If only I had this much space at home....
This old industrial complex used to belong to the huge mail-order company Quelle, which can still be seen in the giant "Q-@" sign on top of what used to be a chimney long ago.
As easily as you can spot the former "Quelleturm", it's not that easy to actually find the right exit and the actual area...admittedly, perhaps I should have used a sat-nav, but still... ;)
The area covers 256.000m² and now houses several shopping outlets, among them a shop selling absolutely weird furniture store, "Schiesser" (good old German cotton knickers!) and the huge shoe outlet "Mücke", as well as an area which is often used for exhibitions. At the moment, you can find the "Da Vinci Experience" there, which in itself is absolutely recommendable.
There is a parking lot right in front of the entrance, the first half hour is free, but once that is over, the prices are rather irritating. (2€ for 30 mins??)
The outlets are okay, but nothing too special. You can find a little snack bar there as well, but it didn't exactly look very clean, so we gave it a pass.
All in all I would only go back for an exhibition, as the rest is not worth the drive.
Apparently the entire area is just in the process of being sold for 25 million €, so we can assume that there will be quite a lot of changes here in the upcoming years.
Bottom line:
* few outlet stores
* parking ridiculously expensive
* the exhibitions are usually worth a visit...
* ...the rest is not! read more
