Years ago when I was about to join Edge, I read all of the glowing reviews and thought "no way a place can be this good." Well, it is. In the years since I've joined, not only have I gotten into the best shape of my life but I've also accomplished things I never thought would be possible while finding a supportive community of like minded people. This place has changed my life in so many ways. It can feel intimidating coming to a strength class or group run but all paces and experience levels are truly welcome. As long as you show up willing to give your best you will thrive! Million stars, can't recommend highly enough. read more

I joined edge 2 years ago, I wanted to start a healthier life style which meant taking a chance on myself. the minute I walked into edge I felt so welcomed and I'm one who doesnt like to try new places because I get intimidated fast. not the case here, since joining I have made long lasting friendships and have discovered a new side I didn't know I had. Not only did I ran my first 50k but now I'm training for my first 70.3 triathlon. Everyone is so Inspiring that it's hard not wanting to try it yourself. I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for edge and I am so thankful for everyone. If you ever questioned stepping inside let me tell you this is your sign because you will not regret it. read more

I joined EDGE in Nov 2019 and I definitely don't regret it! In the past, I found it hard to find a gym I actually wanted to keep coming back to. I'm a person who loves group fitness classes but I don't have many friends here who want to work out with me, since I'm still fairly new to the city. It sounds corny, but I was able to make some friends at EDGE and that's what has kept me going! ...Also the pugs don't hurt since I'm an avid dog lover...but anyway, all the coaches are awesome and personable. They're always more than happy to help you with modifications to workouts (ex. no jumping) in case that's a barrier to entry for you. Honestly, there's a reason this place has 5 stars. It's awesome! The owners, Robyn and Brian, have been great about communicating updates throughout the pandemic and I could rant all day about all the good things about EDGE...so if you're on the fence about joining, take the plunge! read more

I absolutely adore the Edge Athlete community and the lounge itself. While I am not a member of Edge, I have participated in their Marathon training program with many of their well-trained and fabulous run coaches. Training with Edge for the marathon gave me access to multiple group runs a week, unparalleled training, and, most importantly, access to one of the most supportive athletic groups in the city of Chicago. The Edge community cares about one another and their athletes, which makes this training program particularly special. While I do not use the Lounge facilities often (this Northsider doesn't like to travel outside of her neighborhood very often...), they provide a variety of recovery tools to meet every athlete's needs. From ice baths to recovery boots, and access to an onsite chiropractor, your recovery will be absolutely on point with Edge. They also offer regular group classes in terms of strength, yoga, and endurance groups. If you are a new athlete or a well-seasoned athlete of Chicago, I highly recommend that you check out Edge! read more

I absolutely love Edge Athlete Lounge, the staff and Coach Robyn and Brian. I am not a member at all but I have been coming here during marathon training season and it is definitely worth it! I also participated in the marathon training group back in 2018 and met Coach Robyn through Nike Run Club. Whether you're an elite athlete or a newbie they will welcome you with open arms and will make sure that you are successful with your goals and your training, not only they provide recovery they also provide classes with great Coaches as well. It has been a tradition of mine to come to Edge before the Chicago Marathon for "precovery" and post race as well. It's a really great place for you to stay fit, unwind and relax and most importantly you get to play with the adorable pugs. I love Edge and the entire staff! read more

From the first time I walked in, I instantly felt at home. My level of fitness (or lack there of) was seen as a starting point for great things to come. I never felt uncomfortable or like I didn't belong. Everyone is welcoming, supportive, inclusive, respectful, encouraging, and wants to see you succeed. There's no other place like it, trust me. The variety of strength classes (including yoga) and bike studio gives everyone an opportunity to find something that works for them and challenges them. Ice baths, hot tubs, and recovery boots have become an asset to my training. They offer personal training, which I signed up for, which was critical to achieving my specific personal goals. I was paired with Coach Katie but have taken classes with every single coach and can speak from experience that they are ALL exceptional. Group training for half and full marathons are available if you are looking to meet the greatest group of people and #honorthesweatbond together. read more

