I had such a great experience as a first time patient of Dr Tsai. I needed a PCP and was referred from my other doctor. Making an appointment was easy, the front desk staff is very thorough on the phone, checking me in, and even on the way out. The MA/Nurse was incredible, so friendly and made me feel so comfortable. Dr Tsai is awesome! He was so patient with me and answered all my questions and reassured all my concerns. He had a great explanation for anything I was brining up to ask about. He's so friendly & so professional. I've never had a male doctor before and couldn't be happier after meeting him. I felt heard and respected. It was such a smooth and painless appointment. So glad I was referred to him! Side note: a negative review below said he was in his 70's which made me nervous. That is incorrect. Dr Tsai must be in his 40's/early 50's if that. That was a false Yelp review. Easy parking, easy paperwork, just bring your ID, Insurance card & prepare to pay your copay or deductible. Please learn how your insurance works before blaming an office for their billing codes. Anything beyond a yearly/no issue physical will most likely be billed differently. I have been seeing Dr Tsai for several years. He's very easy to talk to and spends a good amount of time with you at each visit. He keeps good notes on each visit and is able to discuss prior concerns with detail. What I like most about Dr Tsai is that he is collaborative in his approach to treatment. He doesn't shutdown your ideas like a lot of doctors do. He considers what you want and discusses the pros and cons rather than telling you what you must do. When my wife lost her primary care physician I talked her into going to see Dr Tsai. She was not initially impressed with him, but went back due to my pestering, and now she loves him. Ridiculously unprofessional. Waited 25 mins to be let in (after appt .time), plus another 38 mins for a doctor to come into the room (left at that point). When asking front lady reason for delay at the beginning, she responded with: "You know, peoples health problems are serious" - which I never assumed they were not. When wife called to follow-up, same lady said if we didn't like it we can go to any other doctor. Super rude and low level of service. read more

Dr. Edward K. Tsai is a Doctor of Osteopathy specializing in Family Practice. I like Dr. Tsai, his office, and his staff. Dr. Tsai's modest office is well maintained and staffed. It's small. For me, that's good. He is one doctor..not a group of doctors. One doctor that treats one patient at a time. What a *novel* concept. He is proactive and conversational about treatment and diagnosis options. I discussed several different alternatives with him. Dr. Tsai helped me set up an "at my leisure" blood panel with a popular phlebotomy lab so that I could make my appointment for an annual physical when it was convenient and the results could be reviewed. Dr. Tsai maintains client records electronically. With the exception of the first battery of bubble-check in processing paperwork, Dr. Tsai keeps notes on his laptop during the visit. Dr. Tsai and his staff actually took the time and "talked" with me. At the time, I lost my voice. I sounded like Wolfman Jack. But these people took the time to talk with me during my visit. Dr. Tsai and I joked about bacteria relating to antibiotics (in the specific example of an upper respiratory infection of which I was suffering) ... Dr. Tsai said bacteria mutate and adapt to compensate for the attack of the antibiotic. I said that bacteria in that way were like the Borg, and Dr. Tsai related to me that he attended school at Pomona College for a period of time, right near the famed Oldenborg Center from where it is documented the name of Star Trek's "the Borg" was derived. On my way out, I mentioned (in my Wolfman Jack raspiness) to one of the two young gals supporting Dr. Tsai as receptionist/practitioner/assistant that her coworker reminded me of an actress in a recent movie (Anna Kendrick starring opposite George Clooney and Vera Farmiga in "Up In The Air"). She related. Dr. Tsai has been treating our family since we moved to Las Vegas in 2013. You can tell he is giving you real care each time you see him. He never rushes us (even when we have to bring our 3 young children with us). He answers questions fully and doesn't cut corners. So many doctors have revolving doors and they treat you like a number. Dr Tsai and his staff do not do that. I appreciate the small office and every time we have an appointment it is an easy pleasant experience. read more

