She did the minimum, I asked for all over color and highlights, received non noticeable highlights, and she said she does the coloring at the same time, so I won't be there all day. Did not get all over color but was charged. Also wanted a cut and style, she barley cut at all, I would say don't waste your money on this over priced salon that clearly did the minimum for the max. They are a scam in my opinion. Only concerned with up charging, I was charges 60 dollars more than quoted. And I look the same as I did when I arrived pretty much, should have gone to great clips. This salon is overrated to be sure!

NY fashion week hair styles have nothing on Borealis! Coming for a trim here is a HAIRAPY session…read morethat will leave you so satisfied you'll keep coming back for more. Many salons these days are all smoke a mirrors. They distract you with shiny things in hopes that you don't notice the mediocre hair style they managed to affix atop your head. Well, Borealis breaks that trend wide open. The stylists at Borealis are extremely professional and enjoy listening to some great music while you get your trim on. My personal experience has been with stylist Noel Lance. I cannot tell you how GREAT he is with color (both men's and women's)!! I've seen him take yesterday's wannabe and turn it into tomorrow's fad. If you decide to hang out with the guys and girls at Borealis, you will notice that the salon has some limited parking. Don't even try to park in the back (you will need a can opener to get out). Parking on the street can be very limited, so I'd suggest parking in the neighboring lot used by many businesses adjacent to the salon. The salon itself is an old house that is an interesting shade of seafoam green. The temperature in the back rooms can get a little warm in the summer, so please dress accordingly. Each stylist accepts credit cards and offer their own hand selected hair care product lines. You will easily make a friend or two with each visit. Everyone is very friendly and eager to satisfy. Again, if you're looking for a great color or cut, ask for Noel Lance! Tell him his Yelpers love his work!!! +1 (704) 287-8434 is his appointment line. PS they love to text if you are a busy person!!

I came in for a simple manicure with gel polish. My nails were naked and very long. I was giving…read morethem a "break" so they can get strong again so i was excited to finally get them done. Jenny took care of me. She was really nice, although she didn't understand me that much- which is fine. When i initially sat down she was on FaceTime and she moved her phone like 6 times (into different positions around the table) so whoever she was talking too could see her i guess? At first i thought she was trying to record content which is ok with me but then she was showing the screen to her coworkers, im assuming so they can say hi. I couldn't understand the language. So while she was cutting and drilling my nails, she was watching her phone and ended up breaking the edge of my thumb nail after she cut them down. She didn't apologize or say anything she just put nail glue over it and continued. At this point I'm irritated because i see she's not removing my dead skin/cuticles and i tried communicating that but there was lack of understanding. I could've been more aggressive and gotten other people involved but i didn't. At this point i wanted to just finish up and leave. When she started painting i immediately regretted walking in. The paint job was pad. Lumpy, not on the edges of my nail. The simple nail art she agreed to know how to do, she did not. She had to wipe and redo several times. I stayed quiet and let her finish so i could just lay and leave. Overall the nails were $55 and i life $5 tip. I will never return here. I don't want Jenny to get in trouble, but if someone had reviewed this place, it would've helped me choose to not go. So I'm hoping to help someone else out. Avoid spending your time and money here. Please see pictures for reference. Also- the salon is very modern and big. Very pretty but not good at doing nails from my experience unfortunately. - i even offered to wait for someone that was really good- which i did wait 20 minutes.

The hairstyle in my profile picture is actually her masterpiece. I wish I could afford to see Kathy more often, but I'm only a part time employee while I'm in college. That being said, she sees me when my hair is down to my lower back and starts misbehaving. I finally get to my wits end with the tangles and text her to get it cut. She knows my usual, and has come to expect it. I get a wash, condition, cut, and dry. I once asked her to cut it shorter than usual and she told me that she would cut it longer than that because she was sure I'd regret it. If I decided I did want it shorter after all, she'd fix it. She ended up being completely right. I loved the length she cut it to. Before I got my car, she actually drove me home from a hair appointment at one point. When I asked about getting my hair dyed, she asked if I was sensitive to the heavy metals in box dye, and informed me that doing it myself with a box would be cheaper. She actually looks out for the best interest of her clients. I have thick hair, in that I have a lot of it. The texture of my hair is actually very fine. Kathy has the same type of hair, so she knows what to do with it. At this point, even my sister has started going to see Kathy. If you're looking for a talented hair stylist that listens to your wants and needs, seriously think about seeing Kathy. Oh, and before I forget. The styling of my hair in my profile picture? I didn't ask for that or pay for that. My hair appointments just don't really take that long, so Kathy styles my hair free of charge when she's done.
