No continental breakfast. No microwave in room. We had small children and a dog. They put us on the top floor which is a terrible idea for noise. Of course got a noise complaint and instead of the kids enjoying the hotel stay we felt like we had to constantly tell them to have quiet feet and quiet voices. Also you are not able to leave your dog in the room at all. So we couldn't all use the pool as a family. It was a huge bummer. read more

I have to say this place was better than I had expected. They recently did a makeover in 2022. The lobby is inviting and the rooms and property were clean and welcoming. We enjoyed the 24/7 coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Each room has a small refrigerator and single cup Cuisinart coffee maker in the room. There is a communal microwave in the lobby to heat up food as well as a small pay snack counter for quick bites. They have an indoor pool (which was a little too cool for me, but I do believe it is heated). A small gym with bathrooms and filtered water machine. (Sadly the hot tub is covered up and not available) There are no elevators in this two story property. But it looks like every room has a balcony on the second floor and patio on the first floor on the water view side. They also have a "motel"style wing which the doors are entered through the parking lot. These rooms, I was told were "Pet friendly" rooms and have no carpet on the floors. We were in room 126 on the ground floor. The room was comfortable. Large flat screen TV, comfy sitting chair with a small desk top tray, mini fridge and dresser. Bathroom was stocked with pump shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Also where the vanity was, there was a small open style closet and shelving which was great! Additionally there was an ironing board and iron and a hair dryer. The lighting situation is terrible. It would be nice if they had a switch to the lights in the room and not have to rely on finding where the switch is on the lamps. And the mattresses were not the best. I was told they were all new mattresses when they did the remodel. Not sure if it was just our room or if all the mattresses in the hotel were like this, but it really was the only big issue I had. I didn't have terrible sleeps but they are worth noting because they are not supportive mattresses at all! I made my reservations with an off site reservastionist and the guy really messed up a lot of information on my reservation. The big one being that there was an elevator. The GM, Amber, was amazing and honored the reservation price and was able to get me a room downstairs and had been a pleasant sight every day since we had arrived. Outside we enjoyed the 2 chairs and small table on our small patio that overlooked the water. Overall I'd give this place a 4.5 star rating. Beds really being my only complaint. The staff became family and were all so friendly! We will be back! We were in town for one night visiting family. I searched online for a decent place to stay for one night. There were many older, run down looking establishments available, but we wanted something newer and cleaner looking. We prefer wood floors over carpet and this place had a little of both, plus a water view. We also liked that it was recently remodeled. I booked online through their Choice Hoels affiliate. I used our AAA card membership to get a discounted rate. The only time I actually called them was to let them know we were checking in late. The man who answered the phone was friendly and helpful. He put a note on our reservation and let me know they have a front desk person on site 24/7, so late check-in would not be a problem. When we arrived, check-in was smooth. We received a parking pass for our vehicle and room keys that worked on the first try. Our room was on the 2nd floor at the end of the building which I prefer so we have fewer neighbors. I had read in previous reviews how thin the walls are, and they definitely are! We heard our only neighbor coughing until about 10pm. Not too late, and we didn't hear it again until about 5am, but when we did hear it, it was like they were in our room with us. Very thin walls. Our room was very clean and had nice linens. They offered many amenities in the room, including a Cuisinart coffee maker, mini fridge, huge TV, desk, luggage rack, armchair, A/C, soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, iron and ironing board, wooden hangers, ice bucket, and more. It worked great for our needs. The only thing I wish was better was the water pressure. A rain shower head is nice for some, but I prefer more pressure than that. I like to make sure I get all the shampoo out of my hair! Overall we had a nice stay and we would definitely consider staying here again in the future. Would recommend. read more

