    Rocky Horror Picture Show

Went to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show and the venue was nice! Not super small or super big, love how historical and old it is. Staff members were very nice and helpful! $6 beers, and other snacks! Bathrooms were clean as well. There was an incident of someone getting sick in the bathroom and the staff handled it well. We would definitely come again to watch other shows!! The area it's in is so walkable too, and there's parking available on the street or in the lot across the street!

For the customer service alone, I give this place 5 stars. The staff is so friendly and helpful. My husband and I walked in late one Friday night out of curiosity to see what this theater is all about. We were given a movie schedule, and they also told us about the food and beverage options. I'd definitely come back just because I felt so welcomed. The theater is vintage with some modern touches. It's beautiful.

Nearly 100 years of cinema, community, and entertainment... The Art Theatre of Long Beach has been showing flicks since 1925. Restored, remodeled, and remastered much like the films, shorts, and specials this longstanding Los Angeles County theatre displays in a single room. I'd heard of the Art Theatre but was never lucky enough to attend, but someone awesome asked me out for a movie with lunch to follow, and I was glad he did. Taking in the layout and specials and soaking up the energy of a 97-year-old space was pretty cool. Matinee seating is only $12 (shows before 5PM) with general only $1.50 more and discounts for students w/ ID and seniors. The concessions included an assortment of moviegoer/lover favorites, including vegan-friendly popcorn, snacks, and wine... Think I might need to move close to Long Beach and enjoy this place often!! The prices are more than fair, especially compared to big chain theaters such as AMC, Cinemark, and Regal to name a few. You can seat wherever you can find a seat and you don't have to rush to be there right before the picture starts as they do give it a nice beat beforehand as well as show a nice short or clips before your feature presentation. I'm really glad I got to enjoy the Oscar winner The Third Man (1949) starring Orson Welles and Joseph Cotten. Huge film noir fan, so it was great to go and see this classic in black & white. Great for Sunday, Saturday, or really any day of the week, though Fridays seem to have the most showings. On holiday weekends like Mother's Day in May, they have a Mamma Mia Mimosa special and showing that I'm sure is to be lively if interested. All are welcome at the Art Theatre (rainbow flags flying high)... even if parking gets a bit thin (some paid parking lots close by), you won't be disappointed with the A.T. in L.B. experience. Pop in to this Indie movie theater asap!!

Cute indie theater with friendly staff! It's right on Retro Row- so perfect for drink/bite before or afterwards. The theater also has some food and drink options.

The theater may be old, but the seats are modern and very comfortable. The sound system is also top-notch. The only downside is that the theater does not have its own parking lot. Street parking can be tricky, even on a weekday. My whole family watched "The Isle of Dogs" here, which happens to be a wonderful film. My ten-year-old son declared it to be his favorite movie. It's too bad that this theater doesn't attract a bigger audience.

    Is there any parking?

There is a pay for parking parking lot across the street. There is metered parking on the street. But if you drive a block or two into off fourth street there is free street parking.

In addition to the reclining seats is now a little attached table for your snacks. I've previously come here for screenings of upcoming movies and I'm curious to know if they've kept some rooms with the old school seats to accommodate the number of people for said screenings. Since I was watching Wicked 2, I loved the little touch of the ticket taker bestowing me with a wand. At the time I went, I was told they still had some work to do with updates on the theater. I did not buy concessions this time around but do remember to give your phone number if you're an RCC member. What might give this establishment 5 stars is if they kept their restrooms cleaned. Granted, I do come here mainly in the evenings but there is always toilet paper on the ground in the stalls.

The concessions aren't ridiculously overpriced, theatres are clean but not spotless, they have some stadium seating theatres, they have FREE flavored popcorn seasoning, and they invest in Americas future by hiring high schoolers during a time when those types of jobs are being replaced by tech. To enter, visitors proceed to the Bixby Hill residential security gate at the intersection of East Anaheim Road and Palo Verde Avenue. Entrance is strictly at 1pm, as the guard will not allow entrance prior to that. Operating hours are 1pm - 5pm Wed - Sun. Initial visit, the barn area w/ the livestock was closed off due to a water main break. Tours of the Adobe Ranch is via a docent-led tour, which can be made at the Rancho Center. No photography is permitted. Tom was the docent, and he was quite knowledgeable of the history of Rancho Los Alamitos, allowing passage into each room on the first floor. Second floor was closed to visitors. My favorite room was the kitchen, as I marveled at the various appliances, such as the still operational refrigerator, with the condenser on top, instead of bottom. Also, the heavy, built to last stove, which probably served a countless number of meals for the family & staff working the ranch. There were a few objects which were available to touch, such as an early proto version of a View-Master. The cherry on top of the Adobe Ranch visit was pulling the rope attached to the dinner bell, signifying everyone to "come & get it!". The handsome, well-maintained garden landscape surrounding the property provides natural beauty & plenty of photo opportunities. Second visit was more fun, as the barn & livestock areas were open to the public, again! Preston, a magnificent Shire horse, towers over almost all visitors, and stuns with his majestic beauty. In the world record books, a Shire horse named Sampson is the largest recorded horse ever, at 7' 2.5" tall & 3,360 lbs. Not to be outdone, Fred the donkey bombastically greets people with his hee-haws. A few rescue horses, sheep & a coop full of chickens provided plenty of enjoyment. A pleasurable afternoon can be had at Rancho Los Alamitos. Visitors gaze back in time upon a working ranch, experience how things were built to stand the test of time, opposed to planned obsolescence of most machinery & appliances, today. Visiting Preston, Fred & the other animals, alone, is worth the drive. I look forward to coming back & I highly recommend giving Rancho Los Alamitos a visit.

Friday the 13th found us sitting on graves while watching Rocky Horror on a large inflated screen while the Long Beach Art Theatre cast performed along with movie. Yes, there was literally dancing on graves going on here. The gravestones were interesting to read while we waited for the performance to start. Most of them were from a hundred years ago! The doors opened at 6:30 and the performance and movie started at 9, giving the audience time to enjoy a picnic or visit the food trucks parked in the graveyard. (Now that's a phrase I never thought I would write.) Four food trucks were there next to the port-a-potties. I didn't see anything saying that you could or couldn't bring alcohol, but a lot of people had alcohol out in the open, so I guess it's okay. Our neighbors even popped a bottle of champagne. Some tips for movie night: Come early if you want good parking. Late comers have to park across the street. Drive a small car if you can. The graveyard driveway is pretty narrow. It got pretty chilly in the later hours, so I suggest bringing jackets/blankets. Bring a low back chair,as taller chairs need to go to the back or side.
