Making snide comments to others, joking about others while customers are waiting, she looked at me as if I was speaking a foreign language she didn't understand when I checked in and then snickered. I don't know, looking that old but acting juvenile threw me off. My stylist who is graduating in October so it's not worth mentioning her name did pretty good. I kept telling her I wanted my split ends gone (I curl my hair pretty often) and to cut as much as she needed to to clean me up as long as it was shoulder length. I had to encourage her to keep cutting length. She didn't do a great job of layering my hair so that's why I encouraged to keep cutting. I then asked her to spot treat any areas with split ends and she did so I appreciate that. It took about 2 hours.

After researching several esthetics schools in the Bay Area, Cosmotek stood out for its hybrid format, affordability, and supportive learning environment. The flexibility allowed me to complete the program while continuing to work full-time--something that would have been difficult with many other schools. I also appreciated the opportunity to work with clients in the spa rooms, which provided valuable hands-on experience and helped build confidence performing services. A special thank you to Devin, Huong, Binh, Emma, and Kosal, who were incredibly supportive throughout my time there. While these were the staff members I interacted with most, all of the instructors and staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in student success. The last four months were a blast. I learned so much, met great people, and felt well-prepared for my licensing exam. I would highly recommend Cosmotek to anyone looking for a flexible and affordable esthetics program.

I was literally stuck outside like an idiot for 30 minutes. Finally someone happened to open the door and I slipped in behind them, only to be told by the stylist that it was "too late" and they wouldn't take me. Seriously? I don't have time to drive another 30 minutes back here. I followed exactly the contact instructions in your text message, and still ended up being left outside waiting with no response. If there's another way to get in, why isn't that clearly stated in the confirmation email? DO NOT LET OTHERS pay the price for something that isn't their fault and waste this much of time. Absolutely unacceptable:(

Current student going through the program and may change rating based on ongoing experience…read more I started the program about 2-3 weeks ago, mainly because they recently began offering weekend classes, which worked well for me since I have a demanding full-time job. So far, unfortunately, my experience has not been great. I'm not sure if it's because the hybrid/online model is still new for them, but it really feels like they don't have the process fully organized yet. Most of the issues come down to lack of communication and unclear expectations for online students. Once I paid my deposit, I wasn't really guided through the next steps. I was briefly shown the portal we use for coursework (CIMA) and told to download WhatsApp because that's how we communicate with instructors. Beyond that, I pretty much had to figure things out on my own. I even had to personally ask questions in the group chat because I was confused, and it turned out several other students felt the same way. Eventually we found out there's an orientation every Monday, but nobody clearly explained that upfront. The virtual learning environment has also been frustrating. During online sessions, chats are muted and virtual students can't really ask questions because the instructors are focused on the in-person class. That honestly makes no sense to me considering online students are paying the same tuition as in-person students. It feels like the virtual students are an afterthought. Even submitting homework has been confusing. We use Dropbox, but I was basically just told to "download Dropbox" and had to dig through old chat messages to find the actual submission links and instructions. At this point, I honestly feel unclear every step of the way. I spend more time trying to figure out logistics, apps, links, and expectations than actually focusing on learning. The frustrating part is that these seem like very simple organizational issues that could easily be improved with clearer communication and better onboarding for online students. I'm still early in the program, so I hope things improve over time, and I'm open to updating my review if my experience changes.

I was super excited when I found out that they have Toni & Guy in bay area. But my excitement fizzled out after couple of visits. My hair color came out okay, not perfect as they did in other Toni & Guy salons! The whole service cost only $15, which is an incredible deal. Gia was fantastic. She was professional, courteous, and really listened to what I wanted. The salon itself is very clean and better ventilated than most places I've been to in Palo Alto and Santa Clara. One small note: the listing says walk-ins are welcome, but when I arrived they asked me to make an appointment (you can book through Yelp or by calling). I'll definitely be back for more services--nails, color, facial, and more. If you're looking for quality work at a great price, give this place (and Gia) a try!
