I had such a great experience with my admissions advisor, Andrea Nunez…read more Going into the process, I felt pretty overwhelmed with everything that needed to get done, but she made it feel so much more manageable. She explained everything in a way that actually made sense and was always patient and kind whenever I had questions. What really stood out to me was how supportive she was throughout the whole process. She checked in regularly, followed up when needed, and made sure I stayed on track, in a way that felt encouraging, not stressful. Overall, she made the entire admissions experience feel a lot less intimidating and something I could actually handle. I'm really grateful for her help getting started at WCU.

I just want to give a big shoutout to Alla Kostanyan from Career Services. She helped me apply to multiple hospitals, fixed up my resume, and made sure I knew exactly what to expect during interviews. What meant the most was how she always checked up on me, making sure I was doing okay, reminding me about deadlines, and helping calm my nerves before interviews. She never made me feel like I was bothering her, and she always had good advice ready. Alla truly cares about her students, and you can feel it. I'm really grateful for all the support she gave me and how much time she put into helping me get ready for my career. If you're a new-grad or a student in school looking for guidance, she's the best person to have in your corner.

This review is for the RN IV refresher course…read more It's not worth it for $205. There are limited mannequins, outdated supplies, and the class was overpacked. There were not enough chairs or even tables to sit at. The class instructor Jayne does a good job at breaking everything down and making it simple to understand the basic concept of different IV fluids, indications, complications, etc. I would say this class is better for LVNs or new grads. My constructive criticism is regarding her terrible attitude towards some of her students. She even mocked a student in front of the class asking a question that was completely valid. She repeated the question back to him and just started laughing in front of everyone. Then, when it was my turn to insert an IV, I got blood return and successfully inserted the IV despite being incorrectly told that I wasn't in the vein. Luckily I didn't listen, and proceeded to float the catheter into the vein. At this point, turn around to hear Jayne from across the room yelling at me "NO, NO, NO, NO!!!".... to which I replied, "um, what?" She then proceeded to yell at me for placing pressure above the insertion site while reaching for the connection tubing, so that blood wouldn't squirt out. I had no problem with telling her that I would appreciate legitimate feedback, not her yelling "no" multiple times at me from across the room. I also could have done without the lengthy tangents she went on, which I felt took away from the content of the class. She ranted about her kids and their IQ (of all things) for a solid 10 minutes, at which point I looked around and noticed that half of the class was on their phones or nodding off from boredom. Do yourself a favor and go spend your $205 at a facility with updated equipment, enough seats, and an instructor who respects their students and isn't burned out yawning throughout the entire class. I genuinely don't understand how this page has so many good reviews about her, unless she has really gone down hill in the last few months, or just had a really terrible night's sleep. Regardless, I will not be returning.

Hello, LA county employee and resident here, just chiming in as someone whose been at other…read morecollegiate level schools and various trade schools. This LAC program is a RARE find and I've highly recommended this program to many people. Please do not get discouraged about applying to this school, we may lack some amenities, but I wanted to set the record straight because false information is not information. 1. We have a student counselor. They are introduced to you at NEW Student Orientation 2. If you need ADA accommodations, please see the office of education for additional information. 3. We have multiple computer rooms and study rooms for students to sign up for. If you need help looking for one, please visit the library or ask the front office for assistance. 4. There are 2 metro lines- 78 and 605. Infront and across the street from the school 5. In terms of safety- this is a CLOSED campus with badge access. Students can park at a free and guarded parking lot structure across the street from campus with badge access. 6. The real world average nurse-to-patient ratio is generally recommended to be one nurse for every four patients but can depend on departments; school is weaning you into real world practice. 7. You can log the documents that you turn in at the front office in a log, if that gives you peace of mind about what youv'e turned in. Please note if office is requesting the same documents various times throughout the year, other internal department within LA county are asking for it so they can provide students with clearance to attend to patients. 8. Lost and found is in front office. 9. This is a full-time course and can be tough; you can do difficult things. Believe in yourself. 10. For anything you sign we retain it in the student or class file- feel free to ask for a copy or come into the office to see it. As an Angelino, I'm hopeful for the future students coming out of this program. I know that with OPEN communication we can improve this program for current and future students. When we look back at the places we've been, I want us all be able to say we left it a little better. I will share comment from user Bella L. to the correct departments in hopes we can change some things. Your confidence with direct patient care will be achieved through experience.
