I had been going to this Barbershop for over 10 year's. I have only had the owner of the shop EJ cut my hair for the entire time. I have been satisfied for the most part with the quality of the hair cuts over the many years that I have patronized this establishment. Well about 2 years ago I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and I started chemotherapy. I have struggled with hair loss. During this time I had EJ cut my hair especially short/shave my hair shorter than normal during this time. Well in the last 6 months I stopped chemotherapy and my hair has done a great job growing back. This was a nice surprise and has allowed me to feel much better about my appearance. Recently I have been asking EJ to use scissors for my haircuts and requested that she not use the electric Flo Bee razor on the sides, so as to allow my hair to continue to grow and look more like a traditional haircut. Doing this has been allowing me to feel great when I see my appearance in a mirror. Unfortunately my request has been a problem for EJ from the first time I asked her to use scissors. She acted funny and inconvenienced by my request. I know my request requires EJ to use real barber skills in providing me a hair cut. Using her Flo Bee is much easier. I know my request requires more effort and skill and doesn't allow her to be lazy and my request requires a little longer than the 5 minutes she traditionally allows for my haircut. Having been a cancer patient this was important to me. Over the past 4 haircuts EJ has consistently acted put out and inconvenienced by my request. My feeling was that it was now taking a little longer for my haircut where in the past she has been able to rush me through my hair cuts in 5-7 minutes for over 10 years. I have never once asked her to correct/fix her mistakes of the uneven side burns, the patches of uneven hair and not cutting my hair to what I had actually requested. I have never complained about the occasional cuts to my neck & ears because she was rushing to get to other customers. I always sat patiently waiting for my turn sometimes as long as 30+ minutes and never complained a single time. I have been a cash customer that has always tipped very well never less than 25% and many times much more than that. Today was the last straw, EJ the shop owner hurt my feelings for the last time. Today when I specified how I wanted my hair to be cut she basically threw a childish fit by banging things around behind me, sighing deeply and proceeded to talk about me to her employees. I sat there waiting for her to complete my haircut and when she was done. I continued to sit in the barber chair and proceeded to let her know how sad & disappointed I was with her as a person and as a business owner. I let her know that she hurt my feelings and that after all the years I patronized her business I was shocked with her behavior towards me. I let her know that she was extremely rude & disrespectful and that she was more worried about having to spend an extra 5 minutes cutting my hair than providing good customer service. I let her know that I felt like the only thing that mattered to her was the money. So I proceeded to empty the entire contents of my wallet on the counter by the cash register. I placed somewhere between $75 & $85. I let her know that she conducted herself in a manner that showed the money was the only thing that was important to her. I told her she could have it all! I have been going to this establishment for so long that I actually felt like EJ was an important part of my life. I shared updates regarding my cancer, I talked about my grandchildren and we discussed my trips over the years. I would always ask how she was doing and how well her business was and I showed interest in her and her life. I really thought I had made a connection with another human being. Unfortunately I was completely wrong. I let EJ know that I would never ever under any circumstances step foot in her place of business ever again. This entire event makes me so SAD! read more

Very impressed with the shop!! Clean, great lighting, smells good, all the ladies smiling and overall very welcoming. I walked in and sat down, it has been awhile since I have gotten a hair cut, she listened to my wants (sorry did not get name she was working the middle chair and likes to sing). Due to a recent past experience at a franchise Great Clips I was nervous. From taking her time making sure my cut hair was not all over my face to the straight razor clean up, eye brow trim and lip line on my mustache (all included in the price of the hair cut) I must say I was impressed!! This is hands down my new barber and will be going there for now on!!! read more

They said they would charge for boys haircut if she could prove she was a boy My husband and son have gone there since they were on Meridian for almost 10 years and we will never go back again! I don't gush over a haircut, I'm a guy. I've been to Supercuts, salons, Rudy's, Li'l Ole Man barbers and I own a set of clippers. This is the best place, for the money or even for more money, EVER!!! Three chairs but usually two women working. Buzz or scissor $12. Again, $12! $12!!! Included in that, again $12, straight razor in the back for precision and on the sideburns. Hot Towel over the face after the razor, after shave lotion, eyebrow trim AND a freaking neck massage! I almost don't want to review so I won't have to wait or give them any ideas but they could charge double and it would still be the best haircut of my life. Perfect haircut EVERY SINGLE TIME! I love EJ Barber. I live in Issaquah and drive to Puyallup to get my hair cut here. It's $12 cash. I always bring a $20 bill and give a decent tip because I'm honestly compelled to give, based on performance. I haven't been let down yet in the 3 or 4 years I've been going. They are all very attention oriented. I get a #2 on the sides and have it blended. They blend very well and make sure it's perfect before I leave the chair. After the haircut, you get a hot shave brush on the edges and they shave the back and side hairlines, wipe off the shave cream and give you a hot towel. When that's over you get the big message machine on your back, they put that down then chop and knead your shoulders and neck. They also have a flat screen with Korean TV (haha its true, but not always on Korean TV), and a candy jar with a nice selection of bite sized treats :P read more

