So first and most important, this restaurant is now called "Old Dutch." And it is situated with a view of this historical and really nice Central Square in Maastricht. The first positive sign was the simple fact that they were open at 10 in the morning in the middle of the week, as indicated by the super friendly server when I walked up and asked.
I then ordered an appetizer and one of the gourmet coffees and was not only blown away by how well presented and made everything was but also they brought a chunk of fresh baguette with butter.
I have occasion to be in this area about once a week and have traveled pretty much all of the cafés in the Square, and this one is overall top one or two. If you come here as a tourist and are looking for a place to eat the amount of café choices can be overwhelming, but come here first. read more
