Having toured several other schools, we were unable to find the right fit until we found CIS. Not only do they check off all of our boxes but they offer so much more than we could have ever asked for. In addition to providing a safe and secure environment, every staff member truly loves what they do and cares about each and every student. It is a home away from home and I know that each day that I leave my child in their hands, that she is more than well taken care of. They are extremely communicative and share classroom updates, school news and photos of my child each and every day. We love that it is project-based and a STEAM school as she has already learned so much! Additionally she is learning how to speak and write in Spanish and Mandarin! We absolutely LOVE her sweet teachers Mrs. Trujillo and Mrs. Alltop and couldn't be more grateful for this wonderful school and all the incredible people that work here!

There is a lot of modern technology, they even have robots. The staff is absolutely amazing! Everyone makes you feel at home. There is one class per grade which adds to the home like feeling since the school is small and more intimate. 1:8 ratio, each class has a total of 16 students and a teacher and educational assistant. So each child gets the attention they need. They also provide individual educational plans. The students learn BOTH Mandarin and Spanish. And they also offer global studies. It's project based learning so not a lot of homework and busy worksheet type work. I'm blown away with everything CIS has to offer my child! This school is everything I thought it would be! My child is thriving so much! And it feels like a real family here. I love how small and intimate it is. And I'm really looking forward to my child growing up with her classmates over the years. I highly recommend CIS to anyone that is looking for a unique school experience for their children. It's also a VERY safe environment. I never have to worry about my child which gives me so much peace of mind!

I cannot say enough great things about Sombrero Time…read more From the very first phone call I felt this was a very professionally run program. David explained their philosophy & curriculum, and made sure we were a good fit for what they offered- this is not just an after-school free play program. We were invited to sit in on a class, which we did. There is a fully printed & bound curriculum workbook that coincides with the daily lesson plans. They have their own printed posters & supplies (nothing is cheaply thrown together here). The teachers are topnotch bilingual & trained- which I personally appreciated as there are other programs that just think because someone speaks Spanish, that automatically qualifies them to teach. Not so. Most importantly is that my daughter enjoys going to Spanish. I was worried that she'd get burnt out or bored and that it would become pulling teeth to get her to go. NOT EVEN CLOSE! The curriculum is engaging & interesting, her teacher is responsive and encouraging, the class size is small and the children are friendly. We are 4 months in, and my daughter sings in Spanish, teaches ME Spanish words, translates material, talks to others and orders her own food at Mexican restaurants in Español. We feel very much welcomed & at home here. David & Ruth are some of the most sincere and inviting people you will meet. It has been worth it!

Sombrero Time is an excellent full immersion Spanish Language program for kids ages K-6 Grade. My…read moredaughter has been attending ST for 5 years and I am amazed at the Spanish she can speak, write, and understand. We recently went on a family trip to Costa Rica and she was interacting the the locals and acting as our interpreter the entire time. The structure in the ST classroom (full immersion, no English spoken) enables the kids to think in Spanish as they learn, rather than translate the English words into the Spanish words in their brains. The teachers are all native speakers which means the kids are learning proper accents and enunciation. The curriculum is tailored to the kids' level and is clearly communicated to the parents at the beginning of the year and throughout the year. There are also several presentations per year where the kids present on various subjects, as well as progress reports given to parents. Overall, a phenomenal program and I would highly recommend it.

I think this overall school gets a bad wrap because of its location and age, but for me that character is what makes it unique. I honestly feel that this school is very kid/family oriented and I know several parents from other schools feel the same way. Just as an example sporting events and pretty much all but especially football and basketball you will find pretty much a packed house. In a lot of cases their kids don't even play the sport, but it's much more about supporting the event or a friend/family playing. I know this happens at other schools as well but nothing that I have felt. Another example is how many people travel all over the surrounding areas to attend these same sporting events. I have been at an away game where RHS has more people attending than the opponent. That to me shows awesome school spirit, support and Tiger Pride! Everyone always asks me about this school and what it's like and again because of its wrap. I always have the same answer. It's what you put into it. All of my kids have excelled from here with one just graduating Sac State and another still attending. All of them have gotten involved in various activities like soccer, cheer, Avid and yearbook. This is the key to me to your success not only here but in life. You have to add value and not just be a taker. At some point when you just take eventually the tank runs out and you blame other things or circumstances and not the person in the mirror. Last point...have every single teacher been 100% and do I agree with everything about their teaching methods? No and again this is also a part of life. You are not going to see eye to eye with everyone, but overall for the most part everyone working here is committed to your kids and the school counselors are terrific. So I can say for my kids and myself "Once a Tiger always a Tiger"....

It's never easy leaving your baby, but I always felt so comfortable knowing she was in such good hands--and being able to watch her throughout the day truly put our minds at ease. The teachers are truly incredible and go above and beyond to create a safe, nurturing, and educational environment. I love that they even incorporate STEM learning for the little ones, making every day both fun and enriching. I live in Lincoln and gladly make the drive because the teachers and staff here are exceptional. Ms. Susan, the director, is amazing, and Brandy is so involved, caring, and attentive. I could name so many more because everyone there is wonderful. It's so rewarding to see how the children grow and thrive, and we look forward to watching our daughter continue to grow through the Child Time program. We are forever grateful for all the love and care the entire team has given our daughter from the very beginning!

So everyone is aware myself as well as 5 other families left this school due to them not caring about the children. I have witnessed neglect, abuse, and dishonesty of the teachers and directors. Lana and Tere especially. My child was here from age 5 months until 2 years when we just witnessed getting worse. The teachers do not like working here and you can tell with the amount of teacher turnover around they get. A total of 5 directors worked there at the time of us going here. They don't care about anything you voice or concerns you may have. The state has done multiple visits due to multiple concerns with families. Please see my initial post that was obviously deleted by this poorly managed school.
