Your policy was never communicated to me during my visit, nor did I receive a sincere apology. Instead, I was given excuses regarding an employee who supposedly could not communicate in English, despite the fact that he clearly communicated with me when denying me service.
Furthermore, I found your establishment to be lacking in cleanliness and customer service. The greeting I received upon arrival was unwelcoming and, quite frankly, rude due to the time of day I walked in. I could have chosen to leave immediately, but out of respect and in an effort to resolve the situation professionally, I attempted to arrange a more convenient date and time for service. Even then, I was denied the opportunity to do so.
There were at least five employees present that evening, which makes the refusal of service and the explanation provided even more frustrating. There is a significant difference between arriving at 5:00 p.m. and arriving after 5:00 p.m., and I believe that distinction should have been communicated clearly and respectfully from the beginning.
Ultimately, the way this situation was handled reflects poorly on your establishment's customer service and professionalism. I expected to be treated with courtesy and respect, and unfortunately, that was not my experience. I will not be returning to your establishment, nor will I recommend your services to others. I hope you take this feedback seriously and use it as an opportunity to improve your customer service, cleanliness, and communication with future customers.
Disappointing Experience and Concerns About Discriminatory Treatment at 4 Season Nail Shop
I had an extremely disappointing experience at 4 Season Nail Shop and left feeling disrespected and concerned about the possibility of discriminatory treatment.
On Monday, I arrived at the salon at approximately 6:09 p.m. to schedule an appointment for Thursday, October 15, at 5:00 p.m. I was informed that another employee sitting outside could assist me, so he came inside and reviewed the appointment book. There was only one appointment listed for Thursday, at 9:00 a.m.
When I requested a 5:00 p.m. appointment, the employee asked whether I could come earlier. I explained that I could not because of my work schedule. He then refused to schedule me, stating that the salon closes at 6:30 p.m.
What concerned me most was the apparent inconsistency in how customers were being accommodated. At the time of my visit, a white female customer was still receiving nail and pedicure services after 6:00 p.m., with two employees assisting her. Yet I was told that a 5:00 p.m. appointment on Thursday was not possible, even though the salon's posted closing time was 6:30 p.m.
I questioned why I could not schedule an appointment when the salon was still providing services to another customer after 6:00 p.m. Instead of receiving a clear explanation or a reasonable attempt to accommodate me, I was repeatedly told no and instructed to come earlier, despite my explaining that my employment schedule would not allow it.
Another employee then suggested that the man assisting me did not speak English well. However, he had communicated with me throughout the interaction, and another employee had specifically directed me to him for assistance. This explanation did not resolve my concerns about the refusal to schedule my appointment.
I was not offered an appointment, given a satisfactory explanation, or even provided an apology. Based on the interaction and the difference in how the situation appeared to be handled, I left feeling that I may have been treated unfairly because I am a woman of color.
Every customer deserves to be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect, regardless of race. If a salon has a cutoff time for accepting appointments, that policy should be communicated clearly and applied consistently to everyone.
I will not be returning to 4 Season Nail Shop. I would encourage prospective customers to consider my experience and make their own informed decisions before choosing this business.
I work hard for my money, value good customer service, and believe in supporting businesses that treat all customers equally. I will gladly take my business and tips elsewhere, where I feel welcomed and respected.
