Do not open a retirement account with Benedetti & Associates…read more Over a full decade, my Roth IRA account yielded an abysmal annual return of under 4%. For context, even the most conservative retirement portfolios averaged 6-8% annually during the same period. More aggressive Roth IRA strategies returned around 12-13%. And the U.S. stock market has averaged about 10% annually over the last 30 years--meaning this firm underperformed even the most basic, passive investment benchmarks. To make matters worse, I paid a 1% annual management fee, adding insult to injury. I essentially paid for underperformance. Even more painful: this decade of poor returns covered the prime investing years of my life--ages 25 to 35--when time and compounding matter most. They didn't just underperform; they did lasting damage to my long-term financial growth. I cannot recommend Trent Benedetti Associates to anyone looking for competent, growth-oriented investment guidance. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

In addition to an overall lack of communication throughout the tax season; we were sent SOMEONE ELSE'S tax returns! (Yes, you read that correctly.) I consider tax returns one of the most sensitive and personal financial documents. This is beyond concerning to me in a way words cannot even explain. Since we received our "completed forms" after Tax Day, there was NO opportunity to review them before they were due. What about our deductions? California state tax law allows 2% miscellaneous itemized deductions in 2018. Benedetti & Associates didn't ask anything about my expenses. The offices of Benedetti & Associates took no time, nor concern, to communicate throughout the process; no time, nor concern, to ask any questions that might help our returns; no time, nor concern to get our completed taxes returned in a timely manner; and took no time, nor concern, to protect our privacy. Gene Peterson, our previous CPA, would be disappointed his clients went through such a fiasco. It is absolutely appalling anyone would be put in a situation such as this. I cannot believe my husband and I paid $295 to Benedetti & Associates to be treated this way. Total disgust.