Great Family Doctor for my mother and I . My mothers English isn't the best so we make our appts together and get our follow ups on test results. I help explain what is going on to her and orders test snd treatments , then we follow up when it's time for my checkups . He is genuinely concerned and wants to make sure every possible route is tested before we make a final diagnosis and med routine. He won't over write to many meds if not needled and as long as our health is in line be happy. Thank You Dr Tsai and your lovely assistance . Dr. Tsai gets five stars. His receptionist gets two. I found Dr. Tsai on Yelp and based on the reviews expected a short wait time. We scheduled the day before for a 9am appointment. At 9:30, when the terse receptionist called my husband up to pay his co-pay, he asked how much longer we'd be waiting. His receptionist said, "about 30 minutes." I asked how they could be running an hour late when they had just opened 30 minutes ago. Her response, "the doctor was delayed by one of OUR patients." (Emphasis hers). It was our first time at the office, but I thought, Well, what am I? No apology, no informing us that he was running so late when we first got there. I was not at all impressed, but then we met Dr. Tsai. He is kind, compassionate, takes his time, listens and as the others have stated, is conservative with his protocols. EDIT: Since submitting this review I was billed an additional $18 for a total of $115 for my free check up! Also their main argument for billing me the way they did was that it was not a check up but it says check up right on the bill! DO NOT GO HERE!!! Completely incompetent! I came in to see Dr Tsai for my regular check up which I told them when I made the appointment and multiple times while I was there. During my check up I mentioned the fact that I have a hard time breathing while running. This somehow turned my check up into coming in for shortness of breath. I've mentioned this to other doctors and been prescribed an inhaler without being charged. Check ups are covered by my insurance 100% with no deductible. Whatever they put me in as is not covered at all until reaching my deductible. So now I'm out $96 because they don't know how to do their job! I was very nice when I called to explain this to them and they were extremely rude and argued with me. I highly recommend finding a better doctor! read more

Still a regular patient with Dr. TsaI... The negative reviews, as few as there are, are so petty it's almost laughable!! Has anyone ever heard of a "Specialist?" If you have an identified illness, you see a specialist! You get a referral. As a family Doctor, Dr. Tsai is the best you're going to get. EVERYONE has a bad day so expecting you that you catch one of the office staff on a bad day is a no brainer. If you're normal, you understand and work through it. Some of the Office Staff have changed and they just keep getting better. When it comes to "Patient Care" when was the last time a Doctor called you back after leaving a message, after hours, on the week-end or his staff had you in his office the same day you need to see him? I was recommended to Dr. Tsai by a former co-worker who had great things to say about him when I was new in town and needing to find a new general care practitioner. Dr. Tsai might be the best doctor ever, but I'll never know because of how rude his receptionist was. I called to ask about making an appointment, said I had never been in there before and that I was pointed to Dr. Tsai by a co-worker. The receptionist proceeded to ask the usual question of what kind of insurance I had and as I was digging my cards out of my purse I told her that I had already looked up Dr. Tsai on my insurance plan and he was in my network. I told her what kind of insurance I had and was ready to give her my info when she rudely cut me off and said "We aren't accepting new patients right now." I understand that, it happens. But I asked why she even bothered to ask what kind of insurance I had - obviously it didn't matter- if they weren't taking new patients. Why didn't she just say that up front? Rudely again she said, "well if you had medicare we would take you," I replied that I did not and she just hung up on me! No goodbye, no have a nice day, no sorry for the inconvenience, nothing. She just hung up! I understand doctors get full and can't always take new patients, but there are more polite ways for staff to explain it. They could also - POLITELY - just say when they answer that they aren't accepting new patients unless they have medicare. Easy and simple. The receptionist was just plain rude and acted as though I was inconveniencing her by even calling. Sadly, rude front of the house staff just seems to be the norm in this city. read more

Would not recommend Dr Tsai! I had to see him 2 times just to get him to understand that I needed a pre-authorization in order to get a necessary vaccine. Which he never really understood so I had to call his office (they never call back by the way) they finally told me he wouldn't do it because it was too expensive to order, thats what the pre-authorization to insurance are for! Im not ok with someone wasting my time so they can get extra payouts. And the office staff is clueless and rude. Such a wast of time. read more

If I still lived in Las Vegas, Dr. Tsai would still be my PCP. I was having a hard time finding a doctor when I switched jobs and my previous one was no longer in my network. I was referred to Dr. Tsai by my friend's mom and can only say great things about Dr. Tsai. He takes the time to talk to you and answer your questions and you never feel rushed through the appointment. I never had to wait long with my appointments which is great since many offices make you wait a while before you actually see the doctor. I've referred many of my friends to him and they all have been happy with their experiences as well. The only thing I would change is the way the receptionist can sometimes talk to you like a child over the phone. If i call for an appointment, I really don't need a lecture.. just tell me if you have one available or not! read more

Awesome doctor. He rarely makes you wait more than 5 minutes which is super important to me and my family. He's also very careful about prescribing which I appreciate because there are enough shady doctors in Las Vegas. The prices without insurance are cheaper than other family doctors and he's a really nice guy that is good at his job and doesn't rush you. read more

Me and my gf both go to Dr. Tsai and he is great. He is one of the only Drs we have seen in Las Vegas that takes the time to talk to you and seems legitimately concerned with how you are doing. As for the wait time issues people have mentioned we have never had to wait very long and it is usually faster than other places we have been. read more

