I tried to book a 20 week ultrasound for my baby. at which point I was told they only allow one support person and no minors. these rules are in place since covid. phoned up beam radiology, they allowed my whole family to come no questions asked. efw is not customer friendly. thank goodness for the truckers, at least some places aren't following money science anymore. read more

I was referred to EFW by my sports medicines doctor to get a PRP injection for a torn hamstring tendon. It took 2 weeks to get a call after the referal was sent in. The consult was over 3 weeks later and was told the injection would be the following week. At the consult I was told the injection would be in 2 weeks. I wasn't happy but was will ng to wait another week. Then 2 hours later I received a phone call and said it would be in 5 weeks. The staff where no help and un-sympathetic to the delays. Considering this is something I am playing for and there is other companies offering the service, I would think they would try harder to keep business. I will not be going back to EFW. read more

For a clinic that focuses on maternal health, it is disappointing that EFW will not allow even one minor in the room during an ultrasound, even if accompanied by an adult (dad). EFW does not seem to recognize or care that some parents are unable to arrange for childcare. This policy seems both ill considered and heartless. read more

If you go to the Veteran's Place location, be prepared to hold your breath if you have to use the single bathroom on the second floor of the ultrasound area. Also, If you get a tech named Stephanie, be prepared to get information in an inappropriate way. read more

This was the first ultrasound for our first child, a dating ultrasound just before 9wks. What an incredible experience. Unfortunately my husband was late arriving, and since they called me in exactly on time, he did not get to join us. However, there is space in the room and a chair for someone to sit. The tech has their own screen and then there is a TV screen for you to see what the tech is seeing. My tech was great, she was friendly and explained everything she was seeing and what measurements she was taking. The whole appointment was only about 10 minutes, and they provided me a DVD at the end with still shots from the ultrasound. read more

Today I had an ultrasound appointment at Southpointe. i have been to this clinic many times and had always been satisfied with the service. Today was the worst appointment I have ever had! The appointment started with the ultrasound technologist my doctor did not need to order the pelvic ultrasound because my kidney is not located there. I calmly explained to the technologist the reason why my doctor requested the ultrasounds. The appointment progressed and as typical, the technologist asked me to take a deep breath and hold. Throughout the appointment, this was repeated. Seldom did she tell me to release my breath. At one point as I was holding my breath, she asked me to take a deep breath. Good thing I didn't pass out! Once my appointment was completed and the technologist had taken my images to be seen by the radiologist and as I walked out the door of the exam room, the technologist quipped, everything looks okay. Hmmm, I thought that was my doctor's job! Will not be going back to Southpointe! read more

The facility is gorgeous and the technician staff are fabulous but as a place where pediatric work gets done, the environment is sterile and not very appealing for children. Other locations have a children's area and given the size of the waiting room, a children's area cold easily be accommodated especially when they tell you that you have to be 15 minutes early. read more

Since I have a high deductible health plan, I was hoping to travel to Calgary to get my MRI done in order to save some money. I specifically asked them if it mattered if I was a US citizen or if it mattered if the referral and requisition came from a US doctor. To both questions they answered no. However in talking with another provider, it's apparently against Canadian law to allow US requisitions. Knowing this going into it would have saved a week and a half of logistical planning. I ended up talking to another provider and learning this piece of information, because they made it impossible to fax or email a requisition. My doctor had no problem reaching the second provider, but could not get through to EFW. Plus their booking staff was not helpful in trying to fix the situation. One gave me an email to try, but when I called back later another agent refused the notion that email could be used to send the requisition and wouldn't ask another agent until pressed multiple times. In short, they give out bad information, are unhelpful, and are not advocates of potential new patients. read more

I am SO livid with EFW radiology company! You guys need to train your staff to have some respect. You need to train your staff to actively LISTEN to your patients. I visited 2000 Veteran's Place NW and I had the WORST experience. I went to do my first OB ultrasound and was not treated with respect by the receptionist (East Indian Lady) and the OB. The ob had attitude and the receptionist does not know how to listen. They called the wrong person and almost had me do a biopsy!I went as far as taking off my bra/top and met the lady in the room, until she mentioned something about a biopsy and I explained I just did an on ultrasound. She then realized I was not the right Lean. I was so angry about this I immediately sent an email to complain. I received a call from someone apologizing. I said I was never going back to 2000 Veteran's place again. I had an appointment booked today at 1000 Veteran's Place. I gave them a shot because it was a different office. I went to my appointment today and was told it was rescheduled for the 18th. The receptionist was rude and talked over me and didn't believe that I had an appointment until I showed her my email. I never rebooked nor did I even receive a confirmation email that they rescheduled me. When I got home I phoned to reschedule for a different location (Beddington) because at this point I was fed up with the Veteran's Place location. The booking agent was disgustingly rude and has absolutely NO manners. I read the reviews online for EFW and it was said that, it is not a good place for pregnant woman. I find this place very professional and empathetic. I have been going to them throughout my pregnancy, and I am always impressed by their staff from the people at the front desk, to the people at the booking line, to the Techs that do the Ultrasounds. The Techs seem very knowledgeable, and are always able to answer my questions. I had a student doing my ultrasound last time, and the other Techs were great about double checking her work, and correcting any mistakes. They always give you a picture of your baby every time for free, and they have always been on time for my appointments. I live quite far from their facility, and went there the first time because they could get me in the quickest, but I have continued to go to this location because I have had such a great experience. Oh yes- and the free underground parking really gets a thumbs up :) read more