On the door you'll see a sign that says "Safety is our priority." And walking in, you can see that they believe that 100%, and reflect it in every action: constant cleaning, safe social distancing, masks indoors, staff reminding members to continue safe practices. But the real story is that people are their priority, and safety is just part of what you'll experience. You'll also get limitless support from the owners, coaches and staff, access to the expertise of the best in the fitness business, fun and challenging classes, recovery services that will leave you feeling brand new, and some pretty yummy smoothies. Edge Athlete Lounge - Enjoying a relaxing session in the compression boots - Trainers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I initially found out about Edge through a running blog that raved about Robyn (the owner), and how amazing she is and how she helped the blogger achieve goals she never thought were possible. After doing a little research on Edge, I was completely sold. It was exactly what I was looking for and more! I scheduled an appointment, met some amazing staff, coaches, and members. Everyone was AMAZING and so welcoming!! 3 months later, I can say I have no regrets and my experience here exceeded my expectations. I joined their 5 Weeks To Fit challenge and lost 15 pounds, gained lean muscle, lost body fat, and most of all gained so much knowledge about nutrition and fitness that I will always be able to use. In just 3 months, my fitness level has greatly increased and I have gotten so much stronger. I never felt better in my life! I have some pretty crazy goals this year and in the future and I am soooo confident that Edge will get me there and BEYOND! I have never been part of such a fitness community that celebrates each other's victories and wins, both big and small; the small wins that ultimately lead in to greater victories. Nothing goes unnoticed with them. Even if you don't see greatness in yourself, THEY SEE IT. All of the coaches, staff, and members are so motivating and inspiring. There is literally no place like it. The icing on the cake is the sweetest most lovable pugs that welcome you as soon as you walk in (from usually a really hard day). Edge is stuck with me, that's for sure!! read more

If you are looking for a safer, smaller fitness community during these times, I highly recommend trying out EDGE. The owners' (shout out to Robyn and Brian, woot woot!) attention to detail for the safety of their athletes has translated well into these times of social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was impressed how quickly EDGE responded to the pandemic and implemented procedures for athletes to return to their space safely. I am a community health provider and EDGE has been just as diligent as many healthcare facilities in following best practices to minimize the spread of disease. EDGE is clearly committed to keeping their athletes and staff healthy and moving!!! read more

During this time of uncertainty, THE COMMITMENT to members and staff is amazing! Thank you for building such an amazing COMMUNITY. Not only are they offering online workouts , but coaches corners/discussions, equipment rental, insane offers for non members/new members, fun challenges to keep everyone motivated and more! Thank you EDGE for being a saving grace during this time... read more

EDGE is not your typical gym. It's more of a clubhouse for athletes - and athletes of all levels. It doesn't matter if you just come to classes from time to time or run ultramarathons, you feel as though you matter. The strength classes are my favorite - super small class size paired with knowledgeable coaches who will kick your butt (with kindness.) Even though the classes are 30-45 mins, you will feel it and see results. I promise. The cycling 'pain cave' is small, but very nice and not lit with fluorescent lights. Actually all the spaces of EDGE don't look like a normal gym. It's defiantly a safe space for people who don't like the "typical gym vibe." Recovery and café services are top notch. It's defiantly worth getting a day pass after an event to sip a latte while reclining on a leather chair in some recovery boots. Oh, and there are pugs there! read more

Anything I write in words won't describe the full potential of what you get at Edge Athlete Lounge. Having been through multiple fitness centers in Chicago over the last 11 years, I would say that this place is the one that really works. I joined their 6 week fitness challenge (losing 20lbs + 8.3% body fat), I could see the difference it made to my lifestyle. I couldn't thank the team at Edge Athlete Lounge enough to motivate me to reach where I couldn't reach for more than 18 years. If you want to learn fitness, discipline and also have fun working out, all you need to do is sign-up here!.. read more

While I have never experienced the services of Edge, I do have to say that during a teachers union march today, a kind woman working at Edge let me sneak in for a brief moment to use the bathroom. She then wished me luck on her way out. Any business who shows kindness like that to a stranger in need deserves 5 stars. Thank you! read more

Been here many times for recovery and always enjoy the freindly staff and members. They are not kidding when they say fresh legs, I ran 20 miles can here and was able to run again the next day with out much soreness feeling. Participated in the 6 week challenge to see what else the facility had to offer and i was blown away by the classes and coaches. They know how to push the athletes and classes keep changing from week to week so you dont feel u hit a plateau. With their guidance I was able to drop 29 pounds in 6 weeks !! Truly a place to help athletes excel. read more