Walked in here on Thursday with my brother. We needed haircuts I cut my own hair but decided to get a professional cut. My brother has long hair and needed a trim. Now my experience the lady cutting my hair yelled out loud "did you cut your own hair? oh my gosh" I don't think everyone in the barber shop needs to hear that. Second my hair is pretty long she finished my hair faster than the man a few seats down with way shorter hair. She didn't take her time with my hair and did not listen to what I said to do with my hair. My brothers experience was also terrible he showed her a photo of the hair he wanted if the woman could not make it like the picture she could have said that. Instead she messed up his hair she either could not do the hairstyle or pretended she couldn't she even said go to another shop and get a perm(what kind of guy gets a perm??) Anyways if you cant make a hairstyle don't start doing it and then say you don't have the tools or whatever to make it happen. I will ask my brother to make a review also. This place will charge you different wether you are male or female. I have half my head shaved. And literally all I wanted was a #1 guard over my shaved spot. They refused to charge me for a buzz cut ($13) and said "because I am female, they will charge me a whole women's haircut $25". I asked multiple times just for the buzz cut, not needing a whole haircut and they kept saying "female hair is $25". I ended up just walking out not getting anything cut. read more

Was referred to this establishment by a friend. They said they were super friendly and gave really good haircuts. As a woman with short hair I felt very discriminated against. First off I was next in line and told twice to wait because only one woman cuts women's hair. Well every. Other man in the establishment got the same haircut as I did. So I waited my turn. I explained to lady what I wanted done. After my explanation the barbers/hairstylist began talking in their language. It made me very uncomfortable. If I can give this place no stars I would. My aunt visited this barber today, she identifies as a male. She dresses like a man and that's why she went to this barber. Unfortunately, the moment she sat in the chair the lady told her she needed to charge her a woman's hair cut because she was a woman. I was completely shocked to hear this. My aunt doesn't have a full head of hair. She literally has a man's hair cut and this lady tried to make her feel like she was going to get a full haircut. I can't believe she was discriminated this way, I am so glad she got up and left the place because I wouldn't have paid for the service at the end. This was completely unfair and this goes against what the BBB policies say. She was discriminated of her sexuality and orientation, we will be seeking legal representation. read more

They are always busy when I go here, but they are efficient and friendly. Haircuts have always been exactly how I requested them. They vacuum as they cut your hair, so you don't have to shower afterwards. They also straight razor around your ears, temples, neck, and sideburns. Hot towel to wipe the shaving cream off, slap on some aftershave, a quick shoulder rub, and all for just $13 (plus tip). I just want to share my experience with this amazing establishment. My son is three and has some physical challenges due to a genetic disorder. He's unable to hold up his head or sit unassisted . I'm used to stares and hesitant reactions when I take him places and especially if I'm asking for a service. When I walked in I got nothing but smiles and the lady was clearly open and excited to do his hair. All the women were so kind. The lady took her time and did my sons hair just as I was hoping. She faded and edged it and he has never had a haircut that has looked this good! I am so excited to have a place I can look forward to taking my son. I asked for a bald hair cut. The lady said ok. She started with the clippers for maybe 5 mins then I felted her hitting my head with something weird. I turned around and she was using a disposable razor to cut my hair. I asked her to stop because I'll get razor bumps. She says ok and began to use the clippers again for maybe 5 more mins. Then she says she's done and hands me the mirror. I told her I still have hair in my head and I asked for a bald cut. She reply's with the equipment she has can only do a .5 which will not cut remove all your hair. So I again tell her you told me you could do a bald. She said the cost was 13. I paid her full price to give me a 10 min incomplete hair cut. And she was totally ok with it. Terrible customer service! read more
