problem it was mine. so I told them not to come back anymor. the next week they charged my credit card $145.00 for services never receive. when I called the lady that answered the phone told me that she could not refund me my money that all she could do was send the guys out to cut my lawn for the next 4 weeks i told her no way in hell will you guys ever cut my grass agai. had to call the bank to get my money back. read more

I called Econo cuts to report an incident that happened when they were cutting grass in the area of where my car was parked at where I work at FedEx terminal of Galveston Road I spoke with the guy cutting the grass he said yes he cutting that area and for me to call the office and they could take care of it I spoke with Brittany the person who answered the phone and she took my information down photos of the incident in the car and where it was parked at and she said that they would get back with me and I called the next day same thing supposedly she forwarded to the manager named Connie and she was supposed to give me a call back well needless to say they never called me back after that they never answered my calls or call me back to let me know anything I had to have someone else call in order to get any response from them.... And when they did call me back the lady was rude and tried to say that maybe someone tried to break in my car which was not the case... overall I would never recommend this service to anyone... Several times econocuts failed to show up on saturday for our scheduled mowing, sometimes they show up on sunday, monday or not at all. Their billing department is a nightmare to deal with especially after they mark your home as mowed when they have never come out. They left several patches in the middle of the yard, dig ruts with their big riding lawn mowers and consistently failed to edge against fences. After dealing with their inability to cut all of the grass in a rectangle yard, their inability to weed eat near fences, and their inability to show up on their scheduled days led us to cancel our contract with Econocuts. Funnily enough, after fighting to cancel over the phone, their idiots still came to mow on sunday after our grass had JUST been mowed by our new company...they literally cut nothing...shows their intelligence. read more

Horrible service. Machines to heavy for residential yards. They done more damage to my yard than anything. There workers cant speak English and dont follow directions from there on Foreman. They are very cheap and you get what you pay for. I would not recommend them to anyone. My neighbor and I will be finding a new yard crew. read more

Provide maintenance to a building next door they blow trash and clippings into adjacent properties and just leave it. Shoddy work. Will have to start billing them for portering services on our property after they leave. No less clogging up the storm sewers with the leaves and debris send them a bill when you flood. read more

This has been a horrible experience. I called on a Wednesday, and set up an appointment for Saturday. I needed my yard done before Monday. I payed them in advanced. Come Saturday nobody showed up, and of course the office does not work on weekends, so nobody answered. I left a message for them to contact me and they never did. Monday morning at 8 am I call to ask why my service was not completed on Saturday, and my response was "he forgot" he forgot!! Then I was told that they would come by after they were finished with a commercial project. I waited 4 hours before calling again. I was then told that they wouldn't be out till 4-5 pm! This is so not acceptable! I will never go through econo cuts again. Or will I ever recommend them to anyone. I now have to pay a fee for not having my yard done. Dont use this trash company. They ruined my yard twice, even after I told them I never want them to touch my yard again. I hired them to do a weekly service and fired them after one cut. These geniuses showed up again the next week. They have yet to resolve this issue after almost a week. RUDE! RUDE! These folks have no clue about customer service. The first cut was a disaster, second cut no one showed up and the crew lied and said they did cut. They had to send out a supervisor to confirm that I wasn't lying about no one showing up to cut, even though we were home all day. Then, Connie said they could only refund $67 out of the $112, due to the fact they only cut my yard once and they couldn't just charge a one time cut fee of $28. So let me get this straight, you came and cut and did a terrible job, you lied and SAID you cut a second time and didn't and now that I don't want your company on my property your going to charge me extra for a one time cut. WOW! Well, with a promise to file with the BBB the full $84(3 cuts at $28) was refunded. They only care about the money and everything else second. It shouldn't be this much trouble to get a refund when a company doesn't delivery on what they say, period! Now to top all this off, Connie informed me they will never cut my yard again and pretty much hung up on me! Mr. Christophe Merriam you better pay more attention to how your folks handle business, your not to big to fail, but you may not even get a crap. I don't understand some of the negative reviews. We've used them for almost a decade and have never had a problem. That's a lot of work over a long period of time, and I'm not exaggerating - it's been great 100% of the time! We have recommended them to friends and neighbors and they are pleased as well. NEVER EVER NEVER use this company! The folks minding the phones are rude, uneducated, and thus unprofessional! They (office staff and workers) do a half a$$ job after you are made to pre-pay! The crew uses the lawnmower as if they were special needs children who have wrongfully gotten a hold of the tool! When they don't come (and that is often), the answer from the front office I s "Oh Well!". The crew came and made a mess of my yard, spots missing, a couple of areas not edged and debris blown into the beds! This company, I guess, has gotten large enough that they are willing to provide sub par services. Everyone (including the owner gets defensive when you call. And by the way, they are closed on the weekends so any problem on Saturday will tank your weekend! Lesson: NEVER pay ANYONE in advance for work. Period. I have had very uneven service with these folks as I usually only do a one time cut at various times throughout the year when I need it. I called on Thursday morning to set up a one-time cut. The lady that answered the phone said they could come out on Friday. Before I was off the phone, they had charged my card for the service. I got home at 6:30pm on Friday and nobody had come yet. I had assumed that they had been backed up and would be out the next day. On Saturday, when I got home at 12:15pm, nobody had come out. I called the number listed. There is a prompt to check for delays, etc. the message stated that there were no delays. I left 3 messages throughout the rest of the day with no return call. That evening, I found their Facebook page and sent a message about my problem. I received a message via Facebook that they had contacted the office personnel and someone would be contacting me shortly. By 6:30pm that day, nobody had called or come out to service my yard. I, again took to Facebook and sent a message. I was again assured that someone was looking into the issue and would contact me. After waiting half the day today (Sunday) I made another Facebook message request and the tone of the message had changed from "Someone will contact you" to "Although we value your business it is not fair to ask our employees to give up their weekends for the sake of one customer" (Direct Quote). They still have my money and service has not been provided nor has anyone contacted me to let me know about when they will be out or when I can expect a refund. In my book, charging for a service you have no intention of providing is fraud. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and avoid these folks at all costs. read more

They do an okay job. They only come once a week (in the early spring, or right after a couple days of rain, our grass could be cut every 4 days) and the blades on their lawnmowers are set way too high for our tastes-even when the grass slows down it looks like a jungle 2 days after they come. I called several times about it and they never lowered their blade, just kept telling me about how their mower is bigger than most and "uneven yard" and "possibility of scalping", which I get, but I told them we were willing to take the risk. We paid for two months, June and July of '13, and once they're up we'll be trying another service. The definitive decision to do that came on Father's Day weekend when they'd come to cut the grass on Thursday and we had people over on Saturday. We got ribbed about the tall grass, hearing "Geez, couldn't you have cut the grass for your company? It's not like we surprised you!" and we had to tell them that we had just had the grass cut on Thursday. They couldn't believe it. Those people will never use Econocuts, and we never will again. On the plus side, they were quick, courteous, and timely. I really had no other complaints about them other than the fact that because it looked so high after only 2 days we dealt with a jungle for 5 days of the week...everything else we liked. read more