Update: I actually had an appointment with him after writing this. The last couple of times I must have caught him on a bad day, because the appointment went very well. I updated my rating, but I'm still giving him less than 5 because I waited an hour after my appointment time to see him. I started seeing Dr. Tsai last year, after moving to Vegas. I had been with the same doctor for 12 years, and I was very worried about finding another doctor who I could trust as much as her. Dr. Tsai's reviews were okay, and everyone seemed to think he was nice, so I decided to give him a shot. The good: -Getting an appointment is very easy, even at the last minute. -His staff is very kind. -He likes to cover all of his bases, which is always a good thing. -He has his email posted in the waiting room, which indicates that he wants to be there for his patients. The "meh": -Wait times can be ridiculous. -I've been seeing him for almost a year, and he still doesn't seem to know who I am. We have had the same conversation 3 times. My daughter's pediatrician knows my name, and she has seen me less than Dr. Tsai. Some people don't think this is a big deal, but I really have a difficult time building trust with someone who can't be bothered to learn my name or remember our conversations. I have never left that office feeling comfortable with the visit I just had because I just don't feel like I'm welcome there. The "not-a-big-deal-but-worth-mentioning-just-as-a-heads-up": He doesn't share his office with another doctor. This is weird for me, as I have never gone to a doctor who doesn't have at least one other doctor in the office. Around the first of the year, I needed a prescription refilled. I called to make an appointment, only to get a recording saying that they were out until a week from the day I called. My prescription was going to run out the day after they were back, so I had to call and hope that they could get me in (they could--again, they excel in last-minute appointments) that day. I understand that doctors are people, and they need breaks, so I'm not upset about his office being closed. It would have been nice, however, if he had done something to let his patients know. Maybe a postcard? I don't know--even asking for that seems like I'm asking too much. I just think it's a good idea to let your patients know you won't be in the office, just in case they need refills or something. Would I recommend Dr. Tsai? Sure. He's not a bad guy. Unfortunately in the last several months coming to this facility, Dr Tsai's services and office have shown to be rather below average... The office girls are constantly screwing up paperwork and referral requests. Dr Tsai never seems 100% confident in his responses to questions. He is always asking, "well, what do you think may be a good solution to your ailment?" not that I don't appreciate a doctor whom takes my concerns and questions, etc. into consideration, but its another thing when he is always asking you [the patient] questions that he the doctor should be answering not asking... Really like Dr Tsai. He's very caring and easy to talk to. Best part is it's very easy to make an appointment and be seen. Rarely have to wait much past an appointment time and often they have same day appointments. Dr. Tsai is a pretty decent doctor and the staff is friendly, but as other reviewers have noticed, his staff screws up too much for me, so I switched and am with a doctor and staff that are spot-on. I received strange bills in the mail over and above what medicare said I should have been billed, and once received a bill for $1.50. I have been Dr. Tsai's patient for about four years now, and I love everything about his office and practice. I grew up in a family that never had a 'family doctor' and always spent hours waiting in Quick Care, but as an adult that really didn't appeal to me. Over the years I have seen him for a variety of reasons (trouble breathing, flu, cold, cough, head pain, check ups and lab work), and he always takes the time to listen and take me seriously. I recently wanted some bloodwork done just to check something out, which he ordered no problem. When I told my mom - a former nurse - she was so surprised that a doctor was willing to listen to what I was worried about and order the labs for me. The absolute best thing about his office is how easy it is to get in for an appointment. Usually it is that day or the next day. My last visit was a 48 hour wait, and when I told him about it he was surprised, apologized, and asked me who I talked to. In office I usually wait less than 15 minutes to get in the room and maybe 5 minutes in the room. I also love that I don't have to fill out paperwork EVERY. TIME. I. GO. I did it the first time, and he keeps all files electronically (which means when I complained about a symptom that is new he was easily able to confirm that with his own electronic notes.) read more

Terrible doctor. He is nice but didn't diagnose me with high blood blood pressure after 6 visits in a row where it was high; I had to ask him to diagnose it. Saw him at least 8 times over the last year and yet he didn't remember anything I told him from previous visits; each visit was spent going over everything I told him three weeks before, and three weeks before that. The blonde receptionist is an idiot and charges more than the copay for the visit, she also won't tell him to refill your prescriptions if you call it in. You will have to see him in person to get a refill. I have medications I have to take every day that I can't get refilled even though I have called them 3 times. One of my meds was discontinued and he won't send in a rx for one that is currently in production. read more

