A guest in my party has a peanut allergy and they were easily able to cater to the request and made sure that everything was nowhere near peanuts. All in all this place has it all, amazing food, staff and good local musicians. I would 100% recommend this place to anybody in the area and will be bragging to my friends that I had the best wings in Australia!

Turns out I had it all wrong and full points to him! Stepping into a large space where you take a menu and choose your table. We arrived shortly after opening (11:30am on a Sunday) and sat by the window. The openness was refreshing and perfectly illustrated one of their beers (Dads with prams) as the majority of patrons had young kids in toe and accompanying prams that had easy access to tables. My partner wasn't fussed on that beer but he lacks the relevant criteria. The food is American inspired with plenty of burgers getting dished out but the beer situation is just as, if not more important. It is a brewery after all! Plenty of varieties and the option of tasting paddles. If you prefer something non alcoholic it's Pepsi not Coke. Food was served fast and hot. Garlic pizza bread to start which was massive but thankfully thin. Foghorn burger for my partner and Philly cheesesteak for me. I loved the chilli but wished there was more steak to offset the large amount of onion and capsicum. The seasoned chips were delicious. I'd definitely return for lunch in this enjoyably casual atmosphere.

Look around at other tables to see others drinking drinks not on menu then questioned what drink is it and told on Halloween menu. Still waiting to see that menu. Definitely not value for money.

Urban murals, matching music, freakishly massive cocktails and super sweet smaller ones. I came for the burgers and after viewing their drool inducing Insta page I was excited to say the least. They looked like amazing towers of meat and oozy cheese. Emphasis on the tower. SADLY..... no tower was to be had. When my burger came out I probably gave my partner the look he has come to know with me and food. I was disappointed. It looked liked a kids burger. Way too petite for me. I asked the waitress about the large serving of chips and if it was enough for two. She said yes and at nearly $9 I would hope so. Once again the size to price ratio was off. That was a single serve of chips and nowhere near worth the money. Under seasoned also. There was more than enough room for dessert which after seeing someone else get one at the table next to us (small again); I wasn't taking the risk. We went elsewhere on Darby Street for dessert. My burger (The Big L?) was tasty albeit a bit messy with the sauce. It's a shame the size didn't cut it. My partner likened his to a Whopper which once again would have been much bigger. Keep the prices the same. I can handle that. But please increase the serving.

Former Gloria Jeans Opens As Respectable Hipster Cafe…read more Serving Campos Coffee the only noteable reminant of Gloria Jeans is the display cabinet which is now filled with cakes, sandwiches and more. Gone is the chain-store branding and replaced is a chic fit-out that'll appeal to the most modern urban adventurers design sensibilities. I ordered the avocado on toast with two poached eggs ($10) and my usual flat white. There was a little kerfuffle with our order but it was the owner himself who finally brought my breakfast over with a huge side of a sincere apology. Any minor grimace I had melted in that instant. Take a seat inside, perhaps right near the grand old piano or enjoy a spot of people watching from the outside communal tables. The service is swift and the goods one of the best on Hunter Street. It's guys like Ground Floor that are turning Hunter Street Mall around and breathing much needed life into this desserted strip of Newcastle.

Had I not searched for cafe in the Newcastle area, I would not have found this place - so again, thanks !!! *insert music* to stop my thank you speech ... noted. OK, onto the review - I LOVED this little cafe. It was dark but airy, a sense of calm swept down over me and an 'ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh' escaped my lips - a sigh of belonging !! THIS is what I was looking for. Their breakfast menu although not extensive, covers your basics - eggs, muesli/porridge/yoghurt/fruit, toast etc - what else is there to eat at breakfast? Like the previous reviewer, I ordered the poached eggs and avo. I was given the option of white/brown/multi/rye/gluten free/sourdough/oneotherbreadicouldntquiteremember and I settled with the rye. The guy at the counter was SUPER rad .. when I ordered an espresso, he looks me dead in the eye and asks 'well since you've gone straight for the good stuff, would you like to try our single origin of the day as a ristretto - its from India and its nutty and caramel-ey all at the same time?'. 'Bring it' was my response. Ohh and let me tell you, it was well worth the try. Free wi-fi is always appreciated, so make sure you ask for the password if you're planning on getting some work done. I would return here in a heartbeat.
