Burned pita Bread it's a shame to call naan
Ashif R.

Very Disappointing Experience After a 9-hour drive, I spent over $60 expecting a satisfying meal, but it was a complete disappointment. I ordered dal tadka, which was shown with rice, but received dal makhani with no rice included. The chicken dish was bland--just boiled chicken in a tomato-based sauce with no real flavor. Even worse, the naan was burnt and clearly not fresh. It seemed like frozen pita bread that was reheated on a stove and overcooked. It's a shame to even call that naan. Most Indian restaurants include rice or roti with entrées, but here, they served just curry. For the price and quality, this felt like a scam. I honestly feel a refund is deserved. Would not recommend.

Paneer Masala sandwich and chips

I don't fully understand the name of Eggholic, but I definitely enjoyed the food! For an Indian place that specializes in vegetarian breakfast and lunch Eggholic seems an odd name, but there's almost certainly something I'm missing. Regardless, after a quick look at the menu, it seemed like a good option for lunch. The food was quick and excellent! I was in and out in under 25 minutes and had a tasty paneer masala sandwich with very fresh vegetables and mild spice. The chips were standard Lays and the salty crisp was a solid companion to the grilled sandwich. The room is well organized, tidy, and the paint all looked fresh. The tables, however, were sticky. I didn't touch all of them because I didn't want to look like a maniac, but the couple that I sampled definitely had some tack. Order taking was fast but curt. It was so fast that I wasn't even able to tip due to the screens being bypassed so quickly. Eggholic is definitely going to fit into my lunch rotation!

Desi Omelette

Forgot to review this when I went April 2022, found this pic. It's a great unique place! I'm guessing this is Dosa Omelet, not sure though. Just an omelet filled with indian stuff and some roti. Was a great experience, and I like fusion, combining eggs with Indian in this case. Staff was friendly and the place has a good vibe inside. They brought out food fast. Just a day trip to Louisville, in town for some shopping. Almost went back the other day. Louisville has some great unique restaurants and this is one of them.

Eggholic is what may be the most unique breakfast dining experience in the entire city of louisville. Located off hurstbourne lane this is a Indian street food breakfast establishment. Walking into this establishment and they got a couple really cool wall murals and some incense candles burning. You walk to the counter and place your order then receive a number and pick out a table. The menu is very different from anything me or my wife have every tried. To expand our Food pallets we sampled the menu pretty good. I went with a Anda Masala Sandwich served spicy for my main meal. It had great flavor and a nice kick to it. The bread was very fresh and the meat sauce mixed with the egg had a great flavor. Not a very big sandwich but very tasty. My wife and I shared a French toast as well. French toast was pretty good. They do not have syrup as this is not a traditional breakfast establishment. They did have a green sauce with it that I will refrain from butchering the name of. My wife enjoyed The sauce. Me I preferred without it. Hard to explain the flavor of sauce as I've never had anything like it before. My wife got a Floating Omelette which she said was amazing and what I would describe as a egg and cheese enchilada with the spicy sauce topping. She got several pieces of toast that Is used for dipping up all the extra sauce on top of the omelette. She was a huge fan and said it was great. My youngest daughter got a chocolate and cheese sandwich. Yes you heard that right. Me and the wife shared it with her and it was outstanding. To me it tasted like a Nutella sandwich with a bit of saltiness. So if you are a fan of sweet and salty tastes, you will be a fan of This. I got to admit seeing chocolate with shredded cheese sprinkles on it was kinda odd. But it worked! Very good. The person who took our order and served us was actually the owner. Super nice and accommodating guy. He actually the owner of another local owned business in happy liquors. His kindness, approachability and great service makes it even easier to want to support local and hope they do well. Not to mention I fell like they offer something nobody else in the city does and it's actually very tasty. Overall, This is a place Lousiville should be excited for. It's always cool to get unique and new dining experiences. Egg-holic (which by the way is an awesome name) is a tasty and place with a cool vibe. Worth checking out.

Tandoori chicken

The food and service are both outstanding. We have been twice and continue to be impressed with the quality of the food. We have tried the butter chicken, the holic chicken, and the tandoori chicken and would recommend all of them. The holic chicken kabob is spicy so keep that in mind if you cannot handle the spice!

Amazing service. They answered our questions and took care of our needs. We don't like spicy so we got everything kids spice. The drink was amazing! I would recommend the chicken kadai!

If you haven't been to Eggholic you're missing out, you might be intimidated by the possible flavors but OMG IT'S AMAZING! I ordered the "Masala Half" from the STRAIGHT FROM STREET MENU and it was delicious, 2 eggs sunny side up with onions and spices I got it regular spicy and it was just the spice I needed, comes with bread, I also got the "Anda Masala" from the SANDWICHES menu and the combination is just awesome, there's potatoes, mayo, very thing egg layer, served with chips and it was amazing! To start I got the samosas, and to drink of course a Mango Lassi, the service was over the top they were checking on me and I loved the Indian music videos and music, so a doc while eating, LOVE THIS PLACE!

Was sick on my birthday this year, and have never tried Indian food outside of my pre-packaged…read moregoods or kitchen, and golly it was an amazing experience. I got the paneer kadai, if you like vegetarian options and tomato-based foods, this is it. It came with 2-3 days worth of food (kadai, rice, naan). I also got the vegetarian appetizer platter, which both me and my boyfriend demolished instantly (who knew veggies and cheese could taste so darn good). Anyways, take out was great, and I cannot stop thinking about it. Worth the price.

I was sadly very disappointed by Shalimar. I ordered takeout and was rudely directed to a table of…read morebags "Can't you just look behind you?" which really took me by surprise. Off-putting, but not the end of the world. Once I finally got my food it had the nerve to be BLAND! I was shocked. I ordered the vegetable biryani medium and both my partner and I had to double check I didn't order Mild. I genuinely could not believe the spice level was accurate as my "Medium" tasted so plain. My peshwari naan, which I'm used to being folded tightly with a generous amount of cashews, raisins and coconut, had mostly cashews and I'm not even kidding, only 3 golden raisins. It was slightly burnt, barely sweet, and short of my expectations. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention how LITTLE mango chutney we received. After paying $3 for 2 ounces, the little container wasn't even half filled. I understand it's a small side but that level of stinginess could not go overlooked. I've heard so many good things about this place, but was ultimately disappointed in every area as a takeout order. Admittedly I probably should have ordered spicy, given how I prefer things on the hotter side, but that doesn't change that medium spice should still have vibrant, delicious flavor and my food unfortunately had none of that. I will not be returning. :/
