Passed my esthetician exam on my first try! Thank you to KZ and Ms. Wong :)

This review is long overdue since I finished beauty school here last year and passed my esthetician exam on my first take. I love the environment here at KZ Academy, it felt like family and everyone was super welcoming. The esthetician teacher, Ms. Wong, is so sweet and patient with all of her students. The owner, Makara, is very friendly and makes sure to answer any questions you may have. Ms. Jen, who is usually at the front desk, is amazing as well. I learned a lot at KZ and never dreaded going to class because I had so much fun whenever I was there. What makes KZ stand out is their flexibility with students. When I started school here, I was a full time student at SJSU so it was important to me that I went to a beauty school that was flexible with attending classes. They are open on the weekends as well which is a HUGE plus for me since that was mostly when I had free time. They were incredibly understanding as well when I had to take a couple of breaks due to school. I was able to finish within a year and passed my esthetician exam on my first try. Thank you to Ms. Wong for your preparation and guidance! I've recommended so many of my friends looking to get into the beauty industry to this school. In the future I may possibly consider getting a cosmo license and will definitely be coming here again. Thank you to the whole staff at KZ for being so amazing!

Just got my lashes done by Haley at KZ Academy! She was super attentive when asking how I wanted my lashes length, size, volume, doll or cat eye style, etc. This was so helpful as this was the first time I went to her and she consulted me before hand by showing me photos of her work, the actual lashes with sizing, and was patient answering all my questions. Many technicians I have seen in the past rush through their work, but Haley took the full 90 minutes to make sure my lashes were flawless and I was completely satisfied - excellent customer service. Haley always works with me to fit my schedule, even calling and texting me with cancellations right away. I appreciated KZ Academy's owner, Makara, instantly greeting me with a warm smile when I walked in and giving me a tour of her school of cosmetology and barbering. I could tell she was really passionate and loves her work in advancing young men and women into a professional career. The salon itself is beautiful of course, with complimentary hugs and a quick photo shoot of the finishing product. I would highly recommend going to see Haley for gorgeous lashes that last and the KZ Academy for impeccable service! Thank you, Makara, Haley & KZ team!

This is a really flexible school and good for people who want to pursue beauty but have busy schedules. I was in the esthetician program which is 600 hours to complete. Youre able to come on your own time although lecture is 10-12 So you dont want to miss that. Our teacher mrs. Wong is caring, enthusiastic and always looks to help us when we need it. You are able to take models to learn how to use a facial machine etc.

I highly HIIIIGHLY recommend BATA to anyone interested in and serious about EMS. Took an 8-week…read morecourse, and it was a blast. Scottie Johnson is a fantastic instructor. I cannot stress how chill and nice he was. The course was taking a toll on my physical and mental health, but Scottie's cheerful optimism kept me going. He truly embodies positive energy and makes lectures so much more bearable. His storytelling and advice were very eye-opening as well. I regret not approaching him for help more often. However, unsurprisingly, it's very rigorous. For anyone looking at an 8-week course, you will spend 20 hours a week: 10 hours on lectures (MW or TTh; 5 hours each) and 10 on skills (Sunday); of course, with breaks in between. Lectures will cover 6 chapters per week, and you will take lecture exams every weekend on the day of your skills instruction. You should be able to dedicate a huge amount of time to reading through the course material (at least 20 hours imo). So please reconsider your decision if you're planning to work or study full-time during the course. Otherwise, give it a shot! Be cool and professional, and most important of all, make sure you have a great time. I promise you, it'll be worth it.

I just completed the 7.5-week expedited course, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. First and foremost, know this: it's a fast-paced, demanding course, and success requires putting in the work. But if you're serious about learning, BATA provides everything you need to excel--exceptional instructors, hands-on training, and a structured approach that sets you up for real-world success. Scottie, the lead instructor, is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's knowledgeable, engaging, and has a great balance of keeping the class fun while knowing when to get serious. He truly cares about his students and their success. BATA also brings in a fantastic team of instructors--shoutout to Kyle, Justin, Nadeline, Eric, and Tony--each of whom adds their own expertise and teaching style. With so many instructors, the course feels personal rather than overwhelming, ensuring plenty of one-on-one guidance and hands-on practice. From day one, you can tell that BATA is well-organized and genuinely committed to training top-tier EMTs. They focus on real-world scenarios and practical skills, not just textbook knowledge, which makes a huge difference when preparing for the field. For anyone considering their EMT certification--whether your goal is becoming a first responder or using it as a stepping stone for another route like medical school--you will be in great hands at BATA.

The class helped me prepare for Product Marketing in the future as I am transitioning. Kareen was very thoughtful and helped answer all of my questions during the five day course along with providing feedback. Thank you Kareen and Product School for guiding me every step of the way. Product School offers several course offerings for Product Managers at various stages in their…read morecareer. I took the first of these, which I believe is the Product Manager Certificate, in July/August of 2020. The COVID-19 situation meant our class met virtually, I try to take that into account into my review. I feel like I need to separate my review into two parts, the instructor and the curriculum. First our instructor, Adithi: 5 stars, only because that's the maximum number of stars I'm allowed to give. From the beginning she has been incredibly generous with her time, knowledge, and resources. She's passionate about product management and eager to share that passion with her students. She also brought in guest speakers with extensive experience in the field, which added a lot to the conversations. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Second, the Product School curriculum: 3 stars. It ticked all the boxes for what I would expect from an introduction to product management--personas, product discovery, minimum viable products, roadmaps, etc. But it didn't seem to offer any value differentiation above reading various Product Management books, which I've done. Furthermore, the curriculum railroaded us into several pre-defined class projects. These were confusing and placed arbitrary constraints on our project development. And while I enjoyed working on this final project as a team, I also would have liked to build my own project from start to finish, for a real company of my own choosing. I believe Product School has recently overhauled its curriculum, and frankly I feel a little cheated because our group was one of the first cohorts to use this curriculum, which I don't feel is ready for prime time. I'm sure Product School will use this feedback to improve, but sadly I won't benefit from these improvements. Still, the chance to learn from Adithi and work with some amazing teammates still made the overall process worthwhile.
