The height, the carvings, the colors, the gold, the water, the ironwork... Talk about iron work, there is a ring in the ironwork. You need to turn it all the way around for good luck. It's not that easy to see, but if you wait a while, you will surely see someone climb the steps, stretch and reach up and turn that ring. It's in the part of the fencing that faces the souvenir store on the corner, if that helps. Story has it that the blacksmith creating the surrounding fence, had a beautiful daughter. The blacksmith's apprentice fell in love with her and asked for her hand in marriage. The father turned him down, angrily belittling the young man telling hi he would never amount to anything and simply wasn't good enough to marry his daughter. So the young man secretly installed this ring into the ironwork, which at this time was unbelievably skillful, as there were no seams in the ring and not one could figure out how he had done this. When the blacksmith saw this he changed his mind, because a young lad with such talent surely would go far in life and could provide a good life for his daughter. Alas the apprentice had disappeared over night, never to be seen again.

Enjoy a delicious lunch of Nuremberg brats which you generally order by the half dozen. Get those on kraut or with some delicious potato salad. Don't forget to get a pretzel and some beer with it. Peruse the small boutique stores with handcrafted items. Not cheap, but most artist make the items right there on site and often they let you watch as they do their thing. Watch your footing as this has the original cobblestone paths. Well worth a visit and a must see for any tourist.

Albrecht Duerer was and is the most celebrated artist of Nuernberg and rightfully so. He was…read morealready recognized and famous during his lifetime. This monument is the first monument in all of Germany to be erected in honor of an artist. The foundation stone was laid in 1828 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the painters death. The monument was completed and unveiled in 1840. There it still stands, looking over the small plaza, halfway up the hill to his former residence and now museum dedicated to his life. As Agnes, his wife always said of him: 'What a handsome man he is'. Judge for yourself.

It's a well made public fountain... huge I might add…read more Called the Marriage carousel, it is meant to despict the various stages of marriage. Most of us can relate to the honeymoon phase to the raising of children to the empty house phase to getting fat together. The artistry is great and a lot of work went into it. I only give it 3 stars because to me, it is ugly. The various stages are all sort of showing the more or less ugle side of each. So my rating is solely based on my personal impression and feelings about this piece and not on any factual flaws. Who knows, you might love it. It is certainly worth seeing.

We started on the 3rd floor with the exhibit why Nuremberg. This is a top attraction in Nuremberg & one of Germany's most historically significant sites. The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds is where some of the most infamous footage of fervent supporters of megalomania has been captured. From 1933 to 1938, Nuremberg hosted the Nazi Party Rallies, propaganda events whose architectural remains still stand. The museum's exhibitions are deeply affecting, with perspective on how ideology and terror reshaped Germany's modern history. The permanent exhibition "Fascination and Terror" uses film, photographs, and artifacts to explore propaganda and power. Gunther Domenig was the architect that designed this new center. The key element is 400 ft long glass steak that cuts through the northern end of the building. He designed the suspended Cinema in the foyer which today is used as open space as well as seminar rooms on the roof. The shadow gaps running along the floor edges in the entire building create a distance between the original Congress hall and the new architectural elements . This modern new exhibition center just opened in 2026. With headsets, we moved through exhibits starting with the significance of Nuremberg, construction of the rally grounds, staging rallies, media propaganda, the experiences, camps on the grounds, the grounds during war and what is now for Nuremberg. They showed concerts from the grandstands in Nuremberg such as Zepplin, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel... Rock in the park. The grounds have beenare even used for motorsports, soccer and the Nuremberg Fair. I was able to put my headset in front of models to hear unsettling first person descriptions.

It is educational with great historical significance as it is literally built on grounds where the N@z! party was founded. Great thought was put in to the creation of this museum and after your visit you can walk around the beautiful lake outside or take one of the walking paths which allow you to reflect on the information you obtained from the Documentation Center. They offer storage lockers for coats and bags as well as vending machines with cold beverages you can take on your walk around the lake. If you're in the area I highly recommend you take the time to visit.
