The taxi arrived 50 minutes late so I missed the event. When I complained, I was advised that when you make an advance booking, central taxis guarantee a taxi but not what time it will arrive!! (kinda defeats the point of booking a taxi in advance!) Not the service you would expect of a company that calls itself 'Edinburgh's most reliable taxi company'!

We downloaded the app this time and booked all 4 via the app, two ahead of time, two for instant pick-up. The app was easy to use and the taxis arrived nicely on time.

We had always wanted to ride in one of these iconic cabs with the distinctive look! We were picked up on time, the driver was pleasant and helpful but thankfully, not talkative at that unholy hour, and we felt safe the whole time. There wasn't much traffic at 2:30am so we got to the airport in about 25 minutes. Our fare was £23 and we paid by credit card. Since we were leaving the UK, I emptied my wallet of all my coins and gave it to the driver. It came out to be about £5. I know they don't expect a tip but I didn't want to carry home any change and he was helping me out by accepting it. A great ride experience overall that I will readily repeat next time I'm in Edinburgh.

Allin all I hated the journey and was glad it was over. This said this is the 1st tiem I have used festival cabs in a few years and they were good before with friendly drivers and efficient non - white knuckle rides. Maybe I got a bad one but incase I get him again I won't use them again.

Festival City Cars are a private hire taxi firm operating in Edinburgh. We used to have an account…read morewith them with work and they were generally quite reliable, especially when picking up from definite addresses (not so good for hospital environments where the passenger isn't sure where they're going, but I don't know any taxi company that is!). As they are private hire vehicles they are not allowed to pick up fares on the street, and consequently they are more likely to be available at busy times such as Friday or Saturday nights. However, as they are not black cabs it can be quite difficult at times to spot when they have arrived!! The staff are generally pleasant and helpful although not exclusively. Overall, a good choice after a night out, although bear in mind that they do need a more definite pick up address than somewhere on the Royal Mile!