I've used Edge primarily for their Metabolic Efficiency coaching services, as I'm an Ironman athlete who has been challenged with GI issues regularly when training and racing (particularly in the marathon). Robyn is a certified coach, and helped me to adjust my eating habits for both day-to-day and sports nutrition to pretty much eliminate my issues. As a side bonus, I lost 9 pounds in the 5 weeks of working closely with her. (I had stubborn weight to lose and this was my secondary goal.) She's incredibly supportive as you go through these changes to your eating habits, and helps you set incremental goals as well as to provide guidance or examples on how to eat for metabolic efficiency. The facility, which I had access to during my period of coaching, is awesome. I loved using the ice bath and recovery boots after my long weekend workouts. Loved them and they help you be ready to push it in your workouts again sooner! read more

I have know Robyn for a few years. She is extremely helpful and a great resource. I was really excited to learn about the business she was opening. Well I was blown away how great the place is. The recovery boots are magic, but more important is the lounge feel and all the extras. The private chnging rooms with showers are nicer than any gym in the city. The coffee, the food, all great healthy options. I finally tried the Kikr cycle trainers, they blow away any trainer that I have read. Oh yea, forgot the ice tub, an absolute must right after a workout. There is a great social aspect of the place. Come relax, recover and meet other great people in Chicago. A must try and a gem. read more

This place is an incredible resource for athletes in Chicago. I was thoroughly impressed with both the services and the staff of Edge after a recent visit. I came in to Edge after a long run, but I think that anyone who is exercising at any level would benefit from everything Edge offers. I had been out for a long run after a peak weak of training. We used the Cold Tank/Hot Tub Contrast Therapy. Wow! Yep, that is a polar plunge. Yet, 100% worth it. I was basically unable to go up stairs on the way in from being so fatigued and sore, and when I left I felt great. I do my best to be descriminate in deciding if this was a placebo effect or not, and I don't think it was. We also used the vasopnuematic air compression sleeves for our legs. These felt amazing, and the leather seats were a great way to relax after a long day. The space is very cool, and it definitely has a great "lounge" feel to it. I did get a cofee from the bar in the front to warm me up after the contrast therapy and to drink while getting the compression therapy. It was very good. Coach Robyn was there, and enjoyed meeting her. You can tell she really loves working with everyone-even when we were there on a Sunday. read more

I would recommend Edge to anyone looking for a gym that will help you get results! I just finished my 7th week here and purchased a year membership. All the coaches are motivating and truly care! Thank you Edge!! read more

I like to think of Edge Athlete Lounge as the Mecca for my endurance training. Since my first visit to Edge, I felt a part of the community and knew I had to instantly become a member. This past summer, I was training for my second marathon with an injury and Edge helped me continue my training in a healthy way and achieve a 15 minute PR!!! All thanks to the recovery tools, the supportive and amazing community, expert coaches and phenomenal strength classes. It's become a home away from home, a community with amazing athletes, and a place for me to work since I work remotely. And even as I am healing my injury post-race, I feel stronger and healthier than ever before because of the resources and people Edge provides and surrounds you with. If you are looking to take your training to the next level, Edge offers everything you need! The space has everything you need: Strength room, cycle room, treadmills, coffee and smoothies, cold and hot tubs to aid in fast recovery, recovery boots, did I mention community enough? :) It's also very convenient to the 606 trail and just a few miles away to the Lakefront VIA a quick run or bike ride. read more

Came here for the 6-week challenge stayed for the transformation. As the years have passed by, it's become more difficult to find time to stay fit. That is until the coaches at Edge whipped me back into shape. Accountability. It is one of the differences between Edge and other gyms. The coaches push us to be successful athletes and achieve our goals, while the community and fellow athletes are equally supportive and motivating. I am feeling the best I have in years and it is thanks to the staff and coaches at Edge. Thank you and look forward to the next year! read more

It makes sense that the Edge is my first Yelp review as I feel like a new person since I've gone through their 6-week challenge program (twice) and have been a member for 8 months or so. Although, I've done other weight loss diets and trained for run races and triathlons, I wasn't seeing much in results. I was trying to shed my grad school/ college weight before my wedding but no luck. Until the Edge. The combine forces of diet guidance, classes (called the Edge workout of the day or EWODs), the monetary deposit that could only be won back upon successful completion of the challenge, and the continued accountability coach check-ins made a huge impact and I'm pleased to say I've met and surpassed #weddinggoals and general health and life goals that I had originally set. The classes are engaging and always at least slightly different (and only 30-45 mins!) which makes it so much less of a struggle to go. I would highly recommend the Edge athlete lounge to everyone, from beginning athletes, to those who want to join an incredible community with awesome coaches, recovery equipment, and @pugcovery (look them up on Instagram)! read more

