I was in a parking lot after a vehicle accident where the police department had contacted the tow company to assist with the vehicles. I was traveling with my two children and in a rental car. I was on the phone with my insurance company as well as with the rental car company to try and figure out where I needed the car to be towed to. The driver stood next to me and a police officer while I asked him to please return it to the airport rental car location (as opposed to another rental car location that was closer) so that I could get a new rental car. He agreed, and my kids and I received an escort to the rental car location while we awaited delivery of the rental car to the location. After about an hour of waiting, I called the tow company only to find out the driver took the rental car back to the yard. At this point, I realized in the shuffle, I had no receipt, no paperwork, no contact card- just the word of the driver (his name might be Steven) as he was going to be following me over. I thought he was there to help because he was working with the police station. Come to find out that company does not " work with" neither the rental car company nor my insurance company (which of course they never told me in the parking lot.) I tried to explain my situation, as it appeared that was a misunderstanding- this is going to be a claim handled by insurance, I needed a new car and the rental car company needed the old one first. After talking to a horrible woman on the phone, I realized there was no misunderstanding, this company has no problem ripping off people in need. The only resolution Pacific Towing offered in order to release the vehicle was for me to read them my credit card card number over the phone so they could charge me $460.50, and then they would drive the vehicle 12 miles to where we were. She refused my suggestion of having the driver, bring the vehicle and showing me an invoice. I have no receipt, no paperwork whatsoever for this company, and I had to give them my credit card card from the airport in order for them to deliver the vehicle. He eventually showed up at the airport hours later so I could finally get my replacement vehicle and continue my vacation. He offered no apology, only excuses and complaints about how this is going to make the company look bad. How you look someone dead in the face and lie to them and take a vehicle hostage so that you can make money is beyond me.

Steve was helpful and kind ---it was incredibly comforting to see a friendly face after what happened. He only charged us for a half hour when he could have easily charged us more considering the trouble he had finding us and coming out at that hour. I wouldn't usually say this about getting my car towed but I have to say it was a pretty pleasant experience, all considered. Thanks Steve!

During the next two weeks I asked everyone I could for a ride to go retrieve my belongings from my vehicle & finally found someone willing to drive me. I had to take the day off work because the tow yard is closed on the weekends and is only open during bankers hours from 8-5. I called when we started out to make sure they knew we were coming & the guy said no problem although he would charge a fee for coming to unlock the gate. I figured he might want $50 and was fine with that. When I finally arrived-and only 30 minutes after they'd closed-I called and told the guy we were there. He then told me he was eating dinner and would come open the gate for $200! I was dumbfounded and explained that I couldn't afford to pay that much & the man grumbled something else and hung up. About 10 minutes later a truck pulled up next to us and a rough looking guy growled out the window that we needed to get the f*** off his property and that we were causing his cameras to go off. When we tried to explain our situation he told us to get our sh** together and get off his property again. What happened to customer service? He wasted his time and gas to show up there anyway, would it really have hurt him to unlock the gate and allow us to grab the stuff from my vehicle? I live almost 3 hours away and now will have to try to figure out how to come back down here, again. As hard as it was the first time, I am not real optimistic about it happening a second time. With all the money that tow companies charge, I doubt it would have really hurt him to have a little compassion and try to be helpful this one time. I mean he obviously won't have a hard time figuring out some other way to squeeze the next guy who comes in after having hard times. What a jerk! I hope that someone else will call a different company and not give this man anymore business he doesn't appreciate.
