Either way you choose to go the gorge is amazing. We started the trail in the morning and never met anyone until we entered the gorge, still only meeting 2 people while down in it. Highly recommend! And if you fancy a bit more of a hike we found that loop trail to be great beginning to end.

It took us only about 30-45 minutes to walk around the viewpoints outside. The days leading up to our visit, it showed partially sunny weather, but the morning of, the weather showed rain. However we'd already gotten the tickets, so we went but couldn't see any of the mountain peaks due to the clouds. It was cold, windy, and there was some hail, and nothing was open. Unfortunate, but I'm sure it would have been an amazing experience another time. The train ride was smooth, and the staff were gruff but helpful.

For non skiers, you can go one stop down to Rotenboden and you can rent a sledge (sleigh) for the day for 15 CHF. It has a trail that takes you to Riffelberg where there's a restaurant and bar.

This was by far the easiest way of getting to Gimmelwald or Murren without hiking and it is the only way to the summit of the Schilthorn. The cable car takes about 6 minutes to get to Gimmelwald and about 12 to Murren. The summit is a 30 minute ride. You will need to stop at each stop and transfer to another cable car to go up higher. Buying tickets was easy and the associates speak multiple languages. We took the cable car to Murren and it was €22 round trip. We were also able to get off in Gimmelwald for a peek around the village. The staff are very friendly and each station has restrooms and are clean. The cars are a less than 20 minute drive from Interlaken on a beautiful mountain road. Try out this cable car and you won't be disappointed.

You won't regret paying the money. You just can't appreciate the beauty of these mountains until you get up there. You can buy your ticket for the cable car at the local train station or at the park. There is more to do than just look at beautiful scenery 1. Cliff walking (Free) 2. impressive, modern, interactive, fun James Bond exhibition to commemorate the making of part of the 1967 OHMSS 007 movie (Free) 3. Several restaurant 4. Rotating 360 degree Restaurant Check the weather forecast, as there's no point in going up if the mountains if they are covered in clouds. I would try to go when there are clear skies (no rain/clouds), so you can truly appreciate the sky views. You can find a 24hour live web- footage of the Views from the website to see if the skies are clear. Snow blindness is also very real. Bring your sunglasses and sunscreen. FYI VERY IMPORTANT - if you are a tourist in Switzerland - consider buying Travel pass when you go based on the number of days you stay. You get several perks of buying the Swiss Pass. 1. With this Pass- you get to ride all trains boats and buses for free. 2.With the pass you also get 50% off all Skylifts/trams taking you up to the mountain tops. FYI if you think you will save money by buying Swiss train tickets individually, you probably wont. The individual price value for a single train ticket is very expensive. Especially if you are going from major cities to country side. You may need to use several trains.

This old wooden bridge crossing over the Reuss River may be smaller than the more popular Chapel…read moreBridge, but it definitely has more personality. It's the one with the triangular-shaped Kaspar Meglinger "Dance of Death" paintings. I'm guessing that they've been restored over the years. They actually looked well-preserved considering they've been exposed to the elements under the trusses of the bridge since the mid-17th century. The skeletal death guy in all the paintings is kind of creepy. Oh, and there is a Grim Reaper too. Can you imagine walking over this bridge at night while looking at all those spider-webbed paintings? We decided to take this route on the way to visiting the towers along the Musegg Wall that once fortified the city. It also happens to be the site of the hydroelectric plant and the beaver ramp. I'm not sure if beavers actually use it, but it's there in case they need to pass over the rough downstream water to get to Lake Lucerne. It's all explained with descriptive informational markers. That whole area is kind of cool. It was interesting to see even though half the bridge was under construction at the time we were there (Sept 2025). You can still see the paintings above the scaffolding. It's definitely worthy of a cross over at some point during your stay in Lucerne.

WOOOOW! Absolutely incredible experience. The caves themselves are stunning. They were full of…read morebeautiful grottos, unique rock formations, and breathtaking scenery throughout. The views from the top and outside are truly magical, overlooking a massive lake that makes the entire visit feel surreal. QUICK heads-up... there is quite a bit of walking and many steps, and some areas can be slippery, so it may not be ideal for anyone with limited mobility. That said, if you're able to do the walk, it's 100% worth it. A truly beautiful and memorable experience.

Just so others don't get bamboozled like me, just be aware that there is an intense hill to walk up, just to get to the entrance. Our group was not prepared at all and being in the middle of the summer, everyone was sweating by the time we got to the top. It doesn't seem like there's much parking and the caves are a popular tourist attraction. We took the bus from Interlaken for free with the guest cards and I would say it's the least amount of hassle since you don't have to fight for parking. Sit or stand on the right side of the bus on the way back to Interlaken for views of the lake. You can buy tickets online but if you're staying in Interlaken, wait until you get your free guest card before buying tickets in-person for some discounts. Unfortunately, there are no discounts with the Half Fare or Swiss Pass. There were two places that I could tell that sold tickets on-site. One was a gift shop halfway up the hill and the other was right at the top. Once inside the caves, the temperature drastically drops. I saw some people in thicker jackets but it was such a cool relief from hiking up and I never felt like it was too cold. Wear shoes with decent grip because it can be slippery walking in the caves. Overall, it took about an hour to go in and out. There's a couple of good photo spots and informational boards scattered throughout the path. When we were done with the cave, we stayed for a bit at the restaurant to enjoy the views and some refreshments. For starters, it sits on top of a beautiful waterfall and you can see the beautiful, blue waters of Lake Thun.

Entrance fee was small (about 8CHF). But wow, what a view! And the flowers! Heavenly. The smell of Jasmine was everywhere. Loved the flowers from around the globe, the Roman "bath" and the Bamboo garden. Very easy to spend an entire day here. A must visit, especially if you like nature, flowers, spectacular views, and the outdoors.

Can't believe I'm the first to review Castelgrande in Bellinzona This was probably my fourth visit…read moreand it was just as lovely as the first. Although, I must admit that I especially enjoy it in October when the leaves are changing, the temperature has dropped and the tourists are nowhere to be found. Tip: grab a pastry or drink from Migros at the base of the castle and bring it up with you for a picnics with a view. My fondest memory from Castelgrande was sitting on the top overlooking the mountains eating a rhubarb tart with my mom. A few fun facts about Bellinzona's treasure: -it's free to visit (fee for the museum) - received unesco heritage site status in 2000 for cultural significance -there's an elevator to the top helping this spot serve everyone -there are plenty of steps to be had if you're hoping to go to the "top top"

Castelgrande is one of the three castles located in Bellinzona that have been on the UNESCO world…read moreheritage site list since 2000. These castles were built by the Dukes of Milan in the 15th century. The Castlegrande is the largest of the three castle complexes. There is a museum that you can tour on the inside, but as I was visiting off season on a Sunday, the museum was not open. However the castle grounds were open to walk through. I haven't had so much fun roaming around castle grounds before. You could even climb the stairs of most of the outside complex stone walls and have a great view. It is quite a large area, and it was just fun to explore and to take in the history of the place, and to imagine all the people over the years who have visited the same complex. Castlegrande is located on a rocky peak overlooking the valley, with a series of fortified walls that protect the old city and connect to the second castle (Montebello). The third castle (Sasso Corbaro) is located on an isolated rock southeast of the other two. It is a bit of a climb to get to Castlegrande, but I hear there is a lift that is working when the museum is open. You also need to hike a bit to make it to the other two. Castlegrande was used to defend against intruders, and were army garrison's, not meant for medieval prince and princess to live in. Definitely a beautiful place to explore and loose yourself in time.
