What one say, when after some diagnostics which needs adjustment turns into a $1000 repair bill. Then when I ventures to another import shop the adjustment was all that was needed Is it incompetence, or something more insidious. My VW steering pump was dropping fluid and whining while driving. I took it there and they were very nice at first and diagnosed what the issue was for free- to replace the pump with a used one. Canadian tire would have charge $35 for diagnosing, while VW Stjames, would charge about $100+ if the car mileage is more than 150,000km. So I give them credit for that. However, I got the used pump from ebay online for just Can$112.00 and took the car back to their workshop. I asked for estimate of how much it will cost to take off the old pump and put in another, they said they don't know. Which is strange as according to the law " repair shops must offer written estimates to consumers for any repair over $100". www.gov.mb.ca/justice/cp/cpo/info/car_repair.html They said, leave the car and we will call you back by noon as they have other appointments. I needed the car to get work that evening and just wondering why they would not give me estimate. Long story short, I called back that afternoon to get my car. They billed me $459.94 for taking old steering pump off. Which I think is Rip off! Three(3) days later, the Air Conditioning was blowing hot air instead of cold on a hot summer and another liquid was dropping under the car. I contacted them with a complain a little disappointed and irate. They did not address the issue..here is an excerpt of their reply: "To answer your question your vehicle has other problems sir, and they have nothing to do with any past service work we perform because they are not related in any way, based on your information. Our evaluation of your communication is less than honest and because that is something that is completely against our business practices we will have to decline to perform any future services for you now and into the future. My vehicle is an import, BMW, and very hard to find a reasonably priced mechanic that knows how to fix them. My first visit to E.K. was pleasant, very polite people, and quick. However, they are sloppy. Every time I left their place, something else was broken. They replaced some lights on my back door, scratched up the inside panel and didn't put it back on properly so now it rattles. Fixed the timing on my windshield wipers,replaced them with a cheaper version and they squeak. He also broke my GPS in my dashboard, and left the broken plastic pieces inside. Since I've left, my new mechanic is little more money, but i am there less often. Inspect your vehicle well before you leave if you use EK and make them fix what they broke ASAP, don't believe them when they say they'll fix it next time,cause they won't! read more

Couldn't be more disappointed and disgusted by my treatment by EK Import Auto. Went in with what I thought were minor issues with a newly purchased used Jetta. EK took an excessive three days to address the problems, then send me on my way. I soon discovered that both problems -- a warning light and a air-conditioning problem were not fixed. Despite not fixing either issue I brought the car in for, there was not offered any sort of a refund. I took the car in and after another over-long period of waiting they actually fixed the issues I brought the car in for originally. Only a couple weeks later, another warning light popped up on my dash. Not feeling particularly happy with my EK experience I took my car to another garage. They did a basic inspection and discovered my car had a number of serious issues -- issues that could potentially make the car dangerous to drive. EK told me about none of these issues when I brought they car to them. They were happy to overcharge me for the minor issues I brought the car in for, while keeping quiet about the more serious issues. Why? It seems obvious they were hoping to string me along, overcharging for each new issue as it came along. My car looked like a goldmine on wheels to them, and they were willing to put me in danger by sending me out in a potentially unsafe car in order to collect. In addition to this unsavory behaviour, the people I dealt with at EK were brusque and generally unfriendly at every turn. left my car for collision repair with them with 45400km on it. when i received the car ten days later, the car had 46150 on it. they also charged me $63 for the two tire rotation which normally most of the autobody shops in the city do it free for customers for any MPI collision claim. Not recommended at all! They are not honest people and it is unfortunate we have businesses like these in the city. read more
