I was able to try food from Egghead BBQ last year at a friend's wedding reception in Calabasas. The food is served by the staff buffet style. I had just eaten a pretty heavy lunch before the wedding reception so I wasn't too hungry, but once I surveyed the spread, I had to have some.
First things first, the ranch style beans with bacon. I am someone who hates beans. Don't like it in rice, in burritos, or on a plate. But the bacon chunks enticed me. It was freaking delicious. It has just enough sweetness and tang coupled with the morsels of bacon, it was heaven. It went very well with the meat.
The pulled pork sandwich was delicious as well. It was served with a soft brioche bun and the meat was moist and tender, not dry. The coleslaw served in the sandwich along with the spicy sauce drizzled on the meat, created the perfect trifecta. The tri-tip was pretty good as well. It wasn't the best I've ever had in my life, but it was definitely worth getting seconds for. The meat was cooked perfectly and later on in the evening, I made myself some tri-tip sandwiches with the leftover brioche buns.
The grilled pineapple was delicious and complimented the food very well. It's like getting a little hit of Hawaii with your pulled pork. Also the stuffed mushrooms were a great side dish and would also make great appetizers!
I asked my buddy where he catered from and how he found them, and he said that Egghead BBQ was recommended by a friend of his. If you need to cater an event and you're thinking of delicious, quality BBQ... I don't think you can go wrong with these guys. They know what they're doing. read more