I had to update my post because I see so many horrible reviews. First of all, I've been a regular patient of Dr. Tsai for 12 years now. He always remembers my name (the comments about him forgetting people.... so not true. Maybe you're just a forgettable person...) He ALWAYS takes as much time as I need, when he and I are discussing my medical needs. I was literally a patient of his when he was first in his practice. His office girls then, were a mother and a daughter that were fantastic!!! I loved them! While I have been made to feel bad a couple of times by just one woman who works there currently, all of his other staff is always sweet and kind. I will not judge my Dr off of ONE bad egg. It has been discussed with him privately, by phone and he knows the situation, and takes her silliness worth less than a grain of salt. I digress. His professionalism is aces, and anyone who has had a bad experience with him, obviously is just a hard to please person. Period. He has called me after hours for over 12 years, when I've needed something. While this certain staff member made me feel bad about that one time, he reassured me that I could leave after hours messages for him and to ignore that advice... That is a good doctor; one who will call you after hours and ask about your needs and service them asap. Please, be mindful of your reviews. Dr's like Dr. Tsai don't come often. He has grown into a wonderful doctor and I will never leave his practice. He always remembers conversations we have had over the years; personal and otherwise. On disability so I called ahead to inquire if they accept medicare. Arrived and filled out paperwork for 10 mins. Second to last page there is a $20 form fee, I was a little surprised. the receptionist at the front in for me that I had a $100+ dollar co-pay? Sad to say I didn't have that and she inquired what I did. "The $20 form fee". "Oh, you don't have to pay that". So do you make up prices too? An hour waste with no resolve. The staff was excellent and the doctor was fantastic. I will highly recommend this doctor to everyone, because Dr. Tsai listened to my situation then consulted me on the issue. I went to see Dr. Tsai based on the reviews on Yelp, yet I will never go there again. I am a Registered Nurse and the visit I had made me want to run out of the that door as fast I could. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Tsai is nice and I felt like he listened to my concerns, but it was very weird having him ask me things like, "Would you like some blood tests? How about __ or ___? What do you think?" (He didn't know I was a nurse at this time.. only after the end of the appointment did he find out). Shouldn't you know whether those tests were relevant or needed, so why ask me my opinion on it like you were not sure? Also, the physical exam I received was not even done the right way! How are you going to listen to breath sounds and move the stethoscope to the other side when I didn't even take a breath yet, and how are you going to assess the abdomen when you are told to "lean back" in the chair?! You are supposed to be flat on the exam table. It was very scary. The front desk was especially what made me angry. the insurance I have requires a referral/authorization for even lab work or any kind of diagnostic imaging test. So, after finding out that the front desk didn't put in the request to the insurance company the right way, I couldn't get my tests done. My insurance company called the office and told them what to do.... and they STILL didn't do it right! So, after waiting for days, I called my insurance back and what a surprise, they didn't have anything on file ..AGAIN. So, I called Dr. Tsai's office back and told them what they needed to do so I could get these tests and lab work done. The receptionist said "they never have had to do that" what my insurance company and I knew she was lying because it has ALWAYS been this way. I said I was just on the phone with my insurance and that they specifically told me Dr. Tsai's office needed to fill out a specific form to fax to them in order to get my things approved, and the receptionist said, "Ohh really? Noo, we don't do it that way. Just go to the lab work building and give them the prescription paper we gave you and go to the imaging place and do the same. They will call the insurance and it works that way." I literally argued with her saying I couldn't do that because the insurance wouldn't cover it if it wasn't approved by them first and I wasn't going to get stuck with hundreds or thousands in bills when it just needed to be $12, and I was told specifically by my insurance what she needed to do. She said, " Fine, ok I guess I will do it that way but that's not what normally happens. They must have changed something." That's a lie! Did she do it? Nope. I wasted WEEKS and finally said to hell with them. I am never coming here again and hope you don't waste your time either. read more

Has been our family doctor for a few years now. My biggest compliment to Dr Tsai is he listens! Really listens and asks you what you think is going on, he makes patients feel hands on with their medical care and I love that. He isn't egotistical or impatient. He often runs late because he takes his time with his patients because he cares. I don't mind waiting because I know I'm waiting because he's giving his patients his attention. Dr. Tsai has been my PCP for going on 7 years now I believe. For multiple complicated medical issues Dr.Tsai has been very attentive to my needs and concerns. Further he takes a genuine interest in my personal life as it pertains to a lot of my medical issues. You could not ask for a better doctor and for those who have to complain or whine about a desk clerk or part of the staff, not everybody can be what you expect. Dr Tsai is professional in everything that he does, he follows through with the needs that I may have. And the head of staff I believe is Melanie is awesome. She goes out of her way and has gone out of her way so many times for me I can't even count. Dr.Tsai will often ask me if I feel I should get this type of opinion or a blood test or see a specialist because he wants what's in my best interest. I would refer anyone and everyone to Dr Tsai because he's that good of a Doctor. I think that some who have written their reviews on Yelp are ignorant in the fact that they are not aware Dr Tsai is not a surgeon he's a family practitioner. there's a big difference. and so he will search out the best method and the best routine to get you the best care. If You're Expecting him to operate on you in his office you're sadly mistaken. for a PCP you cannot ask for anything better.
