Beautiful square filled with shops, a large outdoor market, and your typical gothic style German buildings.
I was visiting during April, so not exactly prime time compared to their Christmas market extravaganza in the winter months, but still worth it in my opinion. After spending some time window shopping and visiting the wonderful churches, make sure to pick up some ginger cookies as Nuremberg is well known for two delicacies, mini sausages and ginger cookies! Even in April they had many stalls selling the ginger cookie goodies with different flavors (Chocolate, coffee, rum, etc). The market offers other crafts and goods as well (Flowers, handmade goods, dried fruits, meat, cheeses, etc). I'd say spend some time browsing around to see what goods you can walk away with!
I would love to visit during their christmas market season as the pictures look wonderful, maybe next time! read more
