Some shops saw us and immediately said we have nothing for you and were not even friendly when we walked up, with Only a curb side discussion table. Others had empty racks and said they can't get stock or only had one bike in his size. We recognize that the world is strange, inventory is hard to obtain and bikes are in hot demand. No ones fault, yet being kind keeps our business, in addition to being able to provide options to test ride, tips, knowledge and a better price than 6 other shops. Last Tuesday evening (8/12/2025) while…read moreriding in a 39 rider 4-day- 360 mile fundraiser for families of fallen Police Officers, (which I explained to the person who answered the phone) my rear hub malfunctioned at 5:30pm in Manistee. I called and asked if Spindrift would stay open for another 10 minutes and take a look at my rear hub so I could ride the next 2 days ( Which I worked hard to raise $$$ for). The person on the phone checked with the two mechanics /owners or whomever and both said "NO". so much for customer service-- on a TUESDAY Evening!! So I called Trailhead Bike Shop--- and they waited around for me and fixed my bike so I could continue to ride for those that have died protecting us. Shame on you Spindrift.....

Seems like a family run business, and the proprieter was very nice, so I hate to leave a bad…read morereview. That said, the bikes were expensive ($7/hour, as much as a Zipcar, with no half day or all day option). Worse, they were very, very small (none came close to fitting a 6' man) and were in middling condition-- the seat (already low) slipped constantly, until I rodethe last 4 mules standing up on the bike, and the brakes were iffy, though not explicitly broken. Overall I am surprised that the bikes aren't in better shape for the price, especially given that it also functions as a bike repair shop. The trail was great and we had a good time, but it was more in spite of the bikes than because of. If there's not another option along the trail for rental, the market is ripe for competition.
