Edward Joy's showroom is a wonderous joy to step into. Compared to big box stores it's great to step into a place which is so specialized, with staff who really know their products. There is a broad range of lighting in stock, from industrial to ornamental (the stained glass!), elaborate chandleries to hardworking outdoor lights. Fans, table lights, pendant lights, bathroom options, beautiful LED tube lights, there's lights for everyone. I even spotted a small Dale Chihuly style piece. The prices at Edward Joy fall into a broad range and there's something for every budget in there. Any time I've had a question the staff have been able to answer it with ease. One of the staff offered very pragmatic suggestions on bathroom lighting when I had previously been overwhelmed in a sea of choice online. For electrical stock there is a room towards the back. They have specialty light switches, a gajillion bulbs, and electrical options. When looking for lighting this is great place to go. Parking- they have a large private lot for cars which is easy to access from Burnet or Erie Blvd. read more

not good service. the staff rushes the customer and rude. wont go back . the selections are lacking for outdoor lighting it looks like they are closing and don't be open on Saturday if you are going to hate it . read more

This store has a beautiful showroom and we bought our light for a bathroom remodel in November. We also bought 6 new lightbulbs that they suggested as they were on sale. In February, when the remodel was finally done, we put the light up and it looked great, however 6 of the bulbs didn't match the color of the other 2 that were already in the light. We tried to bring back and exchange 6 light bulbs. They said their system wouldn't even allow them to go back as far as November. They wouldn't do anything for us. The bulbs hadn't even been out of the boxes! Glad our issue wasn't more expensive than bulbs, but won't return because of the customer service. read more

Before going to this store, I read some reviews. Most reviews complained of poor customer service. I went anyway. so I pulled into a very spacious parking lot that was empty. I walked in and there was an employee sitting behind the counter looking at a catalog. she welcomed me. that would be last last kind tone she shared. I explained what I needed and she immediately acted like my presence was unwanted. she was nasty with her tone of voice and body language. I knew I had encountered the very employee that had been mentioned in other Yelp reviews. I advised of this discovery and she responded with "have a nice day!" so to the owner/ manager of this business, enjoy the empty parking lot, i don't foresee it filling up anytime soon. read more

Extremely poor customer service. I purchased a track system with mini pendant lights for our kitchen several years ago from E Joy. One of the pendants has failed. I brought the fixture, with glass shade in to show a sales rep. When I arrived, 2:30pm, only one lady at front counter. She was on the phone, I waited patiently for her to finish call. She did not, but asked what I needed. I showed her the pendant and stated I would either like to replace or purchase a new track system if they no longer stocked the fixture. She repeatedly asked me what the brand was. I told her I did not know, it was not marked on the light. She repeated, without the brand name she would not be able to help me without going through numerous catalogs. I told her not to bother I would like to purchase a new track system. She said she had nothing to offer me. I said you have no track systems for sale, she said that's right. That's strange, I could look down the store and see several on display. She called another sales rep, who stated she would talk to another rep, but then decided not to so, as not to disturb his lunch. I told her I could wait. She walked away with my fixture swinging and spinning it in the air, like it was a toy. She came back and said they have nothing in the store to replace what I have. I said, what about the track systems I see down the aisle. She said if I want to go look, go ahead. I reluctantly, at this point walked through the store without any assistance, but was so frustrated by their lack of enthusiasm, I just gave up, asked for my fixture back and walked out the door. Obviously a small purchase such as mine had created no interest in the sales staff. read more

Furious. My boyfriend ordered a light fixture. Next week we sat for over 3 hours going through catalogs to pick out lights. Gave the gut the list he told us would have answer on Monday. Thursday of that week found out all items but 1 were discontinued so we ordered the one. It's been over a month for the first light and still don't have. The builder wants to put the he lights in. Boyfriend called today it is supposedly shipping today. He already told him that once already. We don't think he ever ordered it! We got all the other lights through lamps plus on line and received within 4 days. We went to Edward Joy because of the name and he bought a light there 30 years ago and loved it. Need to get people who know what they are doing. Or is someone using his money to pay their bills and not ordering items! read more

One star given only because I had to give at least one. The positive thing about this place is that they have a good selection. Customer service is horrible. We ordered a light fixture for $300.00 - they did not have it in stock. They couldnt give us measurements of anything in catalog or in the store. They said we couldnt return any product we ordered from the catalog- so we took a $300 risk. The item was expected to arrive in 2 weeks. 13 days later they called to say that the item had been discontinued from the company. Why it took so long I am not sure. We still have yet to be refunded for this product. The staff is inattentive, uninformed and lazy. When purchasing a $400.00 item we couldn't get a straight answer on the weight or height of the product- he held it up and guessed. So disappointed in this company!!! read more

Lived in Syracuse until 7 years ago. A few years ago when back visiting we went to Edward Joy to purchase a chandelier. Also went to the service counter to discuss under counter lighting. Dan was very helpful giving us literature and telling us to contact him with any further questions. We've since moved again to New Jersey. Was interested again in the lighting but couldn't find any electrical/lighting company that had the product we wanted. Called Edward Joy again this time speaking with Brian. After a few conversations we purchased the under counter lighting from them. When it arrived yesterday I had questions on installation. After a few back and forth calls lighting was installed and is perfect. Highly recommend this company for the quality of product and knowledge of products. read more