Beware...if you buy online, you'll likely be disappointed.  The general hotel pics show water views but the rooms and descriptions don't say which rooms face the water.  I took a chance and I'm now sitting in a room facing the parking lot.  At check-in, I offered to pay more to upgrade to a water view but since I bought it online, they refused to make a change even though they had water-view rooms available and I offered to pay more.  Their response: "Call us directly next time."   Lesson learned...there won't be a next time. Despite all the negative reviews here - our experience with Edgewater Inn was a positive one. The room was clean, staff was able to recommend a great place to eat and the shower was steaming hot. Yes, no elevators, the view of the slough and lack of breakfast was a gripe, but at the price point of $124 a night, we actually got our money's worth. The WiFi is solid and we even slept well. I wasn't originally going to write a review for this stay, but this is a need. I am a frequent to The Edgewater Inn, since I am a ATV/UTV rider at Hauser Dunes, and the Inn has sufficient parking for my family's rigs. I recently learned that the Inn got renovated under new management/ownership and at first, I was excited! The Edgewater always had an outdated atmosphere, but this at least reflected the price per night's stay. After renovation, the nightly rates' doubled. I figured this was reasonable considering the renovations that were done. The rooms are cleaner, the lobby is more welcoming, etc. However, despite how clean everything felt, there were a lot of things MISSING. So...tell me how the hotel undergoes an entire renovation, takes away so many features that made the stay GOOD...then DOUBLES THE PRICE of what it used to be?!! The biggest thing for me and my family was the MISSING MICROWAVE. Every time we've stayed at the Edgewater Inn, we've had an in-room microwave. Every room had an in-room microwave. Upon arriving, we noticed that this particular amenity was gone. Apparently the only available microwave is the microwave in the lobby. The SINGLE microwave in the lobby. On a busy Saturday evening after a long day and many people have things to microwave...you can see how this may be an issue. Another big change is there's no more BREAKFAST. They used to provide things like danishes, coffee, juices, etc. A simple yet effective breakfast spread, and cheap too...yet that is no longer a feature here. Not to mention some of the...architectural choices for the renovations were not fantastic. For example, the singular sink is SO MASSIVE that there is zero counter space for your toiletries. There is no towel hook. No place to put your clean clothes for after a shower unless you want to place them on the toilet (or the floor if you gotta use the toilet!). The shower head, while modern and bigger, lacks the water pressure it once had and you cannot adjust the angle for taller folks such as myself. WE WOULD HAVE MUCH PREFERRED THE OLD ROOMS if it meant having these features back. The old outdated rooms were WAAAAY BETTER!!! At least one thing stayed consistent...the staff is still SUPER RUDE AND DISMISSIVE!! This was a thing with the last management too, but it wasn't that much of a problem. When my father called the lobby with questions, they didn't answer at first. The second time he called, they picked up, and hung up the phone on him. Please bring back the old Edgewater inn. This rating will probably improve post-remodel, but this is the current state of the property. They do not have card readers on the exterior doors leading to the interior corridor, so if you're there before 8 or after 7, you have to go through the lobby, since the doors don't get unlocked unless someone props them open. Even during the day, I had to go to the lobby since the doors weren't unlocked, and the front desk didn't know how to unlock them. Hot water in the northern part of the hotel is virtually non-existent. A couple of cold to lukewarm showers, unless you let the water run 15-20 mins beforehand. Guessing they're messing with the booster pumps and plumbing in the building. Internet at the north end is non-existent. Also, even though we booked a double queen accessible room, none exist at this time, due to the remodel. Apparently, the hotel knows that corporate keeps making these reservations on the website, but they have no way of honoring them. General manager is really helpful, the rest of the front desk staff range from mostly competent to not competent at all. The one person didn't know about the water issues or how to unlock the door. There's also tons of construction debris in the parking lot and the corridor, guessing Choice isn't inspecting as they should. Probably best to skip the Edgewater until they get the remodel done. read more

This is the worst Choice Hotel I've been too and I've been to a lot of them! The front desk employee was not friendly at check in. After we checked in and got unpacked and settled, the fire alarm went off just as I got out of the shower so I hurried to get dressed, then it stopped. Then when I looked at the toilet, it had almost no water so I flushed it to see if it worked and a lot water came out from the base onto the floor so we had to pack up and move rooms. The front desk person did not apologize. He just told me to bring back the keys to the old room after we moved and told me I had to have my credit card run again for the second room. read more