This place is amazing. Training - bike studio. They have wahoo kickr's which are far superior to compu trainers. Read slowtwitch or any of the reviews - Kickr's are where its at. Its a wheel-off design so you don't need a trainer tire or destroy your own wheel. Its also much quieter and easier to set up (can get a bike set up in about a minute). I ride 3 days a week and do a mix of course rides, interval workouts on my own, or interval workouts that Robyn or Ed creates that's appropriate to the workout I need to do. Its a mix of triathletes and cyclists riding here, and everyone is super friendly and supportive. I've ridden at 2 other studios at Chicago and both are considerably more expensive. I left the last place because a lot of the athletes there were kinda pretentious (it happens), but not at Edge. Training - treadmills. They have Woodways. I HATE running on the treadmill. I'll run outside as long as its above 0 degrees, but in Chicago, it gets below 0 (ugh). The Woodways are amazing and feel like you're running outside. Where Edge sets itself apart is in the Recovery - the boots are amazing. After a long workout or FTP test, the boots accelerate the recovery process by days. I'll admit I was skeptical at first but its legit! I SHOULD try the ice bath, but to be honest. ugh. no. no. no. Recovery - the cafe. two words - kong smoothie. I also drink way too much coffee here. Robyn and Brian are super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. And their pugs Bruce and June are almost always there too. (its a little disappointing when they're not there and I can't get my pug fix). They're also incredibly accommodating and flexible and cater to athlete's needs. read more

"Tremendous place. Owners' and Partners' Breian and Robyn could not be better hosts. They are as knowledgeable as they are welcoming, as inspirational as they are humble. It does not get much better than this, even at a ridiculously priced 6-star spa in the south of France. EAL is one of the best kept secrets in Chicago." DQ Milligan read more

I came here for a running clinic and the space is nice inside. There is a cute cafe in front and the lounge that has comfy seats where you can relax and a computrainer room. The space looks like a comfy living room with a few tv's that you can relax in. I didn't get to check out the services but the running clinic was great. We got to run alongside the 606 trail which is not far from the lounge. I learned a lot about running form and some drills during the clinic. I definitely want to come back sometime to check out the services. read more

I HATE running. It's something I do out of necessity. I seem to get gassed and not recover as well as I should so I decided to seek help. Someone recommended EDGE so I decided to try them out. It was easy to arrange a time via email. I was told that my session would last about one hour. This is where I met Robyn. She was my advisor/ counselor/ coach (?) She was warm, friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. All the things I needed because I HATE running. She gave me the once over at various speeds, and then we worked on things I needed to improve. All in all I'm pleased with the experience and I don't feel like I spent money on crap. I'm going to start implementing some of the stretches and warmup exercises Robyn recommended, and see if my times improve. read more

Participating in the 6-week challenge helped me view food differently. Food is life and what you eat is fuel and energy. I took on the challenge after a couple of years of health issues and finally being well enough to get back to a stronger body. The plan works. If you do the work and stick to the plan you will succeed at getting stronger and healthier. What piqued my interest with this particular challenge was the importance they stressed on eating the right foods to help you reach your goal. I love food but seeing it from a nutritional perspective vs. an emotionally satisfying experience has changed the way I eat. Not only did I get stronger, I am healthier than I've been in a really long time. This experience has been transformative!! read more

Edge Athlete Lounge is the best place ever to train and to recover. I participated in a 6 week challenge in May of this year. I was to lose 30 pounds in 6 weeks. While, I didn't lose the weight, I gained so much more, which made the challenge worth it. Robin, who is the "bomb-diggidty" is the nicest and most caring person I've had the pleasure to work with. I was and am on an emotional roller coaster during my weight loss journey, and she has on numerous occasions had to talk me off of the ledge, to help me make sense of everything that was going on, and to give myself permission not to be so hard on myself. She is everything I have wanted in a coach. I appreciate she calls me when she hasn't seen me to make sure I am ok. She is truly that person that while she is in business to make a profit, the profit is not what fuels her passion, it's the people and assuring they are getting what they need. The members are every type of athlete you can imagine; beginner to advance, weekend warrior to Olympians, and in between.
