It is Saturday. Before driving from Auburn to Syracuse to visit Roma Tile I checked the website to be sure it was open. The website indicated that the store is open until 3:00 PM, but when I arrived at 1:15 PM, the store was closed. I have used Roma's Tile for my kitchen and two bathrooms. The tile and counter top marble is nice quality. With each job they made mistakes; delivered wrong marble counter top for my master bath & the backsplash for my smaller bathroom was delivered broken. As the customer I was understanding and did not complain; both issues were made right. When ordering the tile and marble for the smaller bathroom my initial customer service was very good. The sales/estimator figured my order using my contractors measurements. The contractor has been in business for years and was highly recommended. The tile for the shower walls are a standard white subway tile. The 3 star review was given because there was 2 full unopened boxes and a 3/4 full of subway tiles leftover after the job was completed. My contractor commented that it was unusual to have so much left over. It's a lot of tile. He suggested I return it for a refund minus the restocking fee. He stated it's a very popular tile that reselling it Shouldn't be an issue. When I tried to return the 2 unopened boxes of tile I was told there was a 30day return policy. I have the original receipt and signed proposal it does not state the return policy. I was never told about the return policy by the sales/estimator. Purchasing the tile was based on her estimate not mine? It was not in the 30 day period because I waited on the contractor who got stuck on another job. Tile is not perishable and Roma tile still has this tile displayed in their showroom. It's not really about the money, it's not a huge amount, it's about customer service going both ways. It's a lot of extra tiles sitting in my basement, what a waste!! read more

RUDE! Terrible experience at Roma Tile on Wolf Street in Syracuse. Drove over an hour to look at granite slabs and was treated rudely from the moment I walked in. I had called a week earlier and the woman on the phone was very pleasant, and scheduled me for a 2 hour appointment with her to go over my options. Instead, I was not even greeted upon entering and when I approached the desk was asked "Who sent you?!" and "Who are you here to see?!" No one sent me, I was simply there to see the stones and get prices, which I indicated. I gave them my name and told them I had an appointment scheduled. A grumpy older man took my paper with my counter measurements and pointed me to a wall of a couple dozen square foot pieces. When I asked him how much the different grades of granite were per square foot - he told me that they start at $55 and "go up from there" as he wandered off with his earbuds in. I made several attempts to find out prices, which he refused to give. I headed in there fully willing to drop several grand on new granite countertops and he made zero attempt to educate me on the differences between grades or consult me in any way whatsoever about my needs and space. I walked out frustrated and certain that I would definitely not be returning nor recommending Roma Tile to anyone. It was a terrible unprofessional experience! I don't know if that was one of the owners - if so, he needs to retire and get an enthusiastic, cheerful, educated salesperson to work the floor! Would give 0 stars if I could. Ordered a quartz countertop with a backsplash and was told it would take 4 weeks. I questioned that as I was told previously that it takes 3 weeks but was told they were very busy and it would take 4 weeks. They called after 4 weeks and said it was ready, when my contractor picked it up it was not ready (they had to mount the sink and drill the faucet hole still while my contractor waited.). And there was no backsplash. I called the next morning to find out how much I would be refunded and spoke to Jim. At first he said the charge is $25 a linear foot for a backsplash then said because I had the "cash and carry" discount I was not entitled to a refund, even knowing my receipt said I ordered a backsplash and didn't receive it! I informed Jim that I will get a refund as I would dispute the charge on my credit card. Horrible customer service, stay away! read more

I visited Roma Tile the other day. When I entered the business, the girl at the door looked at me and looked down without saying anything to me. Despite the cold welcoming, I walked in to look around. As I was looking at granite for my new kitchen, I heard somone say "there is a lady here". As I passed this person and the other employee, neither offered me any help or even said a mere hello. I felt so uncomfortable that I left. I had the potential to make a big purchase, however, I will be giving my business to another local company. Roma tile has terrible customer service. read more

I purchased tile from this place for my entry and pantry. I selected a tile from one of their displays. The display didn't say what kind of tile it was, so I asked an employee, and he told me it was porcelain. When checking out, I asked a different employee just to make sure if it was porcelain or ceramic. I was assured again that it was porcelain. I then had them load the tiles into the back of my car and went home. When I was carrying the boxes of tile inside, I read the boxes which said CERAMIC. I used them anyway, but I should have brought them back. Looking at my receipt, I realized that nowhere on there did it say what the tile was made out of. All I had was 2 separate employees tell me that they were porcelain and boxes that said ceramic. I don't appreciate being lied to, especially by 2 different employees, whether it be intentional or by mistake. If you decide to purchase tile here, make sure you have what the material actually is in writing before you buy it. I also bought grout here, which turned out to be very blotchy looking. On the plus side - they do have a nice selection of tile, and the prices are comparable to other stores. read more

It has been 6 years since we had the kitchen granite counter installed. I was so overwhelmed when it was installed I thought it was great. I guess I assume excellent installation for an established company but I was wrong. We have had more work done in the house since then and it was my tile installer that noticed the epoxy on a small seam was missing. Then the tile installer pointed out that the second to last piece of the backsplash was cut short so that the two pieces that come together that go around the corner don't match match. I called Roma Tile and they said they would come out. I was told by the installer since its been 6 years that I would have to pay for all repairs. When I asked about the short piece, the Roma Tile installer said it wasn't the installer that cut the piece short but that the piece has pushed into the corner of the wall and the epoxy moved and they can't fix that either. To me that means the installer cut a small piece and didn't slide it into the corner at all and now its moved more than 1/2 inch. Wondering what is the point of the epoxy where it sticks to the wall but not on the corners? It was installed with the short piece! Sounds like Roma Tile has lots of excuses for me like double talk with no logic that makes no sense at all. No. They may have good tile, but their installers and the quality of their work isn't good at all. read more