The three stars is for the staff. The front desk agent was really nice super helpful. Everything that you would hope for in that first person that you meet when you walk into a motel. He is usually the night auditor and was out of his element, but he treated us so nice. That's why I gave this place the three stars that I did. He deserves five stars. I hate to rip this place cause it's really not bad but it could be so much better. They just did a remodel and it was really poorly done. I took some pictures. The bathroom sink is just so stupidly done. It's 24 inches or 2 feet wide in a space that's just not big enough for it. That leaves no place to put the stuff you need to brush your teeth and all the other crap you need to do and I'm a man I can't imagine being a girl and trying to do all the weird stuff they have to do here. It's terrible. Why in the world would someone put such a wide sink in a tiny little space? Just ego I guess. It makes no sense at all. I mean at least in a motel six or a super eight they have that stuff figured out. At least the bed in this place is pretty good. Or it was before someone allowed their root of eight or 10 children to jump on it for eight or 10 weeks as a trampoline over the summer. I think it really was a good bet at one time. If you think I'm exaggerating, see the picture. Another issue I've got is that it's two stories and no elevator. There's no accommodation for any handicap. Overall, it's a pretty nice room . I've stayed here a few times with my son. We love it here! The rooms are always clean and the staff is always so friendly and inviting. The only inconvenience we had was, there's no microwave...we bought a lot of snacks that didn't require cooking. And just so you know, not all rooms have a view of the bay ...we had a view of the dumpsters in the parking lot. But there's a pool and a workout room. Dear Mr. Virk, I am writing to formally express my profound dissatisfaction and concern regarding my recent experience at the Edgewater Inn and Suites, an establishment under your direct ownership within the Ascend Hotel Collection franchise of Choice Hotels International. My experience on December 4,2024 was not merely unsatisfactory but bordered on dangerously unprofessional and outright hostile. Upon arrival, I presented my reservation along with my identification and American Express credit card as required. However, the staff member who handled my check-in process displayed an unwarranted level of agitation and anger. Shortly after settling into my room and taking a necessary work call, I was disturbingly summoned back to the front desk by the same individual, who as I arrived stepped out the front door and I was now being aggressively spoken to by another lady and then screamed at irrationally. The staffs behavior was not only extremely unprofessional but also alarming, as they accused me of trespassing despite my valid reservation and compliance with check-in procedures. Their demand for me to sign a previously unmentioned registration card, coupled with threats of police involvement, was beyond confusing and unhinged. I was then instructed to vacate the premises immediately, leaving my personal belongings unsecured in the room, which included sensitive items like my purse, computer and iPad. This instruction was delivered in an environment of chaos, hostility, and apparent drug-induced behavior from the staff, which I was later informed by several towns-people related to known methamphetamine use at your hotel. The fear of physical assault was palpable as I retrieved my belongings in haste, feeling as if I were escaping a scene from a horror film. The psychological impact of this incident has been significant, leaving me with lingering feelings of violation and fear for my personal safety. I have never encountered such a level of unprofessionalism and hostility in my extensive travels of 83 countries, and I am compelled to warn others about this establishment. The massive negligence in staff conduct, coupled with the lack of security for guests' personal items, is utterly unacceptable. I urge you to investigate these matters thoroughly and take immediate steps to address the behavior of your staff, as well as the overall management practices at this location. This experience has not only tarnished the reputation of your hotel but also put guests at risk. After leaving messages with your assistant Melissa and not hearing back from you I can only assume it all starts with you, the owner. Please consider this letter/review as formal notice that I will be sharing my experience with relevant consumer protection agencies and travel advisories. To the owner or head manager, I was in Coos Bay because my father was in the hospital and my mother came up. We had rooms. She booked a room for four nights and only needed it for two and they claim she could have no refund because it was through Expedia which it was not, and we showed the Confirmation showing that they didn't care. They told her the room was hers to Eye on the other hand only booked for two nights and needed an extra night to take care of my father in the hospital. She wanted to let me use the room that she had paid for that night when she went home and the staff refused to let her use the room for that. The staff was hostile and they were mean to my parents your booking policies and your staff are an atrocious abomination to customer service. I will never return to your hotel. read more

