    Jhol Veggie Momo

I love this place. The costumer service here is so amazing, I love how professional they were. The food is amazing too. You have to try the samosa , jhol momo and chowmin. Just much love for this place.

    Maintaining that Chinese decor...lol

I wanted to come here to try the lunch buffet. I mean: Nepalese, Chinese and Indian? That is a mix even I don't know how to choose. But I came on a wrong day: no buffet on Friday! Oh, well. I wasn't going to walk out on a mom-and-pop place. So I settled down and ordered a Nepalese dish: #147 Pork Shukute. The server told me it is "dried" pork? Huh?? I'm brave so I pointed to #147 and ordered. And please serve it like it should be spiced. I'm brave. While I waited for my food, I couldn't help but notice the remnants of the last restaurant: Empress of China. It is so very Chinese still. It is just like the menu: Nepalese family operates a restaurant in a former Chinese restaurant, with Indian food! But thanks to their geographical proximity...this might just work? My food arrives. So shukute is like jerky. The meat is dried like jerky, then deep fried, then stir fried with onion, peppers and spices. The resulting combo is very tasty and spicy. It was just spicy enough to make me sweat, but not enough to stop. While I thought the portion was a bit small...but it is just right. You need a set of strong jaw and teeth to chomp through an entire plate of jerky with few fillers. I can't wait to come back for the buffet...Monday through Thursday only.

I'm not sure if anything has changed but I'm updating my review for the take out service. While i didn't order ahead, there is no reason someone should ever wait 50 minutes for one take out order. One dish for 50 mins is ridiculous!! There's also a lot of customers that have come in and left, and folks dining in that are looking for the waiter. The service is dreadful here and beyond infuriating. While the food is good it's not worth this mess of a headache.

Five Word Summary: Did I Miss Something, Repeat I tried going here 2 times before they reopened. The reviews were amazing but I don't get it. the momo as too garlicky and i love garlic, and the lamb curry was bland. Ill maybe try it again but with kathmandu down the road I'm not sure when I will get to. Maybe the Buffet is where it is at? Street sign on hikes lane.

I was just looking to grab some Chinese buffet action on a Sunday. I remembered this Chinese place on hikes lane in front of Harbor Freight. When I pulled in I noticed it was a different business. The sign says Chinese, Nepali, Indian. Well this sounds better, I thought. The gentleman that sat me handed me a menu. It had the usual Chinese suspects. When I turned the page under specialties I saw goat curry. Bingo, I'm in. The waitress came and asked if I was ready. I ordered a hot and sour soup because I always do whenever I see it. I also ordered the goat curry. We don't have goat today she says. Noooooooo! We have lamb. Ok I'm alright now. After I ordered she went over to another table with 3 older couples seated. I over heard them ordering L7 with an egg roll and L 4 with egg drop soup. Ok, what menu do they have. Not the one I had thankfully for me. Apparently there is a lunch menu and a dinner menu. Get the dinner menu. I didn't see the lunch menu but I suspect it is a dumbed down version. The hot and sour soup came first with some fried crunchy bits on the side. The hot and sour soup was one of the best tasting bowls to me that I've had. Tofu and bamboo in a yummy chicken broth with a little vinegar. Thickened slightly with starch but not overly thick. The crunchy bits were very freshly fried. The curry lamb was outstanding. I could put that sauce on my shoe and eat it for lunch. $12.95 for the curry and $1.60 for the soup. I have enough left for lunch tomorrow so a pretty good value. Come out and support these guys. I can't keep them in business by myself. I definitely want to eat here again and again.

    Something's missing!

Just last week I visited the Michelin Bib Gourmet recommended Sichuan restaurant in Memphis and trust me this one is even better than that. The menu starts with a stereotypical american Chinese menu but pass those pages and you will the real deal - the authentic Sichuan menu is so well curated. Each dish looks tempting. The Sichuan cucumber salad and Sichuan jelly were so refreshing. Dont miss the dry hotpot section; highly recommend!! The drinks menu is limited to bottles beers and soft drinks. I will surely go back next time!

Since we've been roadtripping through TN and KY for the past week, it was so nice to eat some authentic Chinese food while traveling through Louisville. Can't believe this place exists in Louisville of all places!! Spectacular.

Family dinners are available as well. I enjoyed my flavorful wonton soup, ate plenty of sweet and sour chicken, took bites of the Mongolian beef, and sampled most of the dishes around the table. I will never come back to this place…read more Let me start by saying I used to love this restaurant. It was one of our favorite. But now, it's on our list to never eat here again. It started with me placing an online order. This is new on their website while I was looking at the menu. I figured this would be best than calling the restaurant. How I was so wrong. I placed it with a 30 minute window. Ordered at 4:44 to be pick up at 5:14pm. I showed up to the restaurant at 5:03pm. There was about 4 other people at the counter. One person just placed their order, another person said her mom called to place the order but wasn't sure when it would be ready. They told everyone 20 min. I showed my ordered and they were going to be me 20 minute. I said I placed my order 20 minutes ago. Ok so I waited... Another lady came in and said that she placed her order around the same time online. Her order number was 140 and she had a long receipt with quite a lot of items. My order was 148, somehow. By the time I asked what's going on with my order at 5:15, they said they go by the order number and they're on 138. I don't think they processed my order until I arrived at 5:03pm. It took until 5:39pm before I receive the order in my hand. I only had very few items, one of which was an order for combination lo mein, plain mantou, shrimp tofu and wonton noodle soup. Mind blowing because I paid $50. The online system also charge a $1 fee, which I did not know about until I saw the receipt. Which would had been fine if my order was done in the time it was promised. Now, the staff was not the most friendly either... the person that handed me the bag almost dropped it because she put it in my hand, didn't say a word and turned and walked away. They cannot be any more rude than that. I was sweating profusely and shaking while waiting for a very long time while I am pregnant and nauseous. Now here's the review for the food. It was not good. We have had some on and off with their food and we haven't been back for a while so I wanted to give them another chance. But their lo mein was soo salty, and they used pad thai noodles. The wonton noodle soup was small container, so bland, literally no flavors, and the wonton tasted so bad. They put really hot tofu that was deep fried in styrofoam container that it put a hole through the container. So my paper bag was soaked and wet within the 6 minutes drive home. The mantou was so tiny for $4.5. Not worth it. All in all, the 4 items that I ordered did not worth the $50 for almost an hour wait, not worth my time or money. I wouldn't have eaten the food if I didn't already paid. Had I not already paid online, I would just had left.

Recently though, I wound up throwing out my hunan chicken. It actually tasted of plastic or chemicals. Maybe it was just so steaming hot when it went into the plastic tupperware? I have gotten the veggie egg foo young a few times and enjoyed it, though the gravy sauce has a tiny but of a licorice taste so use that in moderation! This particular time, the veggies were so bland and tasted more like water. Definitely missed seasoning. I'm not sure, but when it comes to take-out, I prefer something a bit more consistent. Overall, a fine spot with great prices for portion size.
