I love AMC Marina Pacifica. It's one of my favorites in my city. I highly prefer this theatre over…read moreCinemark pike or Regal. Parking is great, you have choices from the front or back. There are two sides to the theater, with a selection of screens to your left or right of the box. There's always an employee available at the doors to help guide where you're going. They have a full bar on both sides. They have concession stands on each side. Flatbread, pretzels and popcorn are great. AMC offers a rewards program, paid and unpaid. Either way, you get points and free food and discount on tickets at times. Seats are nice, reclined and theaters are usually clean. They smell good. Bathrooms are busy but are pretty clean for the amount of traffic.

Each side was clearly labeled, so I could easily figure out where my theater was located. There was a friendly employee standing at each doorway too, to assist and scan as necessary. The lobby was small but still had a decent sized concession area. The popcorn smelled fresh and had I not just eaten, I probably would have gotten some! I made my way to my theater and found the seats to be fairly comfortable. I love how they recline! The theater was also very clean, so the staff does a great job with this! No stickiness or leftover food was found on my seat! The theater had both good picture and sound quality. I didn't see anything premium that needed enhancements, though. Parking was easy when I got there in their giant and free lot, located in the mall. When I left in the evening, the lot had filled up, but there were still some spots available. The view of the marina just steps away is gorgeous and there are also some restaurants and shops and even a gym here to enjoy before or after a film! I love the convenience of this AMC and would return again the next time I'm in the area!

Friday the 13th found us sitting on graves while watching Rocky Horror on a large inflated screen while the Long Beach Art Theatre cast performed along with movie. Yes, there was literally dancing on graves going on here. The gravestones were interesting to read while we waited for the performance to start. Most of them were from a hundred years ago! The doors opened at 6:30 and the performance and movie started at 9, giving the audience time to enjoy a picnic or visit the food trucks parked in the graveyard. (Now that's a phrase I never thought I would write.) Four food trucks were there next to the port-a-potties. I didn't see anything saying that you could or couldn't bring alcohol, but a lot of people had alcohol out in the open, so I guess it's okay. Our neighbors even popped a bottle of champagne. Some tips for movie night: Come early if you want good parking. Late comers have to park across the street. Drive a small car if you can. The graveyard driveway is pretty narrow. It got pretty chilly in the later hours, so I suggest bringing jackets/blankets. Bring a low back chair,as taller chairs need to go to the back or side. Future films include: June 27: Pink Floyd The Wall July 11: Pulp Fiction July 25: Psycho August 8: Fight Club August 22: Donnie Darko September 5: The Shining Thanks to Yelp OC for the tickets!

Starlight Cinemas is THE ONLY PLACE for me to catch a movie without spending a small fortune…read moreespecially on their bargain days! Parking: Since the theater is located at Lakewood Center, there is plenty of free parking nearby. The lot can get busy during big movie premieres and in the evening or on weekends, but I've never had too much trouble finding a spot within a reasonable walking distance. Food: The concession stand has all the movie essentials fresh popcorn, candy, nachos, hot dogs, and drinks. The prices are pretty reasonable for a movie theater. You can't go wrong with buttery popcorn and an Icee! Ambience: The theater has a relaxed, nostalgic neighborhood movie theater feel. The auditoriums are spacious, the reserved seating makes everything easier, and it's usually clean and comfortable. It may not have all the bells and whistles of some luxury theaters, but it delivers where it counts: a comfortable seat, a big screen, and an enjoyable movie experience. Theater 1 is EPEX with reclined seats however they have updated some of their other rooms with new leather seats. Pricing: This is where Starlight truly shines! They offer $5 in-person movie tickets all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus Sundays before 6 p.m. That is an incredible deal, especially when regular movie tickets at other theaters can easily cost twice as much. Purchasing online includes an additional service fee, so buying your ticket at the theater is the best value. Overall, Starlight Cinemas is a great option for an affordable family outing, date night, or solo movie day. Good parking, classic movie snacks, a comfortable atmosphere, and unbeatable bargain days make this theater worth visiting again and again.

Extremely disappointing experience at Starlight Lakewood Center, particularly because of how the…read moresituation was handled by House Manager Jaelyn. My friend and I had tickets for the 9:20 PM showing of Ice Cream Man. Our tickets directed us to Theatre 11. When we arrived around 9:30 PM, there was no movie playing. We found an employee who helped us and determined that our movie was actually playing in Theatre 7, so we missed part of the movie because we had been directed to the wrong auditorium. I want to be clear that this employee was helpful and was not the problem. He told us to go to Guest Services after the movie so the theater could address the mistake and provide a refund or replacement tickets. We did exactly that. At approximately 10:45 PM, we went to Guest Services. A female Starlight employee was standing behind the Guest Services counter using her phone. My friend politely asked if she could help us. She rudely said no. We then asked if she could at least let someone know that customers were waiting for assistance, and she again rudely refused. We later learned from House Manager Jaelyn that this employee was apparently off the clock. We had absolutely no way of knowing that. She was a Starlight employee standing behind the Guest Services counter. Had she simply said, "I'm off the clock, but I can get someone to help you," there likely would have been no issue at all. What turned a frustrating but easily fixable situation into the reason we will not return was Jaelyn's response as the manager on duty. Rather than first asking what had happened, hearing both sides, or attempting to resolve the original problem, Jaelyn escalated the situation and repeatedly focused on having me escorted from the theater. We tried to explain that we were only at Guest Services because Starlight had sent us to the wrong auditorium and their own employee had specifically instructed us to return after the movie for assistance. When I asked Jaelyn whether the incident and our complaint would be documented, I could not get a meaningful answer. I eventually asked for the contact information of a manager above her. She provided a handwritten name and email address for Tricia M. To make matters worse, when I attempted to send my formal complaint to the email address we were provided, the email was returned as undeliverable because the address provided to us was invalid. Mistakes happen. Being sent to the wrong auditorium could have been resolved with an apology and basic customer service. Even the interaction with the employee behind the counter could have been de-escalated quickly. Instead, the house manager escalated the situation rather than resolving it. I have since submitted a formal complaint through Starlight Cinemas' corporate channels and requested management review the incident. We will not be returning to this location. The original theater mistake was frustrating, but the way House Manager Jaelyn handled the situation is ultimately why Starlight Lakewood lost us as customers.
