I called an hour before we wanted a table for two and I was told that we might have to wait. When we arrived, the place was only half empty - and this didn't change much while we were there.
The ambient is not as cosy as it used to be, but I guess they tried to change the concept to a more chic place.
They were closed for a week for renovation, but we could not see any changes. In fact due to the the fact that they could not use the old name (they already order the lampshades with the old name on it) they just taped-up the old name with black tape, and similar for the menu, where they just taped the new name over the old one. All a bit chic and cheap...
We ordered 2 Schnitzel (mine was completely salty and the other rather needed some, so they might have salted mine twice and the other not at all - the Bratkartoffeln were far to crisp and hard inside, and also the portion size was as small as the schnitzel itself...), 1 glass of wine and 2 small bier. The bill came to over €60! Despite the fact we didn't even got some bread as it is custom nowadays in restaurants of this price category...
The service was nice and friendly, apart form the new headwaiter, who seemed to check all the waiters moves like they could not be trusted at all...
OK, I think this was it so far for us, we might come back once they open the garden, and hopefully they will plant some bushes again, otherwise it will feel like sitting right on the close by busy road...
Unfortunately I can not recommend this place, really sorry since it used to be such a great place in Volsdorf where I grew up, and we used to come here very often, but with the previous owners it used to be full - non-stop - and it was really hard to get a place, especially on a bank holiday weekend... read more