I cannot speak for the poor previous reviews but it should be noted that the hotel is going through a complete renovation and the new rooms and freshly renovated spaces are absolutely amazing. Very clean and modern and tastefully furnished and we were shocked to see how spacious the standard King rooms are! We've stayed at nearly every motel in Coos Bay and the Edgewater is definitely on the tops of our list with some of the most comfortable spaces available! The staff were enthusiastic, genuinely friendly, and very prompt. The only thing that might be an issue is that the walls are pretty thin, at least above us, but this might be because they were being renovated and I don't think there was carpet or padding laid down. Otherwise perfect with some lovely views and we will stay here again read more

A fair hotel for the price for our one-night stay. The check-in staff were welcoming and efficient and the room was fairly standard with a nice view over the river. I chose this motel due to the pool, hot tub and continental breakfast. The hot tub was under construction and there was no continental breakfast. We were booked into a 2nd floor room which was fine, but I quickly realized that there was no elevator and my mom who would be joining us would be unable to manage the stairs so I asked to be moved to a more accessible room. They did accommodate. In the 2nd floor room there was a dirty ball (likely from a pet) behind the door. The downstairs room was fine, but right next to the construction which was quite noisy at times. The room appeared clean, however when walking from the bathroom to the bed after a shower my feet were filthy. The floors were tile and not actually clean. The beds were hard and uncomfortable but the pillows were nice and fluffy. There was only one towel hook on the back of the bathroom door. The pool appeared clean until we got in and the tiles around the inner edges of the pool were covered in grime. So much that there were parts that orher people had scratched designs into. The hot tub was under construction. The pool also changed my hair color. I do have dyed hair, but I have swam in pools with dyed hair before and never had a problem. The morning of check out a construction worker knocked on our door at 10am then promptly just opened the door!!!! Check out was 11am. I had 2 kids in the room. Totally unacceptable. They came back 5 minutes later. Luckily my mom got to the door and told them check out was 11 and they left. It didn't seem like the front desk told the construction crew that people were in the room. That should have never happened. We rushed to pack up and were out by 10:35. We will NOT be back. Waste of money and not at all worth the $120 I paid for one night. read more

Entering our newly renovated room ( new paint and carpet and new bathroom fixtures) we noted two queen sized beds, which we discovered later were manufactured by the Flintstone's rock quarry. We marveled that the room was actually colder than the temperature outside and only realized later that large gaps in the door frames allowed so much heat to quickly flee the room that the noisy heater cycled on and off every few minutes. The rock quarry bed proved an effective torture device and quickly made no comfortable position possible. I won't go into how the wafer board walls made late night conversations in the next room audible because I wasn't sleeping anyway, and it gave me something to listen to. Avoid. read more

The motel it self wasn't that bad. But the customer service was horrible. The guy that works nights is incompetent and has no customer service skills. Having someone like that in your business can cost the business in a major way. I would get rid of that person immediately to prevent losing anymore customers. This place has rules about smoking of any kind. Yet people below our 2nd floor room are bbqing. We were trying to enjoy the beautiful area from our balcony but had to go in. Because the fumes of the bbq bricks were so bad we had to go in because our eyes were burning. We asked nicely if they could move the bbq away from the hotel but they just moved it down a little way. I complained to the hotel manager but he was very rude. He said that he couldn't do anything because they were not in their room. These people are on hotel grounds. They are very strict about smoking but not bbq fumes?? I have 4 days in this place. I only hope that this goes better. But now I give it 2 stars and that is generous. read more

update!! upon seeing that i wrote this review, the manager desiree called my room and said we could leave the property immediately with a refund. so i happily packed up and when i entered the office she flipped on me and only gave me a partial refund and that i could "eat the rest".. i left the building and called choice hotels corporate office. while i was on the phone she called the police and said we were threatening her and asked for us to be tresspassed from property due to bad reviews. she also called my boyfriend a threat since he was a man. the police said they would never recommend this hotel because of the constant calls to the department about upset customers!!! this woman would rather sit outside and smoke with the rif raf that isnt paying for a room then satisfy her customers. this woman os going to ruin this hotel choice hotels has ussued a formal complaint and investigation against this establishment.. save your time! we left and went to the casino. amazing customer service and the same price! read more

