We chose Eisenhut condos for our Christmas vacation for several reasons. First and most importantly, it was one of the few condos that had appropriate sleeping arrangements for 2 couples and 4 kids. Lots of other places accommodated 8 people, but did so by providing 4 Q/K beds (or 3 Q/K and 2 twins) instead of 2 Q/K and 4 twins. Secondly, the "fully equipped kitchens" really were fully equipped. In addition to the usual pots and pans, the condo also provided liquid dish soap, powdered dishwashing-machine detergent, dish towels, sponges, salt and pepper, and the like. Thirdly, the units are nicely maintained and clean, and provide daily maid service that takes out your garbage, replenishes towels, and even vacuums the floors on request (nice when you've got four kids aged 8 and under who are prone to spills).
For those who are internet-ly inclined, the condo also provides free wireless internet service, although at times our connection fluctuated and even dropped occasionally. They provide WPA2 security protocol.
The condos are within easy walking distance to the ski slope (red lift), but because our kids are little, most of our time was spent playing in the snow in the condo's central courtyard, or sledding and snowshoeing at the local Catholic church's parking lot or in Mallette Park, both of which are an easy 2-blocks' walking distance from the condo.
One unanticipated pleasure was the outdoor heated pool and hot tub. When I first saw these featured on their website, I thought "yeah, right, swimming when it's 10 degrees outside? The pool is bound to be freezing!" Nevertheless, we packed our swimsuits and waterproof Crocs just in case, and we're glad we did. The pool was heated to a deliciously warm temperature (even for my stick-thin perennially chilly son) and the hot tub was really hot. It was quite relaxing to go for a nice swim and then heat up in the hot tub before heading back inside. After poaching in the hot tub for about 10 minutes, our bodies had absorbed enough heat so that walking back to our condo in the cold wasn't a problem, even though we were wearing nothing but a damp bathing suit, a towel, and shoes. First a nice swim, and then sitting by the fire (the condo provides firewood too) with a mug of hot chocolate and ahhhh.... That's a relaxing evening.
I very highly recommend Eisenhut Condos in Red River! read more
