    Thomsen Homes - Stone countertops!

We got a custom home with beautiful craftsmanship for a very reasonable price! We looked at other builders but none could compare. Easy process, finished ahead of schedule and on budget!

They don't call you back, return your emails, or do anything they claim they'll finish. They'll say things to convince there isn't a problem even though their company agreed to fix them in the purchase agreement for the home. They'll also claim to have cleaned your home prior to your move in and there is pee all around the base of the toilet in the basement when nobody else could've done it. You notify them and they do absolutely nothing. You'll also do your blue tape walk through where you identify issues to be fixed prior to move in and half of the tape is just pulled off, but the issue wasn't fixed or the tape was missed by the contractor. Then when you walk through prior to move in, you'll ask about it and they'll say "oh yeah, we only get one chance for cosmetic fixes. You can always just do it". With all that being said they never apologize, take responsibility for any screw up, or remedy the problem. They throw up their hands and says "that'll be ok" or "that's really not a problem". They ruined the house buying experience and I am now in a house I can't even enjoy. I'm literally counting down the days to be able to sell it without taking a loss.

Jordahl Custom Homes - This is the pipe.

Come to find out they put a drain pipe directly behind the drywall. The even more disturbing part of this is that this wall was designated for TV mount. During our walkthrough this wasn't mentioned at all. They clearly knew we would mount a TV on this wall. The drain was less than 1 ft away from the electrical box cut out for the TV. No metal was placed on the pipe to ensure that a nail or screw didn't hit it. Jordahl says everything was done to code so they won't warranty it. Code fine but let's talk about common sense!! I mean seriously. If you build with or have built with them you may want to ensure this doesn't happen to you. This caused over $2000 in damage and ruined our $1500 fireplace. I am not happy and would not recommend them to anyone! They should at least out of courtesy paid for this damage and offered to make it right. Instead even the VP refused to pay to make it right. Terrible customer service and I regret building with them. This isn't the first house I have built and this is the worst experience that I have ever had. Our siding already is cracked, a brick fell off our stone in the front. Guess only time will tell what else will happen! Can't wait to look forward to that!

Kitchen Issues: The kitchen sink was leaking from underneath because a punctured pipe had been installed, and someone had to come replace it. Bathroom Problems: One of the toilets started leaking from the bottom less than a month after we moved in. Gas Safety Concerns: We also experienced two gas leaks -- one in the utility room and another under the stove -- which is extremely concerning for the safety of any family living here. Poor Interior Work: Even the countertop was installed poorly. The edge of the countertop was so weak that simply placing a dish with light pressure caused damage. Friends of ours who built with the same company had identical countertop issues, even without any impact at all. Overall Experience: Based on our experience, this has not been a reliable company, and the amount of problems we faced in a brand-new home has been very disappointing. Warranty Notice: The company has informed us that if the cost of the countertop repair is not paid, the home's warranty will be affected. Construction Phase Issues: For your information, we also experienced problems during the construction phase due to their mistakes

I had found several homes and she was able to set up a tour of them all on the same day. When we showed up we found that she had political bumper stickers on her car. It doesn't matter what your stance is on issues, if you work in a field where you will be helping people from all walks of life, you don't do that. I convinced my partner to give her a chance anyway though because the team should be good. Every home we looked at that was at the lower point of our price range would have lots of comments from her about being "outdated" and "too expensive by at least $10k". That's all great actually, because you want someone who tries to help you save money. It was good to have her making the comments. She told us that one of the homes had "just sold" right before we went to see it. It was at the lower side of our budget and we were really excited about it, but ok, that happens and it's understandable. That left us with the higher priced ones, and none of those really fit for us. She really tried to convince us to get the most expensive one we looked at, and any concerns we had about it were downplayed by her. The biggest concern being that it was much further away than we wanted. It was a beautiful house, but the location was outside our parameters. The notifications she set up for us are all for new listings that were on the higher side of our range, other homes that fit us better (in price range and location) would become active listings, but we wouldn't get a notification in the flexmls system at all about them. The house we wanted was still up for sale a week later, but she told us it was just because it "takes time" to mark them as sold. Again, we trusted her. Another week goes by and the home drops by $10k and has an open house scheduled. She doesn't contact us at all for several days and then asks if we've seen anything that we're interested in. What?! We got a realtor from a different company and they looked into the issue for us. The house was never sold. In fact it NEVER HAD AN OFFER AT ALL! It had sat there as an active listing the entire time. The owners were motivated to sell and we could definitely get a great deal on the place, which was in the neighborhood we wanted and at the price we wanted. The only thing we can figure is that Ashley Christianson wanted to get a big commission for "helping" us to buy a home that was as expensive as we could get, rather than a home that would be best for our family. She obviously didn't put any work into helping us find a home, as she never contacted us about any homes that were similar to ones we'd shown interest in. If this is the kind of person who works here, then it's for the best that you never associate yourself with them.