OK -- there seem to be some folks who don't like this place, and I'm not sure I understand why. It's a good quiet place with spacious rooms, the beds are quite decent, and the AC unit blows cool and quite (unlike the high-priced place in Stockton). It's not an expensive luxury hotel. If that's what you want, go to Vegas. This is a place where you come to relax, maybe hit the pool, and get a good night's sleep without fuss or churn. Strange lumps under carpet, veneer peeling off door bathroom door, sliding door difficult to open, faucets hard to turn on (pull out type). Not great for arthritis, etc. Be prepared to make an appointment to use the pool/hot tub and it's guests only. Horrible place. We arrived after our fishing trip was canceled and our room was non refundable so we decided to make a weekend of it. Checked us in and we went to our King water view room. Opened the door to dirty bedding piled in the middle of the room and pillows thrown everywhere, it was obviously never cleaned. Went to lobby and told they had no more king water view rooms so we needed to go away for an hour and they would clean it. Came back and went to the room and now the room appears to be cleaned but now it's apparent that the bed is a queen bed not a king as advertised and paid for. Also the TV doesn't work so I called the front desk and they came to fix but were unable to so they asked us if we would move to a different room. They moved us to a suite with no Waterview but supposed to have everything working. Not the TV works for a few minutes then locks up or stops working and now the next morning the same manager doesn't want to work on it with us in the room. Right NEXT DOOR to Safeway, what could be better!? OK, I'm a little nuts about Safeway, but this motel is far away from traffic, so it's v.v. quiet, it has large clean rooms (we stayed in #123, $92 on a Friday night in July) with microwave for heating Safeway soup, fridge, table and chairs, easy chair and a remodeled bathroom. And plain lace curtains under the drapes for style. Oddly, all 3 lamps had black lace shades making the room a bit dark. Or romantic, I suppose. From the lobby*, if one walks out the door east and trips, one will end up in the river for an unexpected dip. We preferred the pool and hot tub, however, and would have gone in the sauna, but it was locked (7/26/13) and requires a fee to use. There's a tiny video game room, a workout room with 4 machines and a business center with computer and empty book shelves. If one walks out the door west, one can throw open one's arms, fill one's lungs and enjoy an expansive view of a huge empty parking lot and a Safeway where one can get a Starbucks coffee and (on Fridays) a $5 hoagy the size of a standard poodle to enjoy in the room. After dinner, fast walk a couple of times around the parking lot and you'll be ready to read in the Gideon Bible that the Gideons are a group of Christians founded by 2 travelers in Wisconsin in 1898 who, finding a lack of quality reading matter in their motel, decided to remedy the situation by forming a Bible distribution organization and chose the name Gideon for their group's name from the story in the Book of Judges. *There's a beautiful modern Howard Miller adaption of the grandfather clock in the lobby near the photos of a damaged gulf oil platform signed by what may be some of the workers from that rig. read more

We stayed 8/09/20 2 beds for $145 a night on water side of hotel, much nicer than a safeway parking lot . Rooms are older, yet clean. Nice landscape on the waterside........ The older lady who checked us in was passive aggressive in a nut shell. When I asked her if I could look up my ARP discount, she said no, I needed the card. Whatever lady............. I only stayed here because they had a pool and my grandkids were in the car 2 hours and wanted a swim. Pool is appointment only , pandemic is up and running. She says we can book 6pm to 630 or wait and do 730pm to 10 when the pool closes. I reluctantly chose the later having a 4 and 7 year old who are up late enough, yet 1/2 hour is just getting wet! At 8pm she came in screaming they had to get out, others are waiting. I wasn't there but asked about it the next day and the morning lady says, she SHOULD have said, " if nobody is waiting you can stay till 10." well no sh*T she shoulda, if thats what she meant ! Kind if disgusting disappointing kids... Then the next morning, the lady was still checking the pool water ( i made another appointment at 9 am) so we eat while we wait and its pool time !!!! The dumb lady checking the pool didn't fasten the filter lid and my 4 year old stepped on it (it was on not properly screwed down) fell foot first in the drain. Thank God he wasn't hurt.