While the staff and doctors are friendly enough and treat every one with respect, they do not tell the truth about the treatment. I had numerous facet joint steroid injections done for back pain, and on several occasions quizzed them about the over use of steroids and was assured the treatment was totally localized and would not cause any side effects. Fast forward a couple of years, and I have moderate osteoporosis that according the the leading doctor at the Calgary Osteoporosis Clinic has been caused completely by steroid overuse. I have not had any other steroids administered by anyone else. I would never again trust the advice of doctors at EFW. They do not tell the truth read more

Advanced Spinal Care... Have been going for spinal facet injections 3-4 times/ year, for a few years now. After a very recent nerve ablation, which should last a whole year, I found myself considering the fact I'd miss the helpful, friendly staff I'd come to know and see so frequently. It is easy to park underground and get to the floor you need to go, and they do validate parking. The bathrooms are spacious, clean and easy to find. Everything goes according to schedule, with great efficiency. Never, ever had those long waits for delayed appointments - which seems to be the norm in any other doctor's office - who could learn a thing or two from this facility. Apparently, some people feel it needs a kid's centre - which may be the case on another floor. But on the 2nd floor, it is an aging clientele who are managing pain - and kid's having a free-for-all is the last thing we need... so it's all good on the 2nd floor! Keep up the good work, and don't change a thing. Thanks for the awesome team and medical care. (If your patients will miss needles in their spine... you're doing something right!) lol... read more

Hands down worst treatment I have ever received. Received muscle injury in my 19 week anatomy ultrasound and spent 2 days in ER. Went back to finish the ultrasound 5 days later and were told we were making it up and that we should go somewhere else to finish the incomplete scan. Were told that because there are no visible signs of bruising, it was more likely that the damage was done outside of their clinic than by the extremely violent tech who pressed so hard I was in tears almost the whole time. The second tech wouldn't even look at us and was just as rude about us coming back to them while I was in pain, and the radiologists only suggestion was to go elsewhere. No worries EFW, we won't be back and as I work in a medical field myself, will never ever recommend you to anyone again. Thanks for turning what should have been a joyful and exciting time into an extremely painful nightmare. 1 star is too many for this level of disrespect. read more

What's worse than one star is that I paid for this service! I had one previous experience with this company before today and they took an image to one of my joints. For explanation purposes, image was equivalent to a satellite image of Canada to see if Alberta was on the map. Paid thousands. Months later still having the issue so had the joint we imaged properly from public health. This new image was more like a view of Calgary to locate a major roadway. This is the way it should've been done the first time and it detected tears to my joint that I've been dealing with for years. Had the first one been done properly that I paid efw for, I would not have missed do much of work, life etc. However, I decided to give them another chance when I need an urgent private image done for my child because they are supposed to be good. Maybe my first experience was a fluke? They read the wrong report, wouldn't take history from me and refused me access in the waiting area for my underaged child. EFW offers to do both MRI's on both sides of the body for the same price if it is for the same diagnosis. This is sham advertising. Even with a specialists referral requesting an MRI for both sides they deicide if it is necessary or not. They need prior indication of issues on both side .... IS THIS NOT A DIAGOSTIC TOOL, if the doctor knew what the issues were I would not be in need of the MRI. They override your doctors request as to what they think is necessary. How can this be right. They are playing foot loose and fancy free with my pain. They should drop the sham ads so patients can receive the care their doctors request. I would have paid for the other side to have it done quickly now my Doctor has it set up at the South Calgary Campus Hospital at the end of October. I guess it is just better to wait and get what you need done. In this case you do not get what they advertise or even what your doctor ordered. Go somewhere else!! They do get you in quickly but will not discuss price before you book an appointment, I assume the above is the reason. read more
